American basketball coach Rudy Tomjanovich's famous saying has turned out to be true once again. 

Ma Long, the team leader of the Chinese men's table tennis team, won his second Olympic gold medal（金牌）in men's singles（单打比赛）in the Tokyo Olympics after beating his teammate Fan Zhendong an achievement that no male（男性的）player has ever made before. After the win, Ma put two arms overhead and made a "heart" toward the crowds. He later explained as a move for his family and the team. Also, this showed the heart of a champion. 

Already the World Championships（锦标赛）and the World Cup winner, Ma achieved his Grand Slam（大满贯）after winning the Rio 2016 Olympic gold medal. The 32-year-old is also a champion of many international events. But Ma's road back to success is never easy. 

After getting his Grand Slam, Ma decided to have surgery（手术）on his left knee to be fully fit for the Tokyo Olympics. Before the surgery, Ma cut his hair very short as he wanted to start all over again. 

Back from his surgery, Ma didn't win any singles over a year. Many people wondered if he was fully prepared for the Olympics. As there were no matches during COVID-19, it was difficult for players to concentrate on training. They also don't have enough chances to improve through the matches. But hard work finally paid off for Ma. With five gold medals, Ma has become the table tennis player who won the most medals in Olympic history. 

Yasuhiro Sato,the famous Japanese ski instructor, plays an important role in Su Yiming's sports career. Su Yiming  (know)Yasuhiro Sato since he was a child. But he was not able to become his student until the age of 14 when he was determined to become a professional  (ski).

Did you watch the Chengdu FISU World University Games (成都大运会) in 2023? Many student-athletes saw  sporing dreams come true at the Games. A  of young Chinese athletes did very well at the Games, including Xia Yuyu. 

Xia Yuyu is a 25-year-old student fom Tsinghua University. She has become a big winner at the FISU World University Games  Chengdu. She is the most tired and the  athlete at the Games. She took part in four competitions in six days. She won a gold medal in the  10,000 meters, a silver medal in the women's 5,000 meters and a bronze (铜) medal in the women's team half marathon (马拉松). Many people were  by her wonderful performance. 

Before the Games, she ran for 30 kilometers during training each day.  she knew how hard it was to win the gold medal at the Games, she  her mind not to give up. 

"I  want to thank my university, which helped me solve many problems during preparations for the Games in Chengdu. It's not been easy for my  who has had to attend to all the details of my training and daily life," Xia said. 

Success seems to find Maya Moore everywhere she goes. But life hasn't been a bed of roses for Maya and her biggest supporter, her mother. 

Maya discovered her love of basketball in 1997 at the age of 8. That was the year when the WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) began holding games. The young girl watched the WNBA star Cynthia Cooper-Dyke play in the Olympics.  

Three years later her mother, Kathryn, was offered a better job in North Carolina. Kathryn decided to make the move from Missouri because North Carolina provided greater basketball opportunities. Sadly, in two months the company downsized, and Kathryn lost her job. She remembers, "" Maya said the difficulties brought them closer, and she praises her mom. "She's more than a teammate. I know she's going to be on my side. "

"If your wings are gone，your heart can still fly. " said Zhang Haidi，a disabled writer. In the world，there are many disabled people，yet most of them don't give up. They have strong wishes and beautiful dreams. Just as Zhang Haidi said they could fly. Disability doesn't on complete failure. Once you try hard，miracles（奇迹）will happen sooner or later. I believe where a will，there is a way. 

A daughter complained to her father about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and want to give up. She was tired of fighting. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one came. 

Her father，a cook，took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots（罐子）with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the water boiled（沸腾）. In one he placed carrots，in the second he placed eggs，and in the last he placed coffee beans. He led them boil，without saying a word. 

The daughter impatiently waited，wondering what he was doing. In about twenty minutes he turned off the fire. He took the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then he poured the coffee in a glass. Turning to her he asked， "Darling，what do you see？"

At just 16 years of age, Liu Shasha has taken the pool world by storm. The newcomer has become the youngest world 9-ball champion(冠军)by defeating 40-year-old Karen Corr of Britain. 

On November 22, the Women's World 9-Ball Championship took place in Shenyang. In one semifinal, Corr beat Chinese Fu Xiaofang 9-8 to win her place in the final. In the other match, Liu managed to defeat China's biggest cue-wielding(挥球杆的)star Pan Xiaoting by the same 9-8 score for an appointment with Corr in the finals. 

Liu was born in the countryside of Lankao, Henan Province. Four years ago she chose to leave school after finding her Junior 1 studies difficult. "Maybe I can work on the ball game," she told her parents.

"The gold medal is for sure the best gift for my birthday. The gold and silver medals mean a lot to me. People can see how hard I've been working to achieve them," Su said in an interview in Beijing on Thursday. 

Su won China's first Olympic gold in the men's snowboard Big Air(单板滑雪大跳台) competition on Feb 15, after winning a slopestyle(单板滑雪自由式) competition on Feb 7. His excellent performance, including the gold-winning 1800 tricks, has made him a well-known name in China. He said that before he was 14 years old, snowboarding was just a sport for fun during vacations. But after he knew about the Beijing Winter Games, he realized this could be a life-changing opportunity. He was still part of the TV audience during the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, but he told his parents that one day he wanted to compete at the Olympic Games. 

"I told myself that I was going to try to reach the Olympic Games, and I would never give up trying to win medals. The reason why I'm doing all this training, and taking part in competitions and the Olympic Games is because of love. I started to practice snowboarding when I was 4 because my parents both love snowboarding," said Su. 

The first time when Su competed at a World Cup, the Shougang Big Air venue(体育场) hosted its first international event. Su, who was just 15 years old, failed for the finals. "I still remember three-and-a-half years ago at Shougang, the same place and the same jump, it was my first Big Air World Cup. That was a great contest for me as I had never taken part in a World Cup before," Su said. 

"I missed the final by just one spot at that time at 11th place. So from that time, I saw the difference between me and those top riders. That pushed me harder in the past three years. Now finally I got my best birthday gift. "

At the present time, more and more people love travelling. It's a very good 1 of getting to know new people and cultures and acquiring (获得) experiences. It helps travelers 2 a lot. Travel can make our minds become 3 .

My Dream Job

Everybody has his own dream job. My dream is to be 

Everybody has his or her dream job. I also have my dream job. My dream is to work for foreign tourists as a tour guide. 

Why do I want to be a tour guide? First of all, I'm an outgoing girl, and I like doing something exciting. Maybe being a tour guide is the best choice. If I become a tour guide, I can travel all around China and know more about our country. Then I will tell the foreign tourists about our colorful history. Second, I like making friends. And I am able to make lots of friends. If I work as a tour guide, I can make more friends from all over the world. This may be great. Perhaps someday my foreign friends will ask me to visit their countries. I really like to go to their countries to know something about their cultures. The trip will be excellent. What's more, I like singing. Singing English songs is my favorite. I believe I will be popular with foreign tourists. 

Now I am still a middle school student. My job now is to work hard in school. Then I'll go to university to learn something about how to be a tour guide. I'm sure I can be a qualified tour guide when I grow up.
