Long long ago, there was an ancient emperor named Shennong. At that time, people could not tell the difference between medicinal (药用的) and poisonous (有毒的) plants. When they got sick, there was no medicine to treat their illnesses. Many sick people could only wait for death. 

To save his people, Shennong decided to find out which plants could be used as medicine. He and his followers set out on a journey in search of useful plants. Once, they saw a large forest on a high mountain from a distance. There must be many different kinds of plants, but they couldn't find a way to the top of the mountain. Suddenly, they saw some monkeys climbing along the vines (藤蔓) and trees hanging down. Shennong had a good idea. He asked his followers to cut down the tree trunks (树干) and vines to build wooden steps. With the help of them, they climbed up and collected many useful plants. 

Each time the team found a new type of plant, Shennong would taste it himself. Some plants made him sleepy. Some made his stomach hurt. Some made him shake all over. After a long time, he found hundreds of plants for medicine. 

Later, the team found a plant with small yellow flowers on a mountain. When a young man reached for it, the plant moved like a worm (虫). Shennong picked off one piece from the plant in order to taste it. Other people tried to stop him, but Shennong said quietly, "It looks like medicine. I have to test it, or some people may use it in a wrong way. "

Suddenly, Shennong's face turned pale and he fell on the ground. Blood came out of his mouth and nose. Even with other medicine, he was still not able to get better and soon died. From then on, they called him the"Emperor of Medicine. "

Walk through Futian District in Shenzhen, and you might notice some special fridges on the street. They are"food banks"that share free, fresh food with people in need. Since May 2022, these smart fridges have become a warm part of the community(社区), connecting care with creativity.

In just over two years, the project has shared nearly 500, 000 meals. That's about 195 tons(吨) of food saved from landfills, reducing 390 tons of harmful gases. What makes it special?
