How are things going there? We're all fine. And we   see you again on New Year's Eve. Dad plans to buy some fireworks and we all want to  in Mom's favorite restaurant. Now we're enjoying having a few days off. We need to relax and do some shopping. We also hope to visit Aunt Anne next week before we  to work. But it depends whether it will snow or not. It's quite difficult to her house when there is snow. Usually, she asks us to wait until spring. She says she will come to visit us soon. Oh, let me know when you arrive and I will let Dad meet you  . He will try to get there earlier.

According to CCTV News, China's Chang'e 6 probe (探测器) returned to Earth on June 25th, 2024. With the first-ever rock and soil samples (样本) from the far side of the moon, China's space agency (中国航天局) called the mission "a complete success" after the probe landed in northern China.

Chinese scientists think the returned samples include 2.5 million-year-old volcanic (火山的) rock and other materials that scientists hope will answer questions about geographic (地理的) differences on the moon's two sides.

The samples could even help scientists to discover how planets are formed, according to the BBC.

The near side is what is seen from Earth, and the far side faces outer space. The far side is also known to have mountains and impact craters (撞击坑).

Past US and Soviet missions have collected samples from the moon's near side, while the Chinese mission is the first that has collected samples from the far side.

The moon program is part of a growing rivalry (竞争) with the US—still the leader in space exploration and others, including Japan and India. China has put its own space station in orbit (轨道) and regularly sends astronauts there.

China's leader Xi Jinping sent a message of congratulations to the Chang'e team, saying that it was a "Landmark (里程碑) achievement in our country's efforts at becoming a space and technological power".

The probe left Earth on May 3rd, and its journey lasted 53 days. Scientists are hoping that the sample materials include traces of meteorite strikes (陨石撞击的痕迹) from the moon's past.

Experts believe that the aim of future missions will be not only to explore, but to take control of the moon's resources.

A Chinese girl Tan Fanglin overcame a world-class math problem. She  to attend the 2^nd World Laureates Forum(世界顶尖科学家论坛) when she was 15. Communicating with 65 top scientists in the world, she became a  star in this meeting of the world's super minds.

Her discovery has won her many prizes in youth innovation competitions in China. However, Tan is not a"talent" in the traditional sense. Her  in math are from her wisdom, strong interest and hard work.

When a US car salesman asked me whether people in China are still using bicycles to travel around nowadays, I was surprised.

Now we're living in the Internet time. However, I've discovered that many foreigners who have never been to China completely don't know what China is like, such as the rapid development in the field of transportation(交通领域). When my parents were young, they used to ride bicycles to school. Cars could be seen in every corner of Chengdu, my hometown, in the 1990s. In September 2017, the speed of the Fuxing trains—— China's self-developed bullet trains(高速列车), was increased to 350km/h on the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway line. This made it the world's fastest train service. Today, more and more ways of transportation are bringing convenience to Chinese people's daily lives. Subway lines are just beside my home.Shared bikes are within reach and ready to use. Bicycles are now more often seen as a tool for exercising.

All these changes have spoken loudly of the development of China in the past years. As a Chinese person, I can say that I believe that my nation will keep making miracles(奇迹) happen. People all over the world should know that our field of transportation, like many other fields, is writing an amazing page even now as we speak, and that we're on our way to a better future.

It is reported that some developed countries have shipped broken parts of computers to China. Such a thing can be found every day although it is against international laws.Last month, Hong Kong officers found 131,000 kilograms of broken computers, TVs and phones sent from Japan.

Things like these are called electronic waste, or e-waste. Dealing with them is not an easy job, because dangerous materials like mercury and lead(汞和铅) can be found in them. Every time an old computer breaks down, it needs to be dealt with safely. But at present, broken computer parts are usually buried. It may be hundreds of years before they are completely gone in the soil.

Many places in China are polluted by e-waste. Guiyu in Guangdong Province is one of them. This town is named as"the e-waste capital of the world". It has to deal with 1.5 million kilograms of e-waste each year, from which it makes 75 million yuan. But it comes at a cost. Many of the harmful materials in e-waste find their way into the environment. Plastic is burned outdoors and chemical water is poured into rivers.Greenpeace, an environmental group, has found the air, the soil and the rivers in Guiyu are badly polluted.

The Chinese government wants the country to develop, but in a way that doesn't do harm to the environment and people's lives. This year, China presents a new protection law, the strictest one we have ever had. Computer companies like Lenovo and Dell will be asked to take back their old computers. This is because the companies that make computers know best how to deal with them safely. Hopefully, the problem with e-waste will be solved in the near future.

Time flies. Your time in junior high school will come to an end in a few months. Let's look back over the last three years. What were the highs and lows?

Shaine Kilyun is a 16-year-old high school student. She is turning her love for animals into action to to disabled pets. In her free time, Shaine makes wheelchairs for dogs, cats and other animals.She learned how to make them  . "I need to do this," Shaine said. "So many disabled dogs because people don't think they have a life."

Wheelchairs in pet shops are expensive. They're usually more than 1,000 dollars. Shaine's are. The girl opened a non-profit(非营利机构) called Wheelies and it helps her to raise money to make wheelchairs.

She has already made 10 wheelchairs for disabled pets. She hopes she will be able to wheelchairs to animal centers one day.
