The Hero in My Heart

Everyone has a hero in his or her heart. 

Shan Jixiang retired(退休) on April 8th, 2019 after having been the head of the Palace Museum for seven years. Rather than the"boss" of the Palace Museum, Shan called  (he) a gatekeeper. To learn more about the Palace Museum, he spent five months  (walk) every inch of the museum.

Every year, Australia hosts a 5 7-mile-long ultra-marathon(超级马拉松) race. It takes runners five days to complete the race and only world-class runners train for the event. 

In 1983, a potato farmer named Cliff Young showed up at the start of the race. Cliff Young might  (死) of tiredness, so some people tried to stop him. People  (意识到) that he was 61 years old and the race was dangerous for him.

Think of somebody you really admire. You will probably find that their success didn't come easily. As the"Father of Hybrid Rice(杂交水稻)", Yuan Longping got over great difficulties and spent his whole life working to reduce world hunger and helping to feed the country with a large population. 

Wu Mengchao, the"Father of Chinese Hepatobiliary Surgery(肝胆外科)", focused on saving people's lives for nearly eighty years. He performed more than 16, 000 operations during his life. Holding the surgeon's knife for such a long time deformed_his_fingers. Wu once said, "It would be my greatest happiness if I could work at the operating table until my dying day. "

In 1969, in order to solve the problem of treating malaria(疟疾), TuYouyou, a pharmacologist(药学家), took on the job as head of a research team. She and her teammates performed different kinds of experiments. However, the results were disappointing. Instead of giving up, they kept trying. Finally, in 1972, they made it! In 2015, at the age of 85, she received a Nobel Prize. 

Thomas Edison, the inventor of the electric lamp, believed that every failure was a step towards success. He once said, "If I find 10, 000 ways something won't work, I haven't failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong try is another step forward. "

Sometimes, their success was a surprise, even to themselves. The famous scientist Alexander Fleming said, "When I woke up just after daybreak on September 28th, 1928, I certainly didn't plan to revolutionise(变革) all medicine by discovering the world's first antibiotic(抗生素), But I guess that was exactly what I did. "

Some people only became successful after their deaths. Not like Pablo Picasso who became famous and very rich during his lifetime, the artist Vincent van Gogh only sold one painting all through his life and that was to a friend. But he kept painting and he painted more than 2, 000 artworks in the following ten years. Now his paintings are very popular and they sell for millions of pounds. 

One thing all these people have in common is sticking to their goals no matter what happens.

②Zhu Yanfu was born in Zhangjiaquan Village in Shandong Province in July, 1933. When he was only 14 years old, he joined the army. Although he was young, he was not afraid to take part in wars. He lost his hands, his left eye and both legs below the knees during the Korean War in the 1950s. But he still said, "I don't regret what I have done to protect our country. "

③In 1956, he chose to abandon(放弃) the special care in the army nursing home and returned to his home town. He once said, "I don't want to depend on our country to support me, I want to work for our country and serve its people. "

Wang Yaping has a job that allows her to travel— all the way to space. Wang is an astronaut. In 2013, she became the second Chinese woman to travel to space. She is also famous for a physics class that she televised from space to millions of people. 

Wang trained very hard for many years to become an astronaut. The hardest part was desert(沙漠) training, Wearing a spacesuit and carrying heavy equipment, she walked several kilometres through the hot and sandy desert, "Sometimes it was so windy and dusty that we couldn't see each other even though we were just a few metres away, " she says. 

Wang loves her job. She remembers watching the first Chinese astronaut go into space. "I was so proud and also very excited. But as I watched it, it came to my mind: We have male pilots(飞行员). When will there be a female astronaut? And today, it's me becoming one of the first few. "

Zoltan Takacs is a snake researcher. He first became interested in snakes when he was a teacher in Budapest, Hungary. Today, he studies snakes as his career. He travels to many different countries around the world to study all kinds of dangerous snakes.

In fact, my family has planned a visit to Europe during the Spring Festival.You know, l have always loved the Spring Festival, Not only can I have   good rest, but also I can eat delicious food. My uncle is good  cooking.  delicious food he cooks!

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a popular and important festival in China. It is celebrated on the 15th day of the  (第八) month in the Chinese lunar calendar. This day is in the exact midst(中间) of autumn, so it's called the Mid-Autumn Festival. To celebrate it, people usually have three days  (不工作). 

There are some  (传统) on the Mid-Autumn Festival. For example, family members usually get together to have a big dinner. After that, everyone helps to wash the  (盘) and then they go out to enjoy the full moon.  (吃) moon cakes is a  (象征) of reunion(团聚). As time goes by, there are all  (种类) of moon cakes at shops and they are much more  (昂贵的) than before. But their symbolic meaning  (留下). 

I like the Mid-Autumn Festival because all my family members always get together and we enjoy (我们自己)on that day.

Navaratri(九夜节) is one of the most important festivals in India. It lasts for ten days and nine nights. Families always try to return home on these days and leave on the   day. The day before Navaratri is called Mahalaya. It is the start of the festival   to celebrate the homecoming of Durga. 

When I was on a trip there during the festival last year, I learned a lot about its traditions, Early on the morning of Mahalaya Day, the guide woke us up to listen to the programme called All India Radio, just as the Indians did. The programme began in the 1930s and since then, it has never changed. 

During the days, people got together for dinner and danced. There were all kinds of different together for dinner of other women. Navaratri was a time for   for new clothes and jewelry(珠宝). They dressed beautifully each day for dances. As for   , they played games and had great fun. 

Great changes have taken place in India. However, the Indians still keep this traditional festival.
