Many farmers in China (try) to move to the cities in the past. In their eyes, it was only in the cities that they could realize (实现) their hopes of (earn) a lot of money and having a happy life. They thought life in the cities was more (color) than that in the countryside. In fact, with the (develop) of society, things in the countryside have changed (great) now. In hot summers, we often buy bottled water, drink it all up, and then throw away the bottles. It's said that more than 1 million water bottles are sold every minute around the world. Sales of bottled water are expected to double (翻倍) by 2030. However, using and throwing away so many bottles can cause big problems for society and the environment.

The social problems

In some rich countries, clean running water is everywhere. But people think bottled water is healthier and more delicious. That's the opinion driven by bottled water companies. In poor countries, people choose bottled water more often because they don't have ways to drink safe tap water (自来水). So this can draw people's attention away from the real problems of public water systems (系统).

The environmental problems

Most plastics are not recycled and end up in landfills (垃圾填埋场). It can take up to 1,000 years for these bottles to break down in nature. And they can get into the ocean and bring harm to sea animals. The main source of bottled water is groundwater. However, groundwater is rapidly getting less in some areas because of excessive extraction (过度开采) and climate change. And the bottled water industry may make the lower water supply even worse.

Here are some tips for you. You should try to save water and use reusable bottles instead of throwing away plastic bottles after drinking them.

Global warming is a huge problem and it is going to take everyone's effort to solve it. Here are many small things we can do to make a difference.

Drive less. Ask your parents to use public transportation as much as possible instead of using cars too often.

Think before you throw away waste. Cut down on how much you throw away the waste. And be sure to put different waste into different bins.

Refuse packaging too much. When it comes to your shopping habits, think of buying products that are better for the environment or that are made from recycled materials.

Use less hot water. It takes a lot of energy to heat water. Don't always heat the water when you do washing with the washing machine.

Spread the word. Talk to your friends, family and school teachers. Let them know the importance of being a greener person.

With a little effort in changing some of our daily activities and patterns, most of us can help our planet.

Most people just throw them away. With the development of electronic industry, e-waste pollution has become a serious problem. According to the United Nations, in 2024, people around the world produced 41.8 million tons of e-waste and only recycled 6.5 million tons. China was the biggest waster, producing 10.378 million tons. The USA came second, with 7.374 million tons.

It's important to pay attention to e-waste. It can either be valuable (有价值的) or hazardous, depending on how we deal with it. E-waste is a valuable urban mine (城市矿山). The value of the metals, like gold and silver in the waste around the world, is amazing. And the metals can be reused. But if people throw them away, the toxic (有毒的) chemicals can get into the earth or air, affecting the environment and people's health.

Apple, for example, now recycles people's used electronic products in China when they are buying new ones. The company (公司) will test and repair the used ones and sell them at lower prices. To help reduce e-waste, we can also take computers and phones to see if companies offer recycling programs.

My family had a good driver, John. He worked for us for years. He took me to and from school. One day, when we stopped in the busy traffic, a young street child went to us and called, "Hi, John!" John then gave him a little money and said goodbye to him with a smile before we went on to school.

John's action made me think of his life. I knew that John worked hard to make money. He had a large family himself. We always sent food and clothes to his family. I couldn't understand why he gave money to the child.

"Who was that?" I asked.

"My friend," he answered. "Sometimes I see him on my way to work and I give him a little money."

I still wasn't able to understand, so I asked, "Why do you give him money?"

John answered, "He is hungry, but he has no money to buy food. So he can use it to buy something to eat."

At that moment, I understood what kindness (善良) really was.

Every Friday, my grandfather gave me some chocolates. I would save some so I could give them to John's friend.

I lived in a town. My father told me that there used to be a1 near our town. But the farmers2 trees every year until one year, there were no trees left.

Achieving the rejuvenation (复兴) of the Chinese nation has been greatest dream of the Chinese people modern times. It is called the Chinese Dream. Its basic idea is to make the country strong allow the people to lead a happy life. The Chinese Dream is dream of peace, development, cooperation and mutual benefit (互利), and its realization (实现) will be good for both the Chinese people and the people of the world.

To make the Chinese Dream come true, each Chinese has to work as hard as they can, only by working hard can we make our dreams come true.
