Cross-bridge (桥) rice noodles is a famous dish (菜肴) in Yunnan..

Oxygen is very important because we need it to breathe (呼吸).

The workers work hard all day. They keep the plant healthy and help it grow. When the night comes, the workers take a rest and wait for the next day to begin.

Plants do more than just give us food and oxygen. They help clean the air and keep the world healthy. Without plants, the world would be very different.

What Can We Learn from a Dictionary?

A dictionary has many things we need to know about a word. First, it gives the meaning of the word, such as "lovely" which means "cute." Second, it tells us the pronunciation (e. g. "unit" is pronounced /'ju:nɪt/). Third, it gives us the part of speech (like "happy" is an adjective (形容词), and "laugh" is a verb). Finally, a dictionary gives us example sentences to show how the word is used.

How Can We Use a Dictionary?

First, find the part of the dictionary where the word may be, using its alphabetical order (字母顺序). After finding the right page, look for the word, read its meaning, and learn how to pronounce it. For example, if you want to find the word "desk", you would go to the part starting with "D". Next, look at the second letter "e", and you will find the word "desk". After that, you can read its meaning, pronunciation and so on.

Why Do We Use a Dictionary Daily?

Using a dictionary helps you become a better reader and writer. It's helpful to use an English-Chinese or English-English dictionary. The more you use a dictionary, the better your English will get!

Our English teacher, Ms. Chen, writes a saying and its writer on the blackboard and says, "Please write this down." We all start to write. I write the first word, but then I stop.
