Each time a visitor walks into the Mogao Grottoes(莫高窟)in Dunhuang, Gansu province, they are greeted by the breathtaking beauty of the ancient murals(壁画). However, behind this great art work there is a difficult protection problem. Thanks to artificial intelligence (AI), heritage protection has entered a new era.

While AI provides powerful tools, it is important to use it in a responsible way. Conservators(文物修复师) must follow the rule of not changing too much. AI should not take the place of human skills but work with experts to help make decisions. Also, AI tools need to be based on solid research, so that the results are reliable and do not cause further harm to the heritage. 

The future of Dunhuang's heritage protection looks promising. With continuous improvement in AI technology, we can expect clearer and more practical protection methods. However, the key to success lies in combining technology with human care. Only in this way can Dunhuang's amazing art and history continue to shine for generations to come. 

The black-faced spoonbill is a precious migratory（迁徙的）bird. It stands for the ecological health of wetlands. It is a globally endangered species and also listed under China's first-class state protection. 

The bird was once nearly dying out. Its number dropped greatly because of wetland disappearance, water pollution and human disturbance. Lots of coastal places for them to find food and rest were damaged, leaving them short of food and living in terrible conditions. 

Shenzhen Bay is a key winter habitat（栖息地）for black-faced spoonbills. To save the rare bird, Shenzhen has made great efforts in wetland protection and regular environmental monitoring. Professional teams manage human activities during important seasons. A survey at the beginning of 2026 found that the world's total number of black-faced spoonbills has gone up to over 7, 

000. Quite a lot of them choose to spend winter in Shenzhen Bay because of its clean water. 

Protecting rare wild animals is our responsibility and also shows a city's ecological balance. Every little action we take for the environment matters a lot to the survival of rare birds and nature's balance. 

Two years ago, I moved to a new city with my husband. I used to run with friends to keep fit, but in the new city, I knew no one and had no one to run with. I wanted to meet people who also loved running, but it was hard to make new friends naturally, as my neighbors were always busy with their own lives.

A Warm Surprise for Daniel

Daniel was ill and stayed at home all day. He was very (happy) because he missed his friends and school. He sat by the window  looked at the garden outside from time to time. This brought him a little joy.

A fun and heartwarming activity at Tianjin University (天津大学) Library has become popular online. It is called"Life Questions, Quick Answers".

On a message board(留言板), university students write down their life problems on cards and pin (钉住) them on the board. Then, children give surprising and smart answers. The children also ask their own questions, and the university students answer them.
