Xu Jian is a visually impaired（视力受损的）woman in Shenzhen, Guangdong. For the past seven years, Xu's guide dog Daimeng has been at her side at work and for everyday activities.

Xu got the dog from the China Guide Dog Training Center in Dalian, Liaoning Province, the first guide dog training center on the Chinese mainland. Wang Jingyu, a professor at Dalian Medical University, set it up in 2006. Over the years, the center has trained about 400 guide dogs, with more than 350 now serving in 27 provinces and cities across China.

According to Wang Xin, a trainer in the center,90 percent of the center's guide dogs are Labradors, which are kind and smart. Once trainers find good guide baby dogs, the dogs need to take personality tests. A good guide dog should not be too curious, excitable or shy as these personalities could cause problems during work, according to Wang.

One volunteer, Sun, has raised four baby dogs since 2019. "Raising guide dogs is quite different from raising pet dogs," said Sun. She strictly follows the center's guidelines for their care. She also guides them along raised paths made for visually impaired people so they can feel them and know they are safe.

However, even if the dogs pass all tests, they could still be turned down if they don't enjoy the role of a guide dog, Wang added. Typically, guide dogs serve for 6 to 10 years. Those who are turned down or are too old are usually taken in as pets by their trainers, those who raised them, or volunteers.

There was once a poor man who lived in a village. Every day, he walked through the village looking for someone who could give him a little work. When he was lucky, he made enough money to buy one small meal.

One day, the man saw a fat goose run by, so he caught it. "What a hearty meal you will make!"said the man. "Tonight my stomach will be full."

"Do not eat me!" cried the goose. "I am a goose like no other. If you feed me and take care of me, I will lay golden eggs for you."

As soon as he woke up the next morning, the man rushed over to the goose. Under the goose he found a large, shiny egg made of gold. He took the egg to the market and sold it for lots of money.When he came home, his arms were full of food, including good food for the goose.

Each day, the goose laid another golden egg and the man sold it. Before long, the man was very rich, yet he wanted to become even richer. "Why should I spend so much money on food for the goose?" he asked himself. He decided to cut the goose open and get all the golden eggs at once.

The man cut the goose open and found no golden eggs. "What have I done?" he cried.

"For thousands of years, humans have raced to be the first to climb a peak（顶峰）, or record a new species or landscape. Now, sometimes, we' re racing to be the last, " said The New York Times'  Paige McClanahan. 

In recent years, last-chance tourism has been growing fast. It is a kind of tourism with the purpose of seeing the last of something due to climate change. As temperatures and water levels rise, this could mean taking the last chance to see the Great Barrier Reef, an Arctic glacier（冰川）and an island that is sinking. 

As millions of tourists rush to endangered tourist spots, some people think it is good for improving environmental awareness. One tourist spot, Charmonix's"the Sea of Ice" in France, opened a glacier museum in 2012 to teach visitors on glaciers and climate change. This push seems to be meaningful, as a 2020 survey showed that 80 percent of the visitors would  "try to learn more about the environment and how to protect it", while 77percent said they would reduce their water and energy use. 

However, the last-chance tourism industry may also be harmful. As more and more people rush into these areas to see them before they' re gone, they in fact increase greenhouse gas emissions（排放）and over-tourism, leading to more harms to the spot. 

Many scholars are calling last-chance tourism a paradox（悖论）. Although tourists may realize the wider risks and importance of climate change, it's even more important to connect the responsibility of the personal tourism to climate change of the world. 

Through the 144-hour visa-free transit policy, Sofia Reznikova, a 31-year-old lady from Russia, started her trip to China. 

The first highlight of her stay in Shenzhen was the robotic delivery service. "It is fun (get) food as a cute robot arrived at my door with my meal, " said Reznikova. After(choose) her meal, the staff put the food into the robot' s  "belly"

She also had an amazing experience at the Chimelong Safari Park in Guangzhou. There, she used the "Chimelong AR Zoo" on her phone. "The app uses AR to help (visit) interact with the park' s wildlife, "she said. Using the app, she could see virtual animals appear truly  front of her. It also made sure she didn' t miss any must-sees.  she walked through the park, she learned many fun facts about the animals from the app. 

"I felt a sense of unbelievable comfort during my travels in China, " Reznikova said.
