Imagine you' re on a small island in the UK. You share the island with a few other people, and over 43,000 puffins. Your job? Count those puffins.

The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales (WTSWW) is looking for volunteers to work on Skomer Island, an island off the coast of Wales that's just under 3 square kilometres in size. The island is home to many different kinds of birds.

Around the world, puffins are at the risk of extinction (灭绝). However, it's not all bad news.Every year, the WTSWW counts the number of the birds on the island. And in 2025,43,626 puffins were seen.

This year, the WTSWW is looking for volunteers to help with this job. The volunteers will work for about three months at a time between March and September. The main job is counting puffins. But the volunteers may also help count other birds. They will also help with daily management of the island and greet the 25,000 visitors who come each year.

Although they won't be paid, the volunteers may be given between $ 275 and $ 550 to help with their stay on the island, and they will be able to live there for free. They will also have free travel to and from the island, as long as they' re coming from or going to a place in the UK.

The Hukou Waterfall is a famous natural wonder. It lies between Shanxi Province and ShaanxiProvince. It is the largest yellowish waterfall in the world and the second largest waterfall in China.

Its name, "Hukou", perfectly describes how the wide river suddenly narrows (变窄) and then rushes down. Because of its special location (位置), the area around Hukou has long been an important place for trade and communication among different parts of our country.

The Hukou Waterfall has long played an important role in the history of the Yellow River. The YellowRiver is also called China' s"Mother River". It gives people nearby what they need: water for life, land for crops(农作物), and a waterway for boats. The waterfall was created by the crustal movement (地壳运动)and the river's force over a very long time.

The view of the Hukou Waterfall varies with the seasons, so you can enjoy its different views from spring to winter. You can see the waterfall from both the Shaanxi side and the Shanxi side. If you want to take the best photos, go to the Shaanxi side in the afternoon. At that time, the sunlight makes the waterfall look even more beautiful.

 People may speak more or less loudly, show more or fewer feelings, or use more or less small talk. Be prepared to notice these differences, including ones you did not expect.

If you don't understand someone or think they don't understand you, say something politely and honestly.  It's better to solve the problem.  You can say,"I'm not sure I understood.  Could we go over that again?" or"Let's say it again to make sure we all understand."

●Be patient.

Communicating across cultures can be meaningful but difficult.  Be patient with others, and ask them to be patient with you.

Everyone needs hobbies. A hobby is something that people like to do in their free time. It brings people 1 and makes their life colourful.

Last year，I had a great summer holiday.As a teenage girl，I was so excited to travel abroad for the first time.My family and I got onto a plane and flew to Vancouver.

It was our first visit to Canada.We got up very early almost every day.We did lots of fun and interesting things.On our first day，we visited the Stanley Park and the Vancouver Art Gallery.Later in the first week，we visited some museums and then got on a special boat to watch whales（鲸）.What an unforgettable week!I really enjoyed myself.I also took lots of photos.But we didn't swim in the sea because the water was too cold.Of course，we also visited my uncle.He lives in Vancouver.One evening，we had a party at his house.Finally，we stayed there for two weeks.Before we left Vancouver，we went shopping and bought lots of souvenirs（纪念品） for our friends.

Maybe we can travel again during my next summer holiday.Then I would like to visit Japan or Brazil.
