I felt this way when my dog, Rebel, died. He was always by my side. Every morning, he followed me to school. Now, he was gone, and I didn't want to do anything.

My parents said I was having unrealistic (不现实的) hopes. Dogs don't live forever. Rebel had a good life. He probably wanted me to have a good life, too.

Depression is not a sign of being weak. Instead, it's a part of who we are. Many famous people, like comedy actor Jim Carrey, have also experienced depression. When you feel depressed, you must not shut yourself away from the world. Share your feelings with a good friend. Eat something delicious and take a walk in the park. Ask for any help you need. You're not alone in the fight against this terrible feeling!

Do you know how weather affects our lives? Well, it affects where we go, what we do, and what we wear. And it also affects how we feel and behave. It is a big part of our lives!

We often use weather language to describe how we feel. For example, if we are feeling ill, we say we are "under the weather". If we are feeling stressed and busy, we can say that we are "snowed under". We use "bad" weather (rainy, stormy, etc.) to describe a bad mood, and "good" weather (sunny, warm, etc.) to describe a good mood.

And that is not all. The weather can even change the way we feel! For example, sunlight helps our body to produce vitamin D. This vitamin can improve our mood. But some parts of the world get little sunlight in winter, so people can feel unusually sad then. However, when it is hot and sunny, some people may get angry easily too! Scientists are still studying how the weather changes the way people feel and behave.

These days, many of us spend less time outside than in the past. Getting no fresh air or sunlight and spending too much time inside can make us feel down. It is very important to go outside once in a while, whatever the weather, rain or shine!

Why do we have tears when we cry? Scientists have been trying to answer this question for centuries. Till now, one thing is clear. There are different kinds of tears: basal tears (基底眼泪), reflex tears (反射眼泪) and emotional tears. And the studies show emotional tears are the most of all. They are caused by strong feelings. 

Tears are easy to appear. In fact, you make 15 to 30 gallons (加仑) of tears each year. Being moved by a moving movie, being away from home for the first time or seeing a loved friend off can all cause tears. 

Tears have many roles. "The role of tears may be more important than its physical effects (作用)," says Lauren Bylsma, a PhD (博士学位) in University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Bylsma found out that people are more likely to feel better after crying if they get help when they cry. It is common that some people may cry when they realize they are wrong. After crying, people can feel better. 

But it's not good for people to hold back (抑制) their tears or cry without tears after crying. So next time when you want to cry, just do it.

One day, I was very sad when I arrived home. As a ten-year-old boy, I was too young to control my feelings. My grandmother asked what had happened to me. I told her, "I was picked on (欺负) at school. A girl kept saying terrible things about me."

My grandmother touched my head softly and said to me, "Do you know that you have two magic pockets? One has a hole. The other doesn't. When someone says something good that makes you happy, put it in the pocket that is sealed (密封的) and strong. Save it. When you go to bed, take it out and enjoy it."

"But how about the other pocket, Grandma?"

After that, I have changed a lot. I used to think my life was full of sadness. But after my grandma told me about the two magic pockets, I began to learn to deal with my problems. Now my classmates often say that I am outgoing and confident.
