Music is very important in our lives. 

Hello, I'm David Smith. Now I'd like to share with you the story of how music has had a strong influence on my life. 

Have you ever faced a time when things looked dark and you had no hope at all? Two years ago, my body ached all the time. So I went to the doctor. I was told I had a serious illness which was difficult to cure (治愈). And I thought I didn't have much longer to live. I was very afraid and I felt so lonely and discouraged. 

Then one day, I had to go through a two-hour medical treatment. The doctor wanted me to relax, so she played some music for me, and one of the songs was Happy, which has been my favorite song till now. This positive (积极的) and uplifting song gave me energy and helped me go through the darkness. From then on, I began to listen to music all the time. John A. Logan once said, "Music is the medicine of the mind." And it's true. Music worked wonders for me. It helped me get well and come back to life. 

Of course, I hope none of you have to experience the same kind of suffering (痛苦) that I did. However, we all go through some periods when we feel sad or lonely. During those times, music can help you in the same way that it helped me. I hope all of you will value music and make it a part of your lives.

Can you think of a day without music? We can  music everywhere, in the streets and at home, over the radio and on TV, in the shops and in the parks. People all over the world love music. They listen to music, dance to music, and learn to play musical .

My favorite style of music is pop music because it is full of energy. When I listen to pop music, it makes me remember happy times and  my sadness. It helps me to relax when I'm tired, and entertains (娱乐) me when I'd like to have fun. I don't mind listening to dance music, especially when I go to disco clubs. This style makes me more energetic (精力充沛的).

My mother and father support my tastes in music. They to listen to classical and ballet music, but they think that, on the whole, modern music is not too bad. My parents agree that each person has his or her own taste.

If someone asks me, "Do you like music?" I'm sure I'll answer him or her, "Of course I do." Because I think music is an important part of our life.

Different people have different ideas about music. For me, I like rock music because it's so exciting. And my favorite rock band, the "Foxy Ladies" is one of the most famous rock bands in the world. I also like pop music. My classmate Li Lan loves dancing music because she enjoys dancing. My best friend Jane likes jazz music. She thinks jazz is really cool.

But my mother thinks rock is boring. "I like some relaxing music," she says. That's why she likes country music, I think.
