Kunqu Opera ( 昆 曲 ) , also called Kunqiang or Kunju, is one of the oldest operas in China. It has a long history of over 600 years and it is called the Mother of Chinese

Operas. But this is not only because of its history, but also being intriguing. It always catches people's eyes and ears. 

At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, Gu Jian, an artist in Kunshan near Suzhou, worked together with other artists and they first created" Kunshan qiang". Then in the Ming Dynasty, Wei Liangfu, a great opera artist, changed it and a new kind of opera, Kunqu Opera, came into being. After that, his student Liang Chenyu made more changes to Kunqu Opera and made the first Kunqu play in Chinese history—Huanshaji. Later, more and more artists started to write plays. In the Ming and Qing dynasties, Kunqu Opera was quite popular in China. It was the No. 1 opera till Beijing Opera took its place. 

Kunqu Opera has lots of plays from the old times. Many of them are still popular today, such as The Peony Pavilion by Tang Xianzu, The Kite by Li Yu, The Peach Blossom Fan by Kong Shangren and The Palace of Eternal Youth by Hong Sheng. The Peony Pavilion is the very best of all the Kunqu Opera plays. It tells the love story between Liu Mengmei and Du Liniang around a number of dreams. 

In 2001, UNESCO listed Kunqu Opera as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity(人类口头和非物 质遗产代表作). And because of people's hard work, Kunqu Opera is coming back to life. 

Johnny, a 15-year-old student, is checking his dad's old jacket. He says, "You're 45, Dad. You're never going to wear this again. Can I have it?"

Keith, Johnny's dad, has had a bad day at work, and he's feeling old. And Johnny has hit his sore spot(痛处). Keith raises his voice and says, "What? You mean I'm too old to wear the jacket again?"

Accept your feelings and consider other people's feelings. That means not always making yourself" right" or" clever" and  others "wrong" or "silly". 

Explain yourself and express your true thoughts, so you can speak out your ideas by starting with "I "but not" You …". 

Don't decide others' purposes by your guesses(猜测). Try to find out what he or she is feeling, and admit(承认)it if you were wrong. 

Don't forget that it's never too late to start the ways of communicating. 

Lily really loves to paint. She 1 lots of her free time drawing and wants to join the school art show. But she's worried that other people may not like her work.

Although youth is the most wonderful time in our lives, there can still be problems. 

I loved playing volleyball and joined the school volleyball team when I was in Grade Seven. My friend Tara joined it after me. From then on, I was unhappy a long time. 

 I thought I played better than her, others didn't think so. At school, teachers and teammates always smiled at her and gave her a thumbs-up(赞扬) but paid no attention to me. Nobody encouraged me. 

I couldn't understand it. I thought I was  unlucky person. But my mum said it didn't matter. She encouraged me  practise harder and I did. The teachers then noticed me and realised I was good at volleyball. 

I think most students would feel sad if they had the same experience  I did. My advice is to just keep going. Stop complaining(抱怨)and prove yourself by doing better!

I'm happy to tell you some changes about me. 

Here's a story about how I learned to play the piano. For some people, p  the piano is easy. They learned when they were c . I was afraid o  music lessons when I was a six-year-old boy. But I decided to l  to play. 

I had piano lessons. During the first few lessons, I did b  I felt very upset, so I told my problems to my teacher, and asked h  to give me some advice. My teacher said I was not careful enough. I thought she was right. From then on, I practised for two hours every day a  school. Little by little, I improved.
