Learn more about your neighbours 

Do they have a new baby? If they do, they are surely trying to make the baby stop crying.  

You should try your best to know more about their problem before you talk to them. 

You can talk to your neighbours when they are not making noise or busy. Don't knock on their door if the problem happens in the middle of the night or if you are angry. Try to find a time when you and your neighbours are calm. 

For example, when you are both free at the weekend, see your neighbours with a plate of home-made cookies and talk friendly to them. 

Write them a note (便条) 

If you don't know your neighbours at all, talking to your neighbours face to face may not help with the problem. Then leave them a note on their door. 

Find others to help you 

If talking to your neighbours doesn't work, or if you don't want to talk to them, you may need to go to others for help.  Before you go to them, you need to know that your neighbours really make loud noise. 

It was a hot day. Mark and Timo were glad that they weren't lugging (用力拖) cans today. It was Wednesday yesterday, and it took hours to get all of the cans they had saved to the recycling (回收) centre.

"What goes on there?" Mark asked.

"Not enough money for food?" said the boys together. They looked at each other and agreed. "Can we come along, Mr Timmons?" asked Timo. "I think we just found out what to do with our recycling money." 

If you have a good neighbour, you are a lucky person. You have someone who cares about your needs and your property (财产). 

A good neighbour is someone who, for example, understands that your children may run across his garden, even though you tell them not to. He realizes that children can be careless about things like that, and he won't make a big fuss about it unless it becomes a regular thing. He doesn't make a big deal about it. A good neighbour is also respectful (尊重的) of your property. For example, he won't plant a huge tree between your houses without asking how you feel about it. If he wants to put up a fence, he will let you know first. He might work with you to decide where it should be placed. 

A good neighbour will lend you some milk if you don't have any. He will give you a ride to work if there is something wrong with your car, and let your children stay at his house in the evening if you are really busy with work. You will do the same for him. Both of you will help make the other's life easier.

MountTaishan: A Cultural and Natural Gem

Dongting Lake is famous as "800-li Dongting Lake". It is in the north of Hunan Province. It is about 2, 625 square kilometres in size. It is one of the five largest freshwater lakes in China. Every year, thousands of tourists from all over the world come to Yueyang in order to enjoy the beautiful sights around Dongting Lake. 

With the development of our society, protecting Dongting Lake has become a hot topic (话题). In fact, people of Yueyang are trying to improve the environment of the lake. On the one hand, they set up East Dongting Lake Nature Reserve in 1982. It provides a good place for birds and rare (珍稀的) animals. If you go there, you can see birds flying and milu deer (麋鹿) eating grass in East Dongting Lake Nature Reserve. On the other hand, factories mustn't put wastewater into the lake. Fishes are living in the clean water. At the same time, people plant colourful flowers and green trees along Dongting Lake. It is nice for people to go there when flowers come out and leaves turn green.
