Writing a book report can be a lot of fun. It gives you a chance to read a new book and then tell your teacher and friends what you think about it. 

Here are some of the things you need to include in your book report. 

The book information

List the name of the book and who wrote it. Did the title sound interesting or was it about something that you like? Describe what made you decide on this book. 

Where and when did the story take place? Was it in a city or on a farm?Give a good description of the place with as much detail as possible. 

Who was the book about? Was there just one main character or were there a few? When you write about the characters, include their names and what they look like. 

What happened in the book? Was there a problem that the people in the story were trying to solve? Describe what happened in the beginning, the middle and the end of the story. 

Write some thoughts about why you liked or didn't like the book. Talk about how the book made you feel happy, sad, excited. . . 

When you' ve finished writing the report, read it over carefully to make sure everything is spelled correctly.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is one of the great works by Mark Twain. The book is so interesting. Even today, it is quite popular among kids. Although I am in my thirties, the book remains one of my favourites. After re-reading the book recently, I have learned an important lesson from TomSawyer. 

In our daily lives, we are often given some boring or tiring work. What's in your mind when your mum tells you to clean the floor? Have you ever wanted to complain(抱怨)? I think most people have. 

Tom Sawyer, however, thought"differently" when he was asked to do something boring. One Saturday morning, Aunt Polly told Tom to paint the fence(篱笆). Tom's friend Ben Rogers happened to walk past. Tom told Ben that he felt"excited" about the work. "Only one in a thousand— maybe even two thousand— boys can do this!"Tom said. 

Tom's words made Ben interested in the work. He even gave Tom his apple so that he could have a chance to paint the fence. If Tom had thought about nothing but complaining, he would have had a bad day painting the fence. 

This story teaches me an important lesson: Complaining is useless. The next time you are given boring or tiring work, don't complain. Unlike what happens in the story of Tom Sawyer, it is possible that nobody will come and do the work for you. However, without complaining, you' ll feel better and perhaps even do a better job!

⑥I who am blind can give one suggestion to those who see: Use your eyes as if tomorrow you would be blind. The same is true of other senses. Hear the songs of birds, as if you would be deaf tomorrow. Smell the flowers, as if tomorrow you could never smell again . . . But of all the senses, I'm sure that sight must be the most pleasant.

Tom was a lazy boy. He hated going to school, studying and doing homework. One day, when Gluebeard, the famous captain(船长), came to town in search of young sailors, Tom made sure he was the first in line. 

On Glueboard's ship, every minute of every day was spent looking for treasure and if anyone was found reading or studying, they would be locked in a small room full of mice. Tom began his life as a treasure-hunting sailor, but it wasn't easy. They hardly had enough money to buy food and clothes. 

One day, someone on the ship stole the only food Tom had left. Two days later, Tom was so hungry that he secretly went to the room full of mice to find one and eat it. But when he entered, he couldn't find a single mouse. He did find a secret room, one that was full of … books! Suddenly he heard

some voices and he hid away. He heard Glueboard laugh at how stupid the crow(全体船员) were, how easy it was to fool them, and how foolish and poor they would always be after leaving their studies behind. 

From that day on, Tom waited every night until everyone was asleep. Then he visited the room full of books, where he spent his time studying all kinds of books. Soon he found that learning about so many things gave him better ideas. 

After a few years, he left Gluebeard's ship, used the money he made to buy his own boat and found his own crew. Unlike Glueboard, however, he only chose people who studied. And instead of fooling them, he encouraged them to search tor treasure with him,With so many clever people ,▲.

Marathon in My Eyes

2024 Hangzhou Marathon was successfully held. I feel proud of my home town. I'd like to share my ideas with you. 

Earhart was born in Kansas, the US. At that time, very few  (woman) flew airplanes. In 1935, she became the first woman to fly across the Pacific Ocean all by  (she). After that, she wanted  (circle) the world. On June 1st 1937, she and Fred Noonan took off from Miami, Florida. Thirty-one days later, they reached the island of New Guinea in the Pacific Ocean  (success). Their next stop would be Howland Island, a small island more than 2, 500 miles away. 

  , something went wrong during the flight there. There were dark clouds in the sky, and Earhart and Noonan couldn't find  island. Earhart sent radio messages to a US Coast Guard near Howland Island and her final message  (receive) at 8:45 am on July 2nd. She was never heard from again.

How to Be Good at Sports

If sports are something that interests you, it stands to reason you would want to be good at them. Succeeding at a sport takes skills, and skills take patience. However, there are other things you need to think about if you want to be a good sports player. 

If you want to become a sports superstar, joining a team is a good way to start. Even if your skills are low now. Sports teams are everywhere, and most of them are free to join. 

This one should come as obvious, but you might be surprised how important proper sleep is. This is especially true during times of intense(紧张) practice or training, where things get so busy that it becomes hard to cram(挤满) everything into a usual day. However, your body needs its full rest. 

Everyone should make a point of eating a diet that does good to their body. This is especially true if you want to be great at sports. Eating junk food will work against whatever efforts you make in the gym. 

No matter what you do, skills are often slow to build. If you' re not patient, you will try to jump into more advanced(高级) skills long before you' re ready. Keep the long-term in mind, and try to make it come true.

①I'm Dan. I started running half marathons(马拉松) in the 1970s. I'm78 now. I' ve been doing them for nearly fifty years and I still get the same excitement at the start of each race as I always have. I don't do as many as Idid. I used to run around 30 races every year and in my thirties I got quite good at them. I think my personal best was about 1 hour and 17 minutes, which was only ten minutes over the world record then. These days I do about 10 races a year and my time is quite a bit slower. At my age I need a lot more preparation and my body doesn't recover as quickly as before, but Inever give up. 

②There are two main reasons why I still run half marathons. Firstly, it means I'm keeping myself healthy. My doctor told me that I'm healthier than most 70-year-olds. But I think the real reason why I love the sport so much is what other people bring to me. I meet other runners and I' ve made many good friends over the years, and the most amazing thing is that all the people along the sides of the streets will cheer me on. I get more and more support. ③I also spend quite a lot of time visiting schools to get children interested in doing the sport. I think it's really important to start at an early age. The earlier you start, the easier it is to keep on. The kids are always really enthusiastic(热情的) and they ask me lots of questions. Many of them can't believe that I'm the same age as their grandfathers. Sometimes I challenge them to a five-kilometre race. There aren't many of them that can beat me!

Phryge: The Mascot(吉祥物) for the 2024 Paris Olympics

The mascot for the 2024 Paris Olympics is a lively character named"Phryge". Shaped like a triangle, it is red, blue and white, mirroring the colours of the French flag. The design drew inspiration(灵感) from the common Phrygian cap in France, known as the"cap of freedom". The playful appearance of the mascot was sure to attract people from around the world during the Paris Olympics in July and August last year.

The design of the 2024 Paris Olympics medal is inspired by the famous French landmark"the Eiffel Tower". Each medal is made of the iron pieces from the tower. The pieces in its centre are in the shape of a hexagon(六边形). On the back side of the medal is a small picture of the Eiffel Tower and the ancient Greek goddess of victory named Nike. Athletes felt very proud and happy when holding these medals. 

Breaking(霹雳舞) Is Coming to the Olympics

Breaking is a lively street dance born in New York during the 1970s. It became a new official sport of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The best B-boys and B-girls have shown their great skills and creativity in one-on-one battles(对决), where each dancer has 60 seconds to impress the judges with their fast steps, hard poses and crazy spins(旋转). So you can expect the most exciting performances at the Olympics. 

Paul and I were on our school basketball team, the Lions. After we joined the team, we became good friends soon. We were both huge basketball fans. Paul's favourite player was Richard. He was only 1.6 metres tall, which made him the shortest player ever in his team. Paul was only 1.6 metres tall too! Paul knew that being shorter than other players meant that he had to practise more. During all those hours of practising on his own, he took Richard as his example. 

Paul once said, "If Richard could make it, why can't I?"

Our coach ignored(忽视) Paul because of his height. So Paul was still a replacement(替补). It was really painful for him. Everyone knew Paul was someone who worked really hard and had a strong wish to play for the team. However, Paul didn't get a chance. 

This week, the Lions were playing against the Bears, a team whose record had been perfect this season. Suddenly, a player and I knocked into each other. My knees hurt badly. The team got together, looking worried. The last quarter was about to begin, and my team was behind by 10 points. 

"I don't think I can play any more, coach, " I said quietly as the doctor checked my knees. 

"What about Paul?" someone suggested. 

"Paul?" said the coach. "He can't play!"

"Give him a chance, coach!" I said. 

"Let me try, coach! I won't let you down!" Paul said. 

"OK!" the coach finally agreed,"Don't let us down, Paul.It's your time

to shine.

Paul jumped up and rushed into the court(球场). And clearly, all the hours he spent practising alone paid off. The other team just couldn't keep up with Paul's energy and speed. He made it and people couldn't stop cheering for him. 

When the game ended, our team won by two points. 

The coach patted Paul's shoulder and said, "You' ve just earned(赢得)your place on the team, big boy. "

The 19th Asian Games was held in Hangzhou, China in 2023. It was the largest and most technological Asian Games. The Games included many kinds of cutting-edge(前沿的) technologies to make players and watchers have safe and enjoyable experiences.
