11、Hotpot is a popular traditional dish in China with a history of around 2,000 years. It started from the Han Dynasty (朝代). People just had a metal bowl with some soup over a fire. As time went on, people started adding more flavours (味道). By the Tang Dynasty, hotpot got fancier with different types of soup and more choices of food.
Meat like beef, mutton, and chicken is people's favourite, and you can also add seafood like shrimp and fish. If you don't eat meat, you can put in different vegetables. It is soft and takes in the flavours of the soup.
In winter, when it's cold outside, people sit around the table, and the hotpot warms them up. People feel good because they're sharing the experience.

Chilli peppers, also called chillies, are found in dishes around the world. Chillies come from the capsicum plant (辣椒属植物). They are "hot" because they contain something called capsaicin (辣椒素).

She ate 51 hot peppers in just two minutes! The peppers were Nag a Jolokia ("Ghost Peppers"). They grow in Assam and are one of the hottest chillies in the world.
"I found eating chillies was a great way to stay healthy," said Tamuly. She began eating chillies when she was a child. She ate chillies when she didn't feel well. "Every time I have a cold or flu, I just eat some chillies and I feel better. To be honest, I hardly notice them now."
