Last month, our class  for a community project. The task was simple but needed teamwork: to make our neighborhood greener by planting trees. 

We were divided into small groups. Each group had a partner to work with. My partner and I found out that we made a great team. She had the  about plants, and I had the energy  and carry the young trees. The task was tiring but fun. We shared lively  and laughter as we worked. 

This activity increased our pride in our community. We realized that even a small act can make a big . The secret is to start and take action. Now, we value our green space even more.

But that excitement didn't last long. After about five years, Beanie Babies weren't worth（值）a penny.  Different from my sister, I only had four Beanie Babies: a turtle, a tiger, a frog, and a lizard. They were never for sale and are still with me. 

The same things happen today with Labubu and the like. Many kids love them and hang them on their schoolbags. But these toys are traded on the market, too. A 99-yuan Labubu doll, for example, can go for 1, 100yuan at online flea markets（二手货市场）。

On Sep, 3rd 2025, China held a big military parade(阅兵) in Tian' anmen Square. It was to mark the 80th anniversary of winning the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-fascist War. This event holds great importance for all Chinese people. 

The parade had two main parts and lasted 70 minutes. There were 45 teams in total, like air flag teams, food teams and equipment teams. All the weapons were made in China, and many new kinds appeared for the first time. 

This parade is very meaningful. First, it helps people remember history and respect the heroes who died for our country. Second, it shows how modern our military is and its ability to keep our country safe. Third, it tells the world China will keep the post-war order(战后秩序) and support global peace. 

During the parade, people from different fields were invited, including some from Taiwan. This tells us the war victory came from the unity of the whole Chinese nation. Also, the parade shows China's promise to build a better world for everyone. 

As teenagers, we should learn from history, study hard to improve our abilities and help our country develop. We must cherish peace and take action to protect it. The Chinese military is strong, but it will never use force to hurt other countries--it only wants to protect our country and people. 

Have you ever thought about riding a bicycle made of bamboo? In recent years, bamboo bicycles have become increasingly popular in China, as people look for ways to protect the environment while enjoying their daily activities. 

David Wang, who lives in Shanghai, has been making bamboo bicycles for several years. He explains that bamboo is perfect for building bikes. "China has a large number of bamboo resources, " David says. "What makes bamboo special is how quickly it grows— some types can grow nearly a meter in just one day! This rapid growth makes it a suitable choice. "

David first got the idea when he noticed that fewer people in cities were riding bicycles. "I wanted to make cycling popular again, especially to young people. " He started a bamboo bike Club named BBB (Bamboo Bicycles Beijing & Beyond) where members learn to build their own bikes. The process begins with choosing the right bamboo pieces. Then, members learn how to join the bamboo using special techniques. Finally, they add the wheels and other necessary parts. The whole process takes about two weekends to complete. 

Many young people have found the experience valuable. "It was challenging but really satisfying, " says 15-year-old Li Ming, who built his first bamboo bike last month. "There's something special about riding a bicycle that you made with your own hands. "

Bamboo bicycles have several advantages. They are lighter than regular metal bikes, making them easier to ride. The natural flexibility(灵活度) of bamboo also provides a comfortable ride, even on uneven roads. Most importantly, choosing a bamboo bike means supporting environmentally friendly transportation. It's an enjoyable way to contribute to a better world

On an evening in August 2025, Pang Zhongwang, a student from Tsinghua University, received the"Touching China"award for the year 2024. His life story has moved and encouraged many people. 

Pang grew up in a poor family. His father was badly ill, and his mother was born with a serious illness and could not walk. She had lost both legs. Pang himself had a heart problem since birth. Life was very hard. As a child, he often went to neighbors to borrow money for his mother's medicine and he collected waste paper and bottles to help his family pay back money. But he never lost hope. He always believed that"learning can change life". 

In 2017, he got high scores in the college exam and entered Tsinghua University. At first, he was worried that he might not do well. But soon he found his interest in doing research. He failed many times, but he never gave up. He did not accept money from others. Instead, he used money from school and prizes for his studies. His mother gave him the name"Zhongwang", which means"the hope of everyone". She taught him to always look toward the future. "My mother smiles every day—why should I be sad?" he said. 

Sadly, his mother died in 2020. At that time, he had just gotten a chance to study for a higher degree at the same university. Now, Pang has written research papers and has inventions under his name, he wants to use science to help his country. He even helped a young girl change to the subject she loved. His story gives light and hope to others. 

As the award said, "You left hard times behind, smiled at life, and walked ahead with strength. " Pang's journey tells us that with a strong heart and hope, we can answer the hopes of those who love us and make our own future bright.

It's common for kids to spend their free time playing video games. But Simar Khurana from Ontario, Canada, likes to create them too. 

Though Simar was only six years old, with her parents' encouragement, she started learning to code. Her father, Paras, later told Guinness World Records that  (每当) he tried, finding a coding class for her wasn't easy. He  (认为) that game development needs a lot of reading and writing. Most coding schools believed that it was  (不可能) for a six-year-old to finish such difficult tasks. Luckily, they finally found an  (卓越的) teacher who was glad to help her. 

As Simar moved forward  (快) with the help of teachers, her father thought  (也许) she might break the record for the youngest video game developer. However, she had only four months left before turning seven. "Simar worked quite hard, " Paras said. "Imagine a kid of the first  (年级) balanced school, homework, evening classes, and coding practice——it's hard even for grow-ups!" But Simar never gave up: She  （成功）in creating her first game, Healthy Food Challenge, at the age of 6 years and 364 days,  （只是）one day before her seventh birthday.

①Zheng Qingyun and his team are trying to help deaf people experience sounds. They' ve invented VirtX, a special suit(套装) that lets deaf people feel sounds. This suit uses special technology to make touch feelings from sounds. 

②The World Health Organization says over 1.5 billion people all over the world have hearing problems, which may rise to over 2.5 billion by 2030. In China, over 15% of people also have hearing problems, about 206 million in total. 

③Zheng, a 24-year-old student, said they decided to develop a product to help people sense sounds through touch. They used soft things like fabric(织物), with each thread(线) connected to a switch(开关). 

④"Clothing is a good way to bring this technology into people's daily lives. What's more important is that it can improve people's lives, " Zheng said. In the beginning, they wanted to help people with eye and hearing problems through touch. The outside part of the suit also has touch marks to help the people who can only see a little. 

⑤Deaf people often can't tell where sounds come from and this makes it hard for them to know what's around. For example, when a car passes by, most people can know its place and how far it is by sound. But deaf people are not able to tell these things. 

⑥VirtX tries to offer this information through touch to improve deaf people's daily life.     ▲     For example, noisy places may mess up the suit's touch. So far, customers' opinions have encouraged them to make products for more people and use the technology in many social areas like fun games, training, and medicine. 

⑦This year, the VirtX design won the top prize at the James Dyson Award in China. 

A new study found that helping the environment—picking up trash, using less plastic, or walking instead of driving—can make people just as happy as doing activities like hobbies. 

In his research, Michael Prinzing from Baylor University in Texas looked at how eco-friendly activities affect(影响) happiness. 

"Many people think it's hard to live in an eco-friendly way because it means giving up comfort. " Prinzing said. But helping others and being eco-friendly can actually make life more fun. 

His study was made up of two smaller studies. 

In the first study, 181 adults from 14 countries shared their daily activities and talked about how they felt for 10 days. The study found people felt happier on days when they did something good for the Earth. 

Prinzing's second study looked at 545 college students in the US. They were put into three groups—one group did eco-friendly activities, another did fun activities, and the third just had a normal day. After two days, people in both the eco-friendly group and the fun activity group felt much happier than those in the third group. 

These studies suggest that helping the Earth helps people feel good. 

Each study only took place over a few days, so more research is needed to see if the effects last longer. But either way, doing something good for the Earth could make your day better!

Among the team of China's Shenzhou-19 mission, Wang Haoze, may be the one who gets the most attention. 

What are the stories of this young woman astronaut? How did she get the"ticket" for Shenzhou-19?

Born in 1990 in Luanping, Hebei, WangHaoze is a member of the Manchu ethnic minority（少数民族）. Wang's father is a traffic policeman, and her mother is a middle school teacher. Her parents taught her from a young age that hard work is necessary, and it was with hard wok that Wang Haoze was always at the top of her class. 

In 2009, she went to the Southeast University in Nanjing, studying Thermal Energy and Power Engineering（热能与动力工程）. 

During university, Wang Haoze not only studied well, but also liked sports. She was also an athlete, who often stood for her school in different sports competitions. 

Wang also likes to challenge the unknown things. She enjoys the sense of achievement(成就) from being able to do something she couldn't do before. Wang Haoze's story shows us that with courage and hard work, we can get over difficulties and achieve our dreams. Her journey from a small town to space encourages us to keep moving forward and never give up.
