Do you have a smart phone? It's very useful—we can use it to take photos, play games or study. But it can also cause (造成) problems. A large number of people spend over 4 hours a day using their phones—that's 1, 460 hours a year, from a study by Thames. If we use smart phones too much, they can become harmful (有害的).

Using smart phones too much can be bad for students' study. What about sleep? Many studies show that long smart phone time is bad for students' sleep, too. It can make it hard to fall asleep and even harder to wake up in the morning.

To find out if using smart phones too much causes poor sleep, scientists asked 1,043 British students aged between 18 and 30 to finish two questionnaires (问卷). And they find that using smart phones too much brings people poor sleep. Almost 70% of the students who use smart phones too much have poor sleep.

If you have a smart phone, it's a good idea to put down your phone before you go to sleep. Try spending less time on smart phones, and see what happens.

Hello! I'm Mary. Now I'm in Beijing with my sister, Alice. We are having a great time here. It's 9:00 a. m. now. I'm reading a book in the library. Alice is shopping in the supermarket. My parents are visiting our friends. My brother is playing basketball with his friends. We are all having a good time.

After lunch, Jack is playing near his house. He sees a kite flying in the sky. It looks like a bird. He also wants to fly a kite, but his mother doesn't let him do that. It's time for school," says his mother. "You can fly it after school."

Jack doesn't feel happy, but he has to go to school on time. The first class begins, but he doesn't listen to Miss Black. He's thinking about the kite. Miss Black looks at Jack and asks him a question.

"Tell us nine things with milk in them, Jack," she says.

Jack doesn't hear what Miss Black says, so she asks him again. Jack thinks for some time and then says, "Chocolate, bread, juice and...uh...six cows." After class, Miss Black talks a lot with Jack. Jack knows he should listen to the teacher in class.

The Turtle was not satisfied with his life. He wanted so much to 1 being a turtle. "I'm tired of swimming in the sea and moving around on the beach. Life is not 2 ," he thought. "I want to be able to fly in the air like an eagle."

He spoke to the Eagle about it.

"You're not built for 3 ," the Eagle told the Turtle. "You don't have any wings."

"Don't 4 that," answered the Turtle. "I've watched how the birds do it for a long time. I've watched 5 how they fly and do things in the air. I think I really got it. 6 I don't have wings, I can make my four flippers (鳍足) act like wings of birds in the air, the way I do in the water. Just get me up there, and you'll see I can fly as well as any of the birds—probably even 7 ! Besides, if you carry me as high as the clouds, I will bring you lots of nice pearls (珍珠) from the sea to show my thanks."

The Eagle 8 at last, and carried the Turtle up high into the sky.

"Now then!" cried the Eagle. "Fly!"

But the moment the Turtle was on his own, he fell from the 9 . He fell like a stone, and on a stone he landed. He hit it with such force that he broke into little pieces.
