Joining in the hokey cokey

To bring the history of the town to life, the hokey cokey becomes part of Dorchester's Heritage Open Day event. That day, the roads are closed to traffic and lots of free activities are held. As part of the fun, everyone is invited to come dancing in the streets. Look!

Hundreds of people put their arms and legs in, then out, then shake them all around.

Highland dancing is probably the most famous type of Scottish dancing. It is a fun and quick traditional dancing. It is often done to bagpipe music and performed at events such as Highland competitions. It's performed by young and old dancers. Men and women dance together.

More and more traffic accidents are happening because more drivers use mobile phones when they are driving. In order to make drivers pay more attention to driving, some new traffic rules have been made. For example, people who use mobile phones while driving in Taiwan are fined. Car drivers and motorcyclists who break the traffic rule will be fined NT $3,000 and NT $1,000 respectively.

As we can see above, using mobile phones may cause accidents and even cost a lot of money. Also, more and more interesting and strange facts happen to the "Heads-down Tribe". Let's have a look at an interesting TV report. A man in America kept using his mobile phone on his way home. As a result, he knocked into a big lost bear. When he lifted his eyes from the phone, he was so afraid that he turned around and ran away quickly.

Another fact is that we can often see people in the restaurant eating face to face but looking at their own mobile phones. It's strange that they don't talk to the ones who sit opposite to them during the meal. Some of them even have fun communicating with others on the phone.

Mobile phones are helpful and necessary tools for modern life. Are mobile phones good or bad? It depends on how people use them. Let's be "healthy" users and try to be the "Heads-up Tribe".

Official data shows that Guangdong in South China has been the only province with over 1 million births for four years in a row and the top for births for six years. In 2023,there were 1.03 million births in Guangdong, and the birth rate was 8.12 per thousand. Henan in Central China had 695,000 births and was second. Shandong in East China had 610,000 births and was third.

For the birth rate, among the provinces with data, six had a rate over 8 per thousand. They are Guizhou, Hainan, Qinghai, Yunnan, Guangdong, and Guangxi, mostly in the west and south.

Usually, places with high birth rates have lower urbanization rates. But Guangdong is an exception. It has an urbanization rate of 75.42 percent, ranking fourth in the country, but a high birth rate in 2023.

Guangdong has the most permanent residents and many outsiders come. The population coming in is young and many are of marriage and childbearing age. In some places in Guangdong like Chaoshan and Zhanjiang, the willingness to have babies is high because of the traditional culture.

While the birth population and rate are going down in many provinces, Hainan in South China is different. In 2023, there were 96,000 births,7,900 more than the year before. The birth rate was 9.28 per thousand, 0.68 more.

Besides birth data, the statistics from different regions also show the trends of resident population growth and migration. Of 28 provinces with data, nine have more permanent residents. Zhejiang and Guangdong have the biggest increases, 500,000 and 490,000.

Population migration shows that the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta are where people go. In provinces, people move from small and medium cities and rural areas to central cities. Even if some provinces have less people, the capital cities still have more. Analysts say the capital cities have more chances and jobs, so they attract people.

Langshan Mountain, a beautiful place, is in Xinning County, the  part of Hunan Province. It's famous  its Danxia Landform(丹霞地貌). A few million years ago, there was a lake. In 2010, Langshan Mountain was recorded on the UNESCO World Heritage List and became China's   world natural heritage. Along Langshan Mountain is a beautiful river— Fuyi River. Enjoying the peace of the river after visiting the mountain can bring you great joy. Fuyi River is the mother river of Xinning County. The water is   clear that you can see fish and sand under it. The sand on the beach is pure and white. It's one of the world's most wonderful places. More and more   come to have a look every day. Welcome to Langshan Mountain.

There are copies of your DNA in every part of your body. 

You have your own unique DNA, but it repeats patterns from your parents' DNA. From your DNA, scientists can identify not only you, but also people who are related to you. Your parents and grandparents are related to you, and you have their DNA. When you have a grandson or granddaughter, he or she will have your DNA. Your DNA comes from your parents.

Your DNA has billions of instructions that explain why you are the way you are. 

During the Spring Festival, I went to Chiang Rai. I traveled around Thailand with two good friends. We had a1 time. They both had to go back home on the seventh day. But I had decided to stay for 2 week in Thailand. I had never spent longer time in a foreign country. 3 exciting the trip is!

But after seeing my friends off at the airport, I felt a little sad. It took me three hours from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai. It was 4 a long way that I felt a little painful. It was the first time that I had ever traveled in a foreign country alone. The thought of loneliness 5 my heart. After a short nap(打盹), I arrived at Chiang Rai. There was no taxi in sight. I had no idea 6 get to my hotel. I'm sure the look of worry showed on my face. 7 a police officer came over and caught a taxi for me. A smile came across my face with the kindness of this stranger. And as I walked into the taxi, the driver greeted me warmly. When he knew I was a Chinese, the driver offered 8 for free. He said he was happy to meet with a Chinese at the Spring Festival. I was deeply moved by the strangers' kindness and I was touched by 9 kind actions.

As I walked into the hotel, I was once again greeted with beautiful smiles. Sitting alone in my room, I started to plan my 10 around Chiang Rai happily. I took a good rest and set off the next morning with a smile on my face.
