A study shows that the color of a bowl can influence the taste of the food inside.

Some  from the UK gave people potato chips. They were put in red, blue and white bowls. The potato chips in red and blue ones were to be saltier than those in white ones.

Why is that? Scientist Charles Spence from the University of Oxford says the   is in our brains. Over 40percent of the cortex(皮层), the surface of the brain, is used to process visual (视觉的) information,  only 1to 2 percent is involved(有关联) in taste. Our brains depend on what color we see to organize our experiences of food.

But the"taste" of color greatly depends on people'sexperience. For example, if you have eaten a very sweet, white-colored ice cream, you may relate white sweetness. In the study above, scientists say that in the UK, salty snacks often  in blue packaging.That could be why people think the food on blue platessaltier.

Sometimes, it's easy to know your emotions.However, your emotions are there, and they' re all normal.

 These feelings help us understand ourselves and make good decisions. For example, feeling fear in a situation like crossing the street in traffic is a useful signal to stay safe.Being more aware of your emotions is a skill that can help you know yourself better, feel better about things and deal with them better, be less self-critical, pause (暂停) instead of acting on difficult emotions, decide how to act and handle situations, and get along better with others.

Remind yourself that all your emotions are normal. When you know your emotions, you' re better able to make wise choices about how to act—— no matter what you' re feeling.

If you have emotions that feel difficult or overwhelming(压倒性的), get support.Sometimes people get help from a therapist(心理治疗师) to deal with difficult emotions that affect daily life.

①"Why don't you ever listen?"

"You just don't understand me!"

② Sound  familiar?  When you' re  having a difficult conversation with your parents or friends, accusatory words like those can stop a discussion. As soon as one feels attacked,the defensive  (防御的)  walls  come  up,  and  real communication becomes all but impossible. We focus on the other person's behavior first, without spending time thinking about and telling why we' re feeling hurt.  Here lie the differences between"I" and"you" statements.

③An"I-statement" is a sentence beginning with the word"I" that tells another person how you are feeling in a clear way. For example, you might say,"I feel…" or"I become nervous when…" I-statements are a powerful tool to help you express your feelings to someone else without blaming (责怪)others."You-statements", such as those listed above, are statements that begin with the word"you", pointing out what other people have done wrong. These statements often mean that the listener is responsible for something.

④Why are I-statements important? When you start a conversation by talking about the other person's actions, you' re sending the message that they' re the problem. For most people,this immediately leads to them becoming defensive and trying to throw blame back onto you. However, starting a sentence with"I" helps us talk about difficult feelings and how the problem is affecting us, and stops other people feeling blamed. This can be seen in the case when you feel left out. Instead of saying"You always leave me out", you can say"I feel hurt when I'm not invited because it feels like I'm not welcome". With this I-____statement, you' re being honest about your feelings, but you' re not presenting them as something the other person did to you.As a result, the listener tends to experience this as more friendly, opening the possibility of further conversation and hope for a solution.

⑤It's a simple change, but by being a little more careful of how you express yourself, you may find people are more likely to positively listen to you and understand more about what you are trying to say.

It happened two years ago. It was Mother's Day morning.I was doing some shopping at our local supermarket with my five-year-old son, Tenyson. As we were leaving, we found that only minutes earlier an elderly woman had fallen over at the entrance and had hit her head on the ground. Her husband was with her but there was blood everywhere and the woman was embarrassed and clearly in shock. Walking towards the scene,

Tenyson became very sad about what had happened to the couple.

He said to me,"Mum, it's not much fun falling over in front of everyone."

At the front of the supermarket a charity group had set up a stand selling fish and chips and flowers to raise funds(基金). Tenyson suggested that we should buy the lady a flower."It will make her feel better," he said. I was amazed that he'd come up with such a sweet idea. So we went over to the flower seller and asked her if we could buy a flower for the lady to cheer her up."Just take it," she replied."I can't take your money for such a wonderful gesture."

By then doctors had arrived and were attending the injured woman. As we walked up to her, my son became frightened by all the blood and medical equipment(器具). He said he was just too scared to go up to her. Instead I gave the flower to the woman's husband and told him,"My son was very sad for your wife and wanted to give her this flower to make her feel better."

The old man started crying and said,"Thank you so much. You have a wonderful son.  Happy Mother's Day to you."

The man then bent down and gave his wife the flower telling her who it was from. Though badly hurt and shaken, the old lady looked up at Tenyson with love in her eyes and gave him a little smile.

Kurt and his wife Rita have spent many years making meals for the homeless people in Berlin.  They first began to do that during a hot summer. After seeing homeless people struggling (挣扎) to find something to eat on the street, Kurt and Rita decided to make some food for them. 

Kurt and Rita soon found that simply giving out food wasn't enough. Most of the homeless people were lonely.They had no friends or family."What these people also need is care,"said Rita. Later, Kurt and Rita came up with a(n) idea. They gave their phone numbers to the homeless people and told them to call up anytime. And their home was always open to the homeless people in need. 

Kurt and Rita soon ran out of all their money and got into trouble. Kurt then visited some companies to ask for donations. After knowing what they did, over thirty companies saved money to buy food or other things for them. Many volunteers helped to hand out these things to the homeless. 

On 2 January 2025, an earthquake happened in Yongning, Yinchuan. At that time, the earthquake affected people's  seriously. Because of the earthquake, most services  . For example, there was no electricity. On the evening of that day, some people chose to  the night in their cars. They were  and didn't want to go home. 

As soon as the earthquake happened, the local government quickly sent rescue workers to check the situation  offer help. Earthquakes can be scary. However, there is something you can do to stay safe. If you are indoors during an earthquake, you hide under a strong table or bed, or stand next to a wall. Cover  head and neck with hands. Stay away from tall buildings and power lines  you are outside.
