How often do you have dinner with your family ?

Studies show that family dinner hour is an important part of ( health ) living. When family members eat together , they are more likely （可能的） to eat ( much ) fruit and vegetables and less junk food. When younger kids often eat dinner with( they ) family, they are less likely to be overweight(超重的). 

In the US , about one in five children aged 6-19 are overweight. That puts them at higher risk of many health( problem ) later in life.

" One of the simplest ways for parents to understand their teenagers better is by( have ) family dinners often ," said Joseph Califon, an expert from Columbia University.

Joseph did a national phone survey of 1,000 teenagers and 829( parent ) of teenagers. The survey results show that eating dinner as a family helped kids in many ( way ). It helped them get better grades, and kept them away from bad habits like( smoke ), drinking and taking drugs .

In fact, it's not the family dinner that's important; it's the time together. It doesn't have to be dinner.

It could be lunch breakfast. The point(重点) is not being in the same space at the same time while( eat ). The point is sharing and communication.

My anger exploded(爆发)a few weeks ago. It started when we drove to Aunt Jen's farm. My little brother Tex1 his toy, so we drove home to pick it up.

Just a few minutes later , I realized my cookies for Aunt were still in the kitchen. I spent a whole afternoon making them.

" I'm afraid we don ' t have2 ," said my mom." Take them next time !"

I didn't say a word and just pushed down my feelings,3 my mind kept going over all those little things on the way.

Spending a lovely day on Aunt Jen's farm , we set off for home. As soon as we got home, Tex ran inside for4 .

" Hang on, honey," Mom called me." Give me a hand with these bags."

" I know I' m older , so I have to be responsible(负责任的) for10 things, but I wish things could be ... fairer !" I said first in the meeting .

 Dad touched his head ," Sorry, honey. We didn't know you were11 so many feelings."

" Let ' s try this !" Mom12 paper and pencils." Write down the unfair things this week--even tiny ones !"

We wrote quietly. My paper said ," No one sees when I do things right ."" Ah !" Mom read my 13 carefully ." How about starting a ' Good Job Bottle '? You can add a stone into the bottle if you help others. When the bottle is14 , that means a pizza-movie night !"

" That sounds nice. I can give it a try," I said. The others also agreed.

 After the meeting, I felt lighter. It's OK to let yourself get angry. But don't 15 to speak it out. Just speak up right away when you need to.

Having meals with friends or family is wonderful. Is dining alone bad ? Maybe not . 

At dinner time , do you often spend a long time discussing with others what kind of food to eat , which restaurant to choose or when to meet? 

Dinning alone can give you some time to yourself. You can use the time to organize your thoughts.Both are fantastic .

By yourself , you can take as little or as much time as you want to eat your meal. So you won ' t wait for anyone or feel rushed .

When you book a seat in a restaurant , it is usually easier to get a seat for one person . If there  isn‘t a table , you can easily get a seat at the bar . 

See , there are some good points of dinning alone . Why not try it sometime ?

Memory: your brain is like a muscle-- use it or lose it

The human brain is very small and light (only two per cent of our total body weight), but it needs about 20% of the oxygen(氧气）that our body takes in. We can't think well if our brain isn't getting enough oxygen, so always make sure there is enough oxygen in the air when you need to learn or remember something!

No one can remember everything, but everyone can Learn how to improve their memory. Here are some tips- none of them can make your memory 100% perfect, but all of them are helpful:

●When you want to remember something, tell a friend about it. This way the new information becomes more memorable. Later on, think about the conversation with your friend. It will remind you of the information you wanted to remember.

●Don't over-train your brain. When you've remembered a List of new vocabulary, stop studying. It's better to study a Lot of material for a small amount of time than a small amount of material for a lot of time! But remember: you do have to practise your new vocabulary regularly.

●Our memory works well when we are asleep. If you want to remember something, go to bed and go to sleep immediately after learning it.

●If you have to remember something big, break it down into smaller sections. Its easier to remember 198756430387 if you break it into four smaller bits: 198 - 756 - 430 - 387.

●If you want to remember a piece of information, and you can't, don't get angry. Relax and tell yourself, If it's important I will remember it later.

●One of the best ways of remembering is to make "pictures" on the "movie-screen" of your mind - and it's fun too! Experts say that our brain works a Lot in pictures. So sometimes, if we want to remember new information, it helps to make a picture story. Anyone can Learn to do this.

Wilbur often thought of Charlotte. All winter Wilbur watched over Charlotte's eggs. For Wilbur, nothing in life was as important . He waited for the big day to come.

One sunny morning, Wilbur saw something move -- a very small spider. It was similar to Charlotte. Then three more , then eight , then ten ... Charlotte ' s children were here at the end.

" I'm an old friend of your mother's ," said Wilbur." I'm excited to see you." The little spider were excited to see him too.

One day , Wilbur felt a warm wind come into the barn (畜棚). As he watched, one baby spider rose  slowly.
