My name is Chen Lan. My hometown is in Gulangyu.  It is in Xiamen. It is near the sea. Gulangyu is a small place, but it is very nice and clean.

  People only walk, so it is very quiet. My house is in the center of Gulangyu.  My grandfather tells me the tree is very old. There are many birds in the tree. 

My house is near the sea. The sea is big and blue. There are many fish in the sea.  It is very interesting. I like eating and catching fish.

In the bright moonlight, Jack is walking home. Suddenly, he finds a hawk（鹰） lying beside a box. The hawk seems to be in pain. One of its wings is broken, so Jack takes off his T-shirt and wraps（包裹）it carefully around the hawk. Then he carries it home.

Jack's mum doesn't like animals in the house, so he decides to hide the hawk in the garden shed（棚子）. Looking at the hawk, he says, "It's your home now. Call you Falco,OK?"

In the early morning, he takes some food to Falco, but he finds Falco sitting quietly in a corner without eating anything. When Jack leaves the shed, his brother Jim is waiting for him outside. Jack has no choice but to tell him the secret.

Then the brothers decide to get help from their friend Holly because she knows a lot about animals. Holly advises them to feed some meat to Falco. Jack even digs up worms in the park for Falco. Over the next few days, Falco gets much better, but he still can't fly.

One morning, Falco is well enough to fly again. The two boys happily open the door. Falco beats his wings and makes a loud cry and flies away. Jack feels a bit sad, but he knows they are right.

One evening, Jack and Jim are sitting in their room. Suddenly, he hears a cry from far away. It's Falco! The bird is flying in circles across the sky. Jack watches it fly, happy and wild.

Among the old lanes（巷 子）of the Beijing hutongs, many were there hundreds of years ago during the Ming and Qing dynasties（朝 代）. They keep not only the traditional culture but also the way of life in the past. People can go shopping, eat delicious food, and watch the street life by visiting the Beijing hutongs. What's more, it is a good way to learn more about the daily life of people in Beijing.

A hutong is a lane formed by traditional courtyard compounds（筑有围墙的 建筑群） on both sides. The compounds are called siheyuan, meaning"four joined together courtyard".

The hutongs have interesting names. They are in these gray lanes. Kids talk and play there. One of China's most famous writers, Lao She, lived in siheyuan in the west of the city. He wrote his experiences into a book called Four Generations Under One Roof（《四世同堂》）。

Now, Beijing still has about 4,000 siheyuan for people to live in. However, most hutongs are in great danger because there are so many new buildings. So, we should try our best to protect hutongs, one symbol of traditional culture.

I go back to my hometown every summer. It is a small, peaceful village. There are green mountains around it and a clear river that runs by it. Every time I arrive there, I feel warm and comfortable.

My home is a traditional Chinese house with a yard. In the yard, there are some fruit trees, like apple trees and pear trees. I spent many happy childhood days playing under those trees with my friends.

In the village, everyone knows each other. When I walk through the streets, people greet me with smiles. Sometimes I go to my primary school. It brings back many wonderful memories.

One of my favourite things to do in my hometown is to visit the river. The water is so clean that you can see fish swim in it. I often go fishing with my dad. We sit by the river and enjoy the cool wind and the beautiful views.

At night, the sky is filled with stars. I sit in the yard, look up at the stars and listen to the crickets（蟋蟀）. It is so peaceful. I forget all the worries at work.

Now I live in a big city. But my hometown always holds a special place in my heart. It is where I grow up, where my family is and where I feel at home. I hope to go back often and keep the precious memories.

My hometown Xinjiang is a beautiful place. When talking about Xinjiang, maybe you will 1 mutton kebabs（烤羊肉串）or the story of Afanti（阿凡提）. 2 there are also lots of other things to do in Xinjiang.
