Hi! I'm the old Beijing-Zhangjiakou railway. I've felt happy recently because a new high-speed railway now connects the two cities. Do you want to know my story?

I was China's first self-built railway. I was born in 1909. I'm 115 years old now. My builder was Zhan Tianyou. He was a brave (勇敢的) and smart man. He believed China should build its own railways without other countries' help. So he built me.

Before 2020, my trains were very slow. At first, the trains used steam. Their top speed was only 35 km/h. Then, the trains started to use diesel (柴油). Later, there were even better trains. The train used electricity (电). But it still took more than three hours to travel from Beijing to Zhangjiakou, Hebei.

In 2020, the new high-speed railway opened on December 30th. I was so excited. It helped people travel much faster. The high-speed trains had a top speed of 350 km/h! It only took 47 minutes to travel from Beijing to Zhangjiakou.

During the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Beijing and Zhangjiakou welcomed lots of people from around the world. The railway played an important role.

I'm too old to keep working these days, so people keep me as part of history. It's a little sad. But I'm still proud of all the changes China has made. Zhan Tianyou must be proud, too.

Speak loudly. When you are not confident, you can't do what you want to do well. Try to speak loudly enough so that people can hear you clearly. The high voice can help you become more confident.

Play sports. Physical exercise makes you tired but really relaxed. A strong body helps you be full of confidence.

Make a list of good things. Write down a list of things you did to see how many things you have finished well. Did you finish your homework? Did you clean your room? Give yourself a prize when you do well.

Get out of fear. Fear comes along with fail. But it's easy to overcome if you know that fail is a part of your life. Don't be afraid of failing. Try to start again and believe you can do better.

Take up a hobby. If you like singing, sing as much as you can. A hobby can make you unique. And it can make you happy and confident.

Frank thought for a minute and laughed. "After school I went fishing myself," he said. "I didn't think I would have any luck. But I did. I caught a fish!"

We must learn not only words but also the use of them in sentences. We must learn by using the language. "Learn through using" is a good piece of advice for people to study a new language. Practice is very important. We must practice speaking and writing the language whenever we can.
