One day, while I was walking in my neighbourhood, I noticed a small lonely dog at the corner of a building.  I walked up to see what was wrong. He began to bark (吠) with fear. I looked at his eyes with kindness. Then I held out my hand slowly and touched him softly.  I found his front legs got hurt. I took the dog home and named him Kim. I looked after Kim for a month, and we became good friends. After work, I went back home.

Surprising robot

Can you imagine a robot swimming like a fish in the sea? A group of scientists at Westlake University in China have made one. Its name is Sea guru II. In March, 2025, the robot went 2,000 metres under the South China Sea successfully.

When you open a map on your phone in China, it is probably guided by the Beidou navigation Satellite System (BDS，北斗卫星导航系统). China started to build the BDS in 

1994. It's never an easy thing. Over 400 teams and more than 300,000 scientists have come together to solve big problems in building it.

Fast train

Do you want to travel on the fastest train in the world? The CR450 made by the China Railway Group is a new high-speed train that can travel at 400 km/h on average (平均). Its highest speed is 453 km/h. Before this, the fastest high-speed train in the world was China's CR400. What's more, CR450 stops quickly and makes little noise. It will further meet people's wishes for a better experience.

Su Shi is widely known to us. He has a  influence on people not only for his poems, but also for his optimistic (乐观的) spirit.

Born in 1037, Su Shi  jinshi (进士) at the age of 20. Not long after he started  for the government, he was punished. He was sent to far and  areas.

Life was hard for Su Shi,  he tried to enjoy it. In 1080, he was sent to Huangzhou and stayed there  four years. He wrote Calming the Waves (《定风波》)there. It showed his hope and  for life in the face of difficulties. It is said that he invented Dongpo pork. It is a famous Chinese dish that is still common on the dining  now. In 1097, he was sent to Danzhou. He wasn't  about the life there, although he couldn't get used to it at first. Later, he set up schools and got along  with the locals.

Today we still love reading Su Shi's poems and look up to him because of his optimism.

Yesterday was the Mid- Autumn Festival. I went out to 1 the celebrations with my best friend, Liu Lin. We saw a wonderful 2 on the Central Square. Liu Lin told me it was called Datiehua (打铁花), a traditional art in China.

Last summer I went to a park and saw a tiny dog walking around. He was dirty and weak. When he saw the snacks in my hand, he ran up to me, shaking his tail with a look of hope. He was so hungry. But he ran away in fear immediately as soon as he saw my mom. I felt sorry for the homeless dog.

Since then, I have paid attention to homeless pets in Shanghai. There are more than 270,000 homeless pets in the city now and this number is still growing. The fast growth of homeless pets can cause many big problems, for example, they may spread diseases and attack people. 

However, I'm wondering why there are so many homeless pets. Some owners leave their pets behind in the street when they don't want to keep them any more. At the same time, the city can't provide enough animal shelters(收容所) for the abandoned(遗弃) animals.

How shall we work together to save these poor pets? Firstly, the government should pass laws to protect pets. Secondly, more money should be raised to build more animal shelters. What's more, we could help by volunteering to educate people on how to take care of pets. Lastly, we should consider getting a pet from the animal shelters instead of buying a new one.

I hope we can create a better world not only for homeless pets but also for ourselves. I will ask my mom to allow me to get a dog from the animal shelter this summer. What are you going to do with it? 

Lily received a shiny new bicycle for her birthday present. She loved it so much that she named it Sunny. However, she was troubled because she didn't know  to ride. 

Lily' father offered to teach her, but it wasn't as easy as they thought. Lily's first few tries ended with scraped (擦伤的) knees. Still, her dad encouraged her to keep trying. He was  by her side, and got ready to catch her if she fell. Day after day, Lily practiced  Sunny. It was a hard start, but Lily never gave up.

In short, when you feel sad about getting the second place, think like a bronze medalist. Be proud of what you've achieved, not upset about what you didn't reach. This is the secret to be happy. Remember, how you see your success can turn any medal into a personal win.
