On cold, winter nights when I was a boy, Mom would often let me help her make popcorn (爆米花) to eat while we watched television.  She would find an iron pot and light the fire under it. Then she would pour in a little oil and add some butter. Next she would put some kernels (玉米粒) in it. Together we would wait, listening to the sizzle(噬噬声) of the oil until we heard the first kernel popping(爆裂). 

After this we would all sit down in the living room, Dad and Nana in the chairs by the stove(炉子), and me, Mom, and my brothers on the sofa. 

The fun thing is that I can't really remember a single one of the programs that we watched on TV on those nights. What I can remember clearly, however, is the smell of the popcorn, the warmth of the bowl on my leg, the delicious taste of it, and most of all the joy I felt with Mom cuddled up next to me. There with my family all seemed right with the world. We didn't have a huge home, a lot of money, or even fancy snacks from the store but we had love and that was all we needed.

If the fear of failure is holding you back from chasing (追逐) your dreams, then Adrian Anantawan has a message for you. * This one-handed violin player is proving to the world that you can do anything you set your mind to. As he shares his beautiful music, he hopes to also share that important message. 

Adrian Anantawan had an excellent solo (独奏) when performing with the Boston Landmarks Orchestra. It was reported that he hoped when it was his turn to play, the audience would hear his violin and what it represented: the sound of possibility. 

While an inspirational (鼓舞人心的) musician is not unheard of, Adrian's physical condition makes him special. Adrian lost a right hand and most of his right forearm. With only five fingers to work with, Adrian found many instruments difficult. 

His violin has a special device (装置) that allows him to use his shoulder to make the sound. The musician said, "From the very first note that I was playing, I was really attracted to the sound and the connection of my body to the instrument and being able to express my imagination. "

Although Adrian Anantawan believes that the amazing help of the engineers and his special instrument are important, he thinks that his success did not start from there. Adrian says it all starts with a belief (信念) in oneself. He thinks that teachers and supporters in children's lives need to make them believe that they can accomplish anything. With that attitude, anything truly is possible. 

A lesson we can all learn from Adrian is not to let the fear of failure stop you from trying. Believe in yourself and go after your dreams.

Never look down on Kanya Sesser. This talented skateboarder, model, and actor continues to prove that not having legs doesn't mean she can't follow her dreams. From the moment Kanya was born, she has faced difficulties. They all started when she was born without any legs. Soon after, she was abandoned (遗弃) on the side of a road in Thailand. The only reason she was found is because her cries could be heard from a nearby house. 

Thankfully, the kind people who found her were happy to help. Then, at 5 years old, Kanya was adopted, and her new life in the United States began. * Early on, it was clear to Kanya's adoptive parents that she was the adventurous type. She rarely (很少) wanted to stay inside the house, and she fell in love with skateboarding as soon as her friend gave her the chance. 

"My first attempt(尝试) was riding down the hill by my house and it was the best feeling ever!" Kanya said. 

Over the years, Kanya would go on to try a number of sports, which include rugby, swimming, wheelchair racing, and more. Kanya is such a skilled athlete, in fact, that she competed in the Paralympics(残奥会) in track. Now, she can add Guinness World Records holder to her long list of results!

What did Kanya do in order to win such an amazing recognition? She completed the longest handstand (倒立)on a skateboard. During this, she supported herself only with her hands, for a total of 19. 65 seconds. 

"It's so hard for me to make history for others to see, " Kanya says. "I have made an impact on others for the next generation to come. "

As a teenager growing up in Great Britain, Lola Anderson was inspired (激励) by the rowing events at the 2012 London Olympics. 

Moved by the athletes' strength and will, she decided to take up the sport herself. 

In her diary, she expressed her dream of winning an Olympic gold medal in rowing. Embarrassed (尴尬的) by her dream, Lola tore out the diary page and threw it away. 

"I threw that away because I didn't believe," Lola recalled. "I was 14 at the time, so why would I believe? It's difficult for young girls to see themselves as strong players, but that's changing now. "

Though Lola didn't believe herself at first, she continued rowing with her father's support. 

In 2019, as Don Anderson fought against cancer, he presented Lola with a surprise. * He gave Lola the page she had torn from her diary years earlier. Don had found it in the trash and kept it, believing she would need it one day. 

Don passed away months later, but his faith(信念) in his daughter's dream remained. 

His faith came true in the end when Lola took part in her first Olympic Games as a member of the women's quadruple sculls rowing(女子四人双桨赛艇) team. Her team won the gold medal by 0. 15 seconds. 

After the race, Lola thought of her father's support. 

"It's a piece of paper, but it's the most valuable thing I have, " she said. "Maybe together with this medal now. "

The Beijing Municipal Education Commission has announced that starting from the fall semester in 2024, primary and middle schools in the city will extend the break time between classes from 10 minutes to 15 minutes. This (decide) aims to improve the physical and mental health of students. 

For elementary schools, the morning arrival time, afternoon dismissal time (放学时间), lunch break schedules(时间表) will stay unchanged. In middle schools, only  dismissal time will be extended by 5 minutes, while (other) will stay largely the same. 

Wang Pan, the deputy (副) director of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, said, " Students will have more time (relax), rest, and take part in physical activities outdoors, which can effectively protect their eyes and improve their(physics) health. "

A student from a poor family, who once worked odd jobs on construction sites(建筑工地) to help his family from burdens, has greatly changed through education at Tsinghua University. 

Shan Xiaolong was born into a farmer's 1 in Xiji County, Guyuan, Ningxia. His father, once a worker, suffered a back injury that 2 him from continuing heavy work. His mother has been 3 an eye disease for many years. 

At Tsinghua University, Shan changed 4 a "construction site boy" to a regular student who focused on his studies. He said, "I come to Tsinghua 5 I want to contribute more to the country, do important research, and really make a 6 for people. "

For the 23-year-old Zhang Liang, physical disability has never been an obstacle (障碍)to stop him from achieving success. 

Zhang, from Susong County, Anhui Province, has a condition called "brittle bone disease". This is a rare illness that makes his bones very weak since he was a child. 

Though often fractures (骨折) meant he could not walk on his own, he stayed positive and hard-working. In 2022, Zhang used a twister car (扭扭车) to take the national college entrance exam, touching the hearts of many people. His hard work paid off. He did well in the exam and got into Anhui Polytechnic University. 

Getting rid of the twister car and walking on his own was always Zhang's dream. After entering the university, with the help of his professor, he and several classmates formed a small scientific research team to design a set of special wearable devices. 

With the support of warm-hearted people, they finally completed the design scheme (方案) using the 3Dprinting technology. Helped by the set of devices, Zhang finally managed to stand and walk. 

He also took part in the recent college students' career planning competition in Anhui Province and won the second prize in the higher education group. 

 He said he hopes to use his knowledge and practical experience to help more disabled people with intelligent(智能的) equipment.

Recently, an online video showing a girl with cerebral palsy (脑瘫) from Chongqing impressed many people. She broke free from her assistive device(辅助设备) and bravely managed to reach the finish line at her school's sports meeting. 

Li Wenya, 10 years old, has been suffering from cerebral palsy since she was seven months old. 

Her mother, Cheng Ping, gave birth to her and her twin sister at an advanced age. Wenya, the older one of the twins, was found to have the disease. Cheng and her husband then started to take Wenya to see doctors and help her with rehabilitation (康复) training. 

Before Wenya attended the school, her mother had considered sending her to special schools for the disabled. But she knew that her daughter wanted to live a normal life like her peers(同龄人). 

After much thought, Cheng decided to send Wenya to a primary school in the city. 

Instead of accepting the school's offer that teachers could visit her family twice a week to teach her daughter, the mother decided to accompany her daughter to study at school. 

To provide Wenya with more conveniences, the school specially emptied a room for her, which was equipped with a table, a bench and a simple bed. What the school did made it easier for Cheng to take care of her daughter there. 

Last year, the school also arranged a 30-meter race especially for Wenya, after learning that the girl was eager to participate in school sports. 

This year, the school increased the running distance to 40 meters, and encouraged the girl to get rid of her assistance for the last 10 meters. To their surprise, Wenya finally made it. 

"There's a shining light in her eyes, which is full of confidence for the future, " said Cheng.

Every Tuesday, music teacher Wen Jin goes to Miaoxi Primary School, located in a mountainous village in Hengyang County of Hengyang City, Hunan Province. There, he provides lessons and helps students practice for the school band. 

The school has just 32 students, one fourth of whom have joined the band. 

Most of the students are left-behind children whose parents work in cities. Most are cared for by their grandparents or other relatives. 

Wen began coming to the school as a volunteer music teacher in 2022.  As long as the rural (农村的) roads are accessible (可进入的), he comes every Tuesday to tea ch two music classes. The school band was set up in September 2023. 

The students said participating in (参加) the band has changed their lives for the better, making them more outgoing. Some of them, following Wen's lead, want to teach music in the future themselves. 

Wen said he hopes music will be a positive influence and give them a better future. 

Wen continues to inspire (激励) his students with lively music lessons, encouraging them to express themselves through instruments. He believes that music can open doors and bring joy to their lives.

After trekking (徒步旅行) 22, 000 kilometers on foot across a dozen countries, Vienna Cammarota arrived in China via Irkeshtam, the farthest west land port in China, on August 29. 

The local government wwelcomed the 75-year-old woman and people performed traditional dances and songs, then presented her with a wreath(花环) standing for f and blessings. 

Beginning in Kashgar, Xinjiang, Cammarota will start a 15-month cjourney across China. 

She says she hopes to keep f in the footsteps of Marco Polo by exploring over 30 cities in 17provinces and autonomous regions, i Xinjiang, Gansu, Shaanxi, Fujian, Guangzhou and Beijing, where her journey will end to mark the 750th anniversary of Marco Polo's arrival in China in 1275. 

Cammarota is an adventurous and culturally driven tShe began studying The Travels of Marco Polo in 2000 and pto retrace(重走) the Venetian merchant's route along the Silk Road. She aims to experience the d cultural root of Chinese civilization(文明), know about the dand achievements of modern China, and call for global harmony and inclusiveness(和谐与包容). 

Her journey is not only a personal challenge ba bridge for cultural exchange. As she travels, Cammarota plans to write down her experiences and share them through various forms of media to make others know about the richness of Chinese culture.

The book The Art of War by Sun Tzu has inspired young people in Kenya who are eager(渴望的) to face the challenges at the moment and create a better future.

Students at the Confucius Institute in Kenyatta University, which is the second-oldest university in Kenya, say that after reading Sun Tzu's books, they feel a strong 1 to be positive, brave, and quick when facing challenges.

Kenyatta University recently 2 a Study House of Sun Tzu, where his famous books are shown and can be read by local students and their teachers. 

Eddy Paul Kirimi, a 20-year-old Chinese language student at the university's Confucius Institute, says he 3 the publication of The Art of War while doing online research, and it made him really 4 . 

"The book itself talks about the art of war. I think it 5 a lot in life and also in jobs. * The most outstanding lesson I have learned from the book is that in 6 situation, you have to be brave and strong, " Kirimi says.

Green tea

Oolong tea

Yellow tea

White tea

White tea is a unique product in China because of its mellow (醇香的) and mild flavor. It is a non-fermented tea with similar characteristics to green and yellow teas. White tea is mainly produced in Fujian Province. White tea is usually divided into silver needle, white peony, Gong Mei amd Shou Mei. 

Black tea

Black Tea is a fermented tea with a delicious aromatic(芳香的) taste and a deep reddish color. It is the second most popular Chinese tea after green tea. * The favorite brand of black tea is Keemun, which is produced mainly in Qimen, Dongzhi, and Shitai in Anhui Province. 

Dark tea

Dark tea, also known as Hei Cha, stands as one of China's important tea types. It gets its name from its dark appearance during processing. Growers plant it mainly in Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangxi, Hunan, Shaanxi, Anhui, and other regions. It includes Yunnan Pu'er tea, Guangxi Liubao tea, and so on.

In the early Warring States period of Chinese history, China went through a lot of political changes. During this time, the Zhou Dynasty was divided into several smaller states that competed against each other. This background leads to the story of Tian Guang, a famous strategist (战略家) and advisor. His story, "Tian Guang Surrenders to the Sword", tells us about the importance of honor, making sacrifices, and staying true to what is right.
