Last week Rosie Bridge School had an English Week. Students at Rosie BridgeSchool worked hard (make) their English Week very successful.

There were a lot of (activity) like an English book fair in the library and a treasure hunt. Some students put on an English play. Other students took part in an English singing competition. A speaking competition (hold) as well. The students had to speak on a topic in English for two minutes.

 Even if there is no one around to speak to, talk to yourself. Name things as you pass them. This simple language learning skill will help you understand these everyday words.

Talk to your friends you know in English. They may understand you even if they don't speak it. Simple expressions like"Good morning!" in English will make those sentences more natural to you. Your friends may even start to learn a few sentences as well.

  You' ll hear the language used in a real situation and this will help you judge the pronunciation even better. You will also come to further understand and better enjoy the culture behind the language.

The easiest language learning skill is to try! Don't be afraid to make mistakes when you speak and write English. In fact, you will learn as much from your mistakes as you will learn from your success.

It's a good way to find an English club. It's helpful to speak with other people who are still going through the course of learning English.

Imagine learning English by designing a 3D-printed toy or a racing game. This is what happened at a"Tech-Integrated(融合) English Month" in Shenzhen. This interesting method works because it aligns with how our brains learn best.

Our brains are not simple recording machines. They learn and remember more effectively when several senses work together and when information is connected to emotions and actions. Traditional"chalk-and-talk" methods mainly focus on hearing and sight. However, tech-integrated activities, like using a 3D pen or performing a chemical"magic" show, add the sense of touch and physical interaction(互动). This multi-sensory(多感官) experience creates stronger, more powerful pathways in our brain, making the English vocabulary connected with these actions harder to forget.

Furthermore, this method makes full use of the power of"task-based learning".When the goal is to build a cool model or win a coding race, English becomes a necessary tool to understand instructions, pair with teammates, and explain ideas. The language serves a clear, immediate aim. This contextual use moves knowledge from short-term to long-term memory much more effectively than traditional memorization.

Some might worry that technology distracts(分散) from real learning. However,when used properly, tech is just a powerful tool. The key to this model is the"language-culture-thinking" integration. It's about creating interesting scenes where using English feels as natural and exciting as playing. By speaking the language of technology, students become more motivated to learn the language of the world.

For many students, English learning means textbooks, grammar exercises, and vocabulary lists. However, a new trend(趋势) is changing this: experiential learning,or"learning by doing". This method believes that students learn a language best when they use it in real situations, not just memorize it.

A great example is an English Arts Festival held at a Shenzhen school. Instead of regular classes, the campus was turned into a time-travel journey with different themed zones: Ancient & Medieval(中世纪的), Industrial & Modern, and Future AI.In the first zone, students discussed"knight spirit" using English cards. In the last zone, they built robot models while using words like"robot" and"future" naturally in their talk. Language became a tool for exploration, not a subject to be tested.

The magic of this method is that it lowers the"affective filter(情感过滤器)"-a mental barrier(心理障碍) like anxiety that stops language acquisition. When students are focused on a fun task, like collecting stamps in an"activity passport", they stop worrying about mistakes. They use English freely to play, create, and socialize. This natural, need-based usage helps knowledge last much better than forced repetition.

Of course, this doesn't mean throwing away textbooks. Traditional study builds the necessary base. But"learning by doing" provides the important context. It shows students that English is a living bridge to wider worlds-whether to the past, the future,or to friends beside them. By making learning meaningful and fun, it plants a seed of real interest that can grow for a lifetime.

Last month, our school held its annual English Week. There were singing competition, speech competition, writing competition and dubbing competition. My friends and I decided to join the last one. My team chose a clip (片段) from Ne Zha: Birth of the Demon Child. At first, I was very nervous. Speaking English in front of everyone and matching  the  character's fast, angry lines seemed impossible.

Our English teacher, Ms. Li, didn't just tell us to practice. She showed  us how. We watched  the original(原版 )  scene many times, paying attention to every sigh and shout.  We recorded our voices, listened back, and laughed at our mistakes. Slowly, my nervous"angry" voice started to sound more real. We even added our own sound effects to the performance. Practice wasn't boring anymore; it was like solving a fun puzzle with friends. And I was happy with it.

On the day of the final, the backstage was full of energy. Teams were practicing their lines from The Lion King and The Little Prince. When our turn came, the lights were bright. As the music played, I forgot the audience. I was the"real" Ne Zha,fighting against his fate(命运). Our team moved and spoke as one. The applause at the end was the best sound I'd ever heard.

We didn't win first prize, but I won something better: confidence. I learned that language isn't just words in a book. It's a living tool for expression. English Week gave us a stage not just to perform, but to truly connect with stories and with each other through the power of voice.

It was a busy weekend for English learning. I planned to practise Unit 1 skills and learn about Unit 2 festivals. On Saturday morning, I used the"Sound Lab" app to practice my 1 , but I couldn't get the"th" sound right. I felt upset and wanted to give up.

Just then, my cousin Lily called. She is good at English and has  2  won a national English competition. She asked me to join her at the 2026 Lantern Festival Tech Fair. I agreed 3 .

At the fair, we first went to a"3D Lantern Designing"area. The guide taught us to make a rabbit-shaped lantern frame and said some English sentences like"This lantern is lit up for good 4 ". I tried to repeat them, and Lily helped me  5  my pronunciation. It was much easier than practicing alone on the app!

Then we visited a"Festival English Show" area. A student was describing Lantern Festival customs in English. She used the"by+ doing" structure in unit 1, like"People celebrate it by watching dragon dances". I 6 took notes in my notebook.

In the afternoon, we joined a"Word Link" game. We needed to connect the words about festivals in unit 2 with pictures—— like"tangyuan" with a picture of round, sticky rice dumplings. I won a small prize: a"Write Right" app membership.

When I got home, I wrote an English diary about the fair. I used the"Write Right"app to 7 it, and it only found two mistakes. I felt 8 .

This weekend taught me that English learning doesn't have to be boring. By 9 it with festivals, I can learn in a fun way. Now I'm more confident in Unit 1and Unit 2, and I'm 10 the next English learning activity.
