When a friend comes to you, its a good idea to help them forget their terible experience. But if you want to tell them your story that is similar to their experience, it's not always welcome. 

If you do feel that your experience might be helpful to hear, Miller's advice is to let your friends know that you went through something similar, but allow them to decide if they want to hear about it at the moment.

A heartfelt "I'm sorry" is a great help.

Because you cannot feel the same way as them. But Miller says a real, honest "I'm sorry" can help to make your friends feel heard and accepted. "Sometimes there isn't a perfect way to make people feel better,"" She says. "But what you need to do is to say "'You're not alone. I'm with you. I'm so sorry it's happening to you. '"

For more than a month, the world has been excited about a new Al model, DeepSeek-Rl. It was developed by DeepSeek, a Chinese business based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. 

The new AI came out on Jan. 20. In just one week, it beat OpenAI's ChatGPT and became the top free application in Apple's App Store, reported Xinhua. 

Its developer said that DeepSeek-R1 is as good at difficult tasks as other big models but needs less computing power. It is also the cheapest of its kind and took only about 5. 57 million US dollars (40. 58 million yuan) to develop. That is the way less than the hundreds of millions or even billions that US businesses have had to spend in building similar AI models. 

DeepSeek-Rl's success largely came from its special training method. Traditionally, AI is trained in two ways.  One is Chain-of-Thought (CoT,思维链), where AI learns to break problems into smaller, simpler steps. The other is Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT, 监督微调), which works by showing AI lots of practice problems along with the right answers for it to find a pattern. 

DeepSeek-RI, however, used Reinforcement Learning (RL, 强化学习)as the main method, Xinhua reported. In RL, AI learns by trying different things. It gets rewards for correct actions and gets punished for mistakes. For example, in a game, it gets points for picking up litter and     ▲    Over time, it works out the best solution all by itself. 

This is how DeepSeek-Rl has grown to be a reasoning model, which is a new type of AI, named Microsoft engineer Vinayak Hegde. Common AI models, like GPT-40, usually just give direct answers. But reasoning models are trained to both think and show the process. 

I was a pretty active child, always running around and knocking into things. My mother showed her worries to the doctor when he put stitches(缝合针)in my arm for the third time. The doctor suggested I should take up fishing. But since I had nearly died in a lake later, my mother ruled water out of my life. Finally, she chose reading as the only solution for my condition. 

For one hour a day, my mother ordered me to sit on a chair and read a book. I cried so hard that I couldn't see the letters. Then my teacher uncle walked in with a lot of books. He said all I had to do was reading the first twenty pages of a book. If I was still bored after that, I could put it down and pick up another.

Little by little, the books became longer and more difficult. I was in the middle of reading The Lord of the Rings when my mother said that I was reading too much and that I should run around outside like I used to. But by then. I was lost myself in long stories like Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. 

To this day, I think of books as a secret friend to whom I can always turn for advice. A good book must have two things: make us happy and teach us something. If a book doesn't interest you after twenty pages, put it down and try another. 

People usually think voluntering is just for adults. It seems hard for students like us. But it is totally different in Canada. The government encourages people of any age to volunteer in public and make contributions （贡献)to the whole society. Therefore, if students want to graduate(毕业)from high school, 30 hours of volunteering is needed. If students want to get into a good university, it helps if they contribute a lot to society. Volunteering is an important point that universities will think about. 

Besides, there are volunteer chances everywhere. People can find information about how to volunteer posted in the library or on the Internet. It includes many different jobs, such as wrapping(包装)gifts in a shopping mall, taking care of small kids or cleaning up a church. Students can choose what they want to do and register (注册) online. 

I got my first volunteer job at New Westminster Museum every Sunday from 9:30 a. m. to 11:30 a. m. My job is to check the documents(文 件)on a computer and correct mistakes. The historically important family in New Westminster. At first, I was nervous to communicate with others. But as time passed, I became more open. During the course of voluntering, I not only learned how to work with other volunteers but also learned a lot of history about New Westminster.

When you find a way to enjoy what you're studying, you'll be more motivated (激发) to do well in school — and might even have fun doing it!

If you can find the things you like learning about, this can help you become more interested in school in general. Think about which classes you pay the most attention to. This can help you know which subjects you are naturally interested in.

Try thinking about the purpose of the classes you are taking and think about classes as stepping stones. For example, if you want to go to high school, then you know you need to do well in your middle school classes, and this can encourage you to become interested in them.

At Tradewinds Middle School in the US, you can see a very special school garden. Green vegetables, strawberries and other plants grow out of plastic bottles hanging along a fence.

Program and create a nice environment, the school asks the sixth, seventh and eighth graders to grow different kinds of plants in their classrooms. Then they will move the plants to the campus. At the same time, students need to collect and analyze data (分析数据) of the plants. Surprisingly, they are very happy to do the job.
