Huang Xuhua, a famous Chinese submarine (潜艇) designer, is known for his hard work, creativity and love for his country. His journey from a young boy in a small village to a top scientist in China is truly inspiring.

Huang Xuhua was born in a small village in Guangdong Province. When he was very young, China was going through many changes. Huang was always curious about the ocean and how things worked. He loved reading books and trying small experiments. Huang was especially good at math and physics. The two subjects helped him build a strong foundation for his future career. When he grew older, he wanted to learn medicine at first under the influence of his parents who were both doctors in his hometown. However, to save China, Huang got into one of China's best universities to study Naval Architecture. His university life was not easy, but Huang never gave up. He graduated with excellent grades in the end.

After graduation, Huang joined a research institute (机构) and focused on submarine design. There he faced many challenges, but he always kept strong-willed and put his shoulder to the wheel with other workmates. His efforts paid off in the end. China's first nuclear-powered submarine was independently developed and built without any help of other countries. This project was not only a big step in technology but also the key to guarding China's safety. Huang and his team worked day and night, even when things seemed impossible. His dream and love for our country kept him going on.

Huang's work has earned him many awards, including the State Preeminent Science and Technology Award, one of China's highest honors. Although Huang achieved success, he remains humble (谦虚的). He often tells young people to stay curious, work hard, and never give up.

Huang Xuhua's story shows us how dreams and resolutions can lead to great achievements. He really sets a good example for all young people.

Nowadays, many people drive to work now. So there are lots of cars in the streets and the traffic is very busy. Sometimes, it's not easy for you to get to work on time. When you are going to be late, you may dream of taking a plane there. Can your dream come true? Yes! You can take a plane only in months! 

Four people in Germany are interested in making planes and they are working on a new plane—Lilium Jet. It doesn't look like a plane but an egg. Many people think it looks funny and interesting. The fun "egg" can take two people to the sky and "run" about three hundred kilometers an hour. That's really great.

Then is it safe to drive the "flying car"? Of course yes! Some people have tested it many times. "It's really cool to see Lilium Jet fly to the sky. Everyone should have a try," says one of the makers. In the future, Lilium Jet will come into people's life and change our ways of going out.

On January 20, 2025, a Chinese tech company named DeepSeek made a new AI called DeepSeekR1. This smart program can solve math problems, write code, and answer questions like top models such as Open AI's GPT-40, but it costs much less to build. The team spent only $5.58 million (1/70 of Open AI's cost) and used 2,048 computer chips (芯片) for two months. This shows that good ideas can beat big money.

DeepSeek-R1 learns by trying many times and getting better, like how students practice maths. Other Als need lots of prepared examples, but R1 improves by itself. For example, in a global math test, it got 79.8% right, a litter higher than Open AI's model. A simple version of R1 can even run on low-cost computers, helping schools and small companies.

DeepSeek-R1 is free to use and change. On its first day online, over 19,000 programmers all over the world started projects to study it. A German scientist said experiments (实验) with RI cost $10 instead of $300 with other Als. Even Meta (a famous U. S. tech company) top scientist said, "This kind of free AI could change the world."

US tech companies are worried. Meta plans to spend $65 billion more on AI research. Experts say China is catching up fast. A report in Nature magazine called R1 a "big step forward", proving (证明) that smart ideas beat expensive tools.

As a DeepSeek engineer said, "We want AI to be a friend, not something only rich people can use." With R1, China shows the world that great things come from new ideas and hard work, not just money.

Can you imagine (想象) going to university at age 14? This year, Jia Zijun, from Henan, did that. He became the 1 freshman (大一新生) at Beihang University. 

"I didn't know that until I got here, and it 2 quite cool!" Jia told The Paper. Jia 3 the college entrance exam (高考) in June and got a total score of 642. People often think students like him must be smart. But Jia believes his success is from curiosity and good study methods.

"When I was in Grade 1, I was curious about what we were going to learn next. So I borrowed Grade 2 textbooks and learned the lessons during my summer holiday. I was 4 for new information," he said. Because of this, Jia skipped (跳过) Grade 2. 

As he went to high school, he found things were getting 5 to learn. So he started to make plans every day. Jia would also 6 what he learned each day before going to bed. If there was something he couldn't 7 well, he'd take a look at it the next morning.
