Most children love movies because they are fun. But can movies be more than just fun?

The research team interviewed children between ages 4 and 15 after they watched InsideOut(《头脑特工队》). This story takes place mostly in the head of an 11-year-old girl, where her feelings Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust are personified as different characters.They help the girl after her family move house.

The team chose this film because it follows the hero's journey. On it, the hero goes on an adventure (冒险), fights off challenges and becomes stronger finally.  For example,the film encourages people, especially children, to be kind.

It helps improve their social skills. The children learn to understand how others feel in real life through learning about the characters' feelings.  Children enjoy seeing scenes of kindness, love, and bravery in the film. When Bing Bong sacrifices(牺牲) himself to helpJoy, children are moved deeply. Also, it encourages children never to give up. Joy' s perseverance (毅力) encourages them to keep trying in their own life. Moreover, children can learn important lessons about life from Inside Out.  When children follow Joy' s journey, they also come to realize that. Then Joy works with Sadness and the other feelings.Teamwork of all feelings is needed to live a full life.

Inside Out is such a great film to watch, as well as other films. Choose one, and you can turn screen time into a chance to have an amazing experience.

A highly expected video game based on an ancient Chinese classic came out worldwide on Tuesday, August 20th,2024. It has excited games around the world.

The game, Black Myth: Wukong, is an action role-playing game created by GameScience. It is inspired by Chinese mythology (神话) and the 16th-century novel Journey to the West, one of China's four great classic novels.  ▲   It allows players to experience a new world of Chinese imagination and historical scenery. IGN China, a top review website,gave the game its highest score—8 points.

What draws both Chinese and foreign players the most is the design of the game's scenes and characters. Black Myth: Wukong creates an amazing landscape with Chinese scenery, including famous mountains, old roads, pavilions among mountains and water,deserts and ancient temples, which most come from the places like Shanxi, Chongqing andXiangyang. They used these creations and historical relics(遗迹) in every part of the game.

The different monsters, gods, and Buddhas which appear in the game all come from The Classic of Mountains and Seas, a major source of Chinese mythology. Also, the game includes traditional Chinese instruments like the guzheng, bowls, wooden clappers and gongs.Much of the music is made by using Chinese-style musical structures.

While playing the game, players feel like they are fully lost in a mysterious eastern world.

In the summer of 2025, a Chinese animated film surprised everyone. Its name was The Little Monster of Langlang Mountain(《浪浪山小妖怪》). It didn't have famous superheroes or magical fights. Instead, it told a simple, warm story about a young, ordinary monster living in a small mountain. This film became a big hit and showed a brave new direction forChinese cartoons.

For a long time, many Chinese animations tried to look like Hollywood which often had powerful gods or historic heroes. But The Little Monster of Langlang Mountain was different because its main character isn't a hero. He is just a little monster doing a boring job in the mountain. He worries about his work, his family, and his small dreams. This made millions of young people see themselves in him.

The film's art style is also new. It doesn't use very shiny 3D effects. It uses a softer,watercolor-like style that makes you think of traditional Chinese paintings. The music mixes modern sounds with old Chinese instruments, connecting listeners to past memories and creating a feeling that is both fresh and nostalgic.

Why did this simple story win so many hearts? One movie critic(评论者) wrote,"Its power doesn't come from a big world, but from true feelings we all know." The little monster's story is about everyday life—— friendship, small victories, and gentle growth. In2025, when people's lives are fast and busy, this film offered a quiet moment of comfort and warmth.

The success of this film tells us that Chinese animation is growing up and finding its own voice. The best stories are sometimes not about changing the world, but about understanding the small, real world around us. And that is a truly exciting new beginning.

Cartoon films have very few limits(限制). If you can draw something, then you can make it 1 on the cinema screen. The use of new ideas and modern computer programs means that cartoons are becoming exciting again for people of 2 ages.

Every day at 9 am, Zhang Canjin, 58,(come) to the Drum TowerStreet in Ningbo and walks into a small house of less than 10 square meters. Sitting at his desk, the inheritor of copper coin knitting(铜钱编制) starts his day(joy).Since he started his own copper coin knitting store in 2014, he(try) very hard to think big. Zhang added,"As I keep making different works, I have more creative ideas in my mind," Zhang said.

To try something challenging, Zhang spent two months making an armor with more than8,000 coins. It got great public attention and even got  international patent(专利) for design.

This also gave (he) more confidence. Now, he tries his best (continue) getting more creative ideas and influencing more people.

"I think we Chinese people should pass on our own treasure and tradition," Zhang said.The house of Zhang stands there in the middle of the (crowd) DrumTower Street, and inside Zhang is knitting his love for heritage into a beautiful dream.

Last week, we embarked(开始) on a wonderful art exploration trip to the famous DafenOil Painting Village in Shenzhen.

 It displayed many works by artists, including amazing oil paintings and other forms of modern art, which perfectly set the tone for our visit.

Our guide then led us outside into the heart of the village.  The walls were covered with countless paintings, including classical reproductions(临摹品) like The StarryNight and original creations, making us feel surrounded by a sea of color.

After admiring so much art, we were eager to create our own.  Under the guidance of a local artist, we mixed colors and used different brushstrokes to capture the beauty of this local flower.

The artistic exploration didn't end there. The next stop was a pottery-making workshop. We made cups and bowls as handmade presents for friends. Getting our hands dirty with clay and trying to shape our own pieces provided a completely different, yet creative experience.

As our trip drew to a close, we had one more spot to visit. We took a memorable group photo there, which was a colorful and fun conclusion to our day filled with artistic inspiration.

Known as the birthplace of kites, Weifang in Shandong Province has a long history of making kites.

It's said that Weifang kite-making can date back to 2,000 years ago. At first, the kite was often used by the army for communication purpose. During the Ming Dynasty, kites started to be popular among common people for fun. The International Kite Festival was set up in1984 and is held every year in Weifang.

Yang Hongwei is an inheritor of the Weifang kite-making. Yang was born in a kite-making family in 1966. She often saw kites with bright colors and different shapes in her grandfather's workshop."Every time I see these beautiful kites, I no longer feel bored or unhappy," said Yang.

Yang began learning kite-making skills from her grandfather at the age of 16. After practicing for 10 years, she started her own shop in 1992.

"Many places around the world have a tradition of flying kites," Yang said."But I think the cultural background of our kites is unique." On Yang's kites, people can see not only common pictures like butterflies, but also some prints telling Chinese history.

In her spare time, she also travels to different countries including Germany, Australia,the US and New Zealand to tell people about Chinese stories seen on kites and the traditional ways of making kites.

"I'm an inheritor of the culture. It is also an important job for me to spread the culture around the world and pass it on." she said.

Chinese New Year paintings are colorful pictures hung during the Spring Festival.Their bright colors and lively subjects express people's wishes for happiness and good luck.

This folk art has a long history. It began as pictures of door gods in the Tang Dynasty to protect homes. Later, more themes like the Kitchen God and joyful children were added. It further developed and became widely popular through woodblock printing(木板年画) during the Song Dynasty in Kaifeng. Scientist Shen Kuo wrote that poet Wang Anshi once printed a poem using woodblocks to give to friends, showing the early use of this technology.

Today, this traditional art is being renewed in creative ways. Designers use AI to create new patterns that mix old and new styles. Popular products like refrigerator magnets and phone cases also carry New Year painting designs, bringing this art into modern daily life and attracting young people.

Making a woodblock New Year painting takes four main steps. First, draw a sketch on paper. Next, carve it onto wood and print samples. Then, color a sample as a guide. Finally,apply colors to carved boards, place paper, and brush to print. Through these steps, vibrantNew Year paintings are made, carrying blessings across time.

Recently, the dance drama The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting(《只此青绿》) has been a great 1 both in China and around the world. It draws inspiration from classic of Chinese art and brings it to life on stage. This artwork is the painting AThousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains(《千里江山图》) from the Song Dynasty.

Do you want to help save the sea turtles? Last week, our visit to Sea Turtle Bay in Huizhou taught us how to protect these ancient creatures. Learning about sea turtles is valuable lesson for everyone. The staff reminded us that it was a serious (punish) under Chinese law to harm them. Tourists ought to (follow) the rules strictly. We also learned to protect their home.

In the sea, the shark is one of the animals at the top of the food chain. It can swim faster than most other sea living things.

People are! We are not the biggest or fastest, but we are the cleverest. We could not run faster than cheetahs, so we invented cars and now we can move the fastest. We could not fight better than lions, so we invented guns. Now we invent many chemicals to gain food, but they can be dangerous, too. For example, people invented lactones(内酯类化合物), and now these chemicals make the air and rivers dirty.Dirty rivers kill fish.Then bears cannot eat the fish and die. If we kill one part of the food chain, other parts will also die. Remember that we are a part of the food chain, so we are in danger, too!We should and we could do something for the world!

Coral reefs are important to sea creatures. About a quarter of all ocean life depends on coral reefs at some point in their life. However, this year, high sea-surface temperatures have killed a large number of coral reefs around the world.

In Dapeng Bay, the development of coral reefs is not satisfactory. Compared with healthy reefs, the ones in Dapeng Bay show big differences. First, healthy reefs have small areas which are home to sea creatures, while unhealthy reefs are covered by sea plants. Second, they make different sounds. Healthy reefs with plenty of sea creatures produce many kinds of sounds,like a band playing music pieces in the ocean. However, broken reefs with fewer kinds of sea creatures are much quieter. They can cause whales to lose direction and even swim to the coast.

The recent whale strandings(搁浅) in Dapeng Bay are probably related to the health of coral reefs. Unfriendly environmental activities do harm to the reefs and break the food web,changing the whales' way of living. Water with high nutrient(营养) levels and city lighting have also made the whales swim closer to the coast.

High in the mountains of Yunnan, China, there is a special kind of monkey called theYunnan snub-nosed monkey. It is also known as the"snow mountain elf (精灵)". These monkeys are very unique, so we need to protect them.

    ▲     One of them is Yu Jianhua. Although he is 70 years old, he still walks in the mountains every day. Interestingly, when he was young, he used to be a hunter. But when he turned 45, he decided to stop hunting and began protecting the monkeys instead. Later, his son, Yu Zhonghua, joined him. The Yu family have been protecting the monkeys for more than 30 years.

At first, it was very difficult to find these shy monkeys. Yu Jianhua searched for them for a long time in the big forest. He walked many miles every day. After a few years, the monkeys finally began to trust him. He could watch them closely and learn about their daily lives—— what they ate, where they slept, and how they played. This information helped scientists protect the monkeys better.

Because of their hard work, more monkeys now live safely in the mountains. Sometimes,visitors can see them from far away. Although the Yu family can now watch the monkeys through cameras, they still like to go into the forest."Only by going there can we truly understand them," says Yu Zhonghua.

Now, there are about 4, 000 Yunnan snub-nosed monkeys in China—— many more than before. The story of the Yu family teaches us that with love and hard work, we can protect our wonderful animal friends.

Have you ever moved house before? How did you adjust to(适应) life in a new place?Recently, scientists 1 some Burrowing Owls(穴栖猫头鹰) settle(安置) into their new homes.

Burrowing Owls are small brown long-legged birds. They make homes in underground burrows(洞穴) and like to 2 in groups. In California, there is another kind of owls 3 the Western Burrowing Owl.

When it comes to learning English, many students in Shenzhen have turned to digital tools. In the past, most language apps focused on vocabulary games and grammar tests. But today, a new kind of app is becoming popular—— the AI language coach. These apps, like"SpeakUp" and"LingoBuddy", use artificial intelligence to provide real-time conversations.Unlike traditional apps, they can listen to your pronunciation, correct your mistakes, and even discuss topics you are interested in.

Students at a middle school in Shenzhen held a lively and colorful English Week in June this year. The main aim of the event was to 1 students' interest in English language and global culture through interactive(互动的) experiences.
