Chinese dumplings are one of the traditional foods in China. They look like ancient Chinese gold ingots (锭), which mean"rich". Chinese dumplings were first invented (发明) by Zhang Zhongjing in the Han Dynasty. He first used them for medical purposes (目的). Zhang used dumplings with mutton (羊肉) for the patients' ear chilblain. 

As time went by, dumplings became popular in the north of China, and now making dumplings on New Year's Eve has become a Chinese tradition. On New Year's Eve, family members get together to make dumplings. They may put a coin (硬币) in one of the dumplings. If someone eats the coin, he or she will have the best luck in the coming new year. Chinese dumplings are also popular in other Chinese holidays or festivals. 

In the past, people couldn't often eat dumplings because they were very poor. But now Chinese people are richer and richer, so we can eat dumplings at any time. 

Almost everyone in China likes dumplings. There are many kinds of fillings in dumplings, such as dumplings with meat and vegetables, and some with sugar, eggs and seafood. I like dumplings with vegetables and pork better than any other kind, especially eating them with vinegar. 

Making dumplings is a teamwork. People usually make dumplings at home. If you have no time to make dumplings, you can buy them from any supermarket. But on Chinese lunar New Year's Eve, making dumplings with family members means happiness and reunions. And now many foreigners also like Chinese dumplings. They eat dumplings and even learn to make dumplings. 

I hope dumplings will be loved by people all over the world. 

Labor classes at school can help students be active, creative (有创造力的) and happy in life.At the same time, students can learn the meaning of labor. So from this September, students in middle school will have at least one labor class a week.

There are many interesting labor classes now. Students from a school in Chongqing have a class about catching fish in the river and learning about their habits. In Shanxi Province, students make tofu with beans. They also cook it by themselves.The labor classes make them feel happy when they cook delicious meals. Some students also keep small animals at home like chickens. This helps students learn how to care about living things and also make them more interested in biology.

Jack is a middle school student. He loves  (listen) to music. He used to wear his headphones (耳机) while riding his bike to school. His mother often warned him not to do that, but Jack  (simple) turned a deaf ear.

After spending some time on social media, how do you feel? Do you feel better or worse? Your feelings say a lot about how social media influences you. If social media makes you feel bad, pay attention to the messages you're looking through.

Choose good content (内容).

Social media shows you content based on what you've seen. If you always check the posts about happiness, kindness and  (信任), you will see more of them. Positive content can  (传播) joy, make your day brighter and keep your mind healthier.

Do something else online.

There are many other things you can do online. You can take an online class, learn a new language, or do  (任何事情) that interests you  (除了) checking social media.

 (减少) your screen time.

You can set a timer (定时器) on your phone to  (避免) too much screen time. When the timer rings, put down the phone right away. Also, add a hobby to take the place of the time you would have spent online.

Not long ago, when I had trouble sleeping, I  some cooking videos on my phone. That's how I got the idea to bake biscuits. The next day, I decided to buy a(n)  at a store. For me,  shopping has many benefits, and one of them is getting what I want quickly. It only took me a few minutes  and buy one. After making the digital , I happily took it home. Then, I chose one of the videos I had watched the night before, and followed the video instructions step by step to bake biscuits. Finally, I succeeded!

Rita was in a shopping mall, looking for a gift for her little daughter. Suddenly, she stopped before a store, there were all kinds of dolls (布娃娃) inside.

"Why not buy a lovely doll? Girls like dolls," she thought as she walked into the store. Looking around, she saw a grandma doll— one with green hair and a pair of glasses. As she looked at it, Linda, her mother, came into her mind.

It's easy to drop and break an egg. But how about dropping one without breaking it? Students around the world take on this fun science challenge! Not long ago a team from Conestoga High School in Pennsylvania, US broke a record for doing the highest egg drop for the second time!

In 2022, the team set the first record. Derrick Wood, their teacher, helped them with the project. Three students, Jeffrey Wang, Matthew Ma, and Charlie Gawthrop used some materials to make a special box for their egg. Then they dropped the egg from a height of 43 feet, 8 inches (about 13.3m). The egg didn't break!

In 2023, a student from India broke that record by dropping an egg from a place more than 10 feet (about 3m) higher. Mr. Wood and his students wanted to win back their title. This time, another student Breckin Shefflerwood joined them. They made a change to their design and tested it many times by dropping an egg from a drone (无人机). 

On August 18, 2024, the team dropped an egg from a lift (电梯) which was 83 feet (about 25.3m) high. It still didn't break! They were super happy. Guinness World Records proved (认证) the drop on September 25. The team was back on top!

Mr. Wood and his students hoped to inspire (激励) others to learn science! "It was exciting!" Breckin shared. "Science can teach us a lot."

In the 19th Asian Games, lots of players did their best to make their dreams come true. Quan Hongchan is one of them. She isexcellent diver from Zhanjiang, Guangdong

Province.

Born in 2007, Quan started diving in 2014. Her mother was in poor health after a car accident.
