Reading a good history book is like opening a door to the past. It can not only let us learn from great people in history, but also help us understand the wisdom of life. Among all the history books, you can't a history book called Historical Records, or Shiji (《史记》).

Sima Qian, an official (官员) during the Western Han Dynasty(202 BC—AD 9) wrote it. He completed this great work under very difficult conditions, which showed his strong will. The work records the events beginning the well-known Yellow Emperor and ending with the first years of the Han Wudi period, covering around 3,000 years.

In this book, I like how the writer describes different people. For example, there's Da Yu, the founder of the Xia Dynasty. He tried so hard to a big flood that he refused to enter his home while passing by three times. I hope to be a great like Da Yu. There are also two well-known , Chen Sheng and Wu Guang. They a group of people against the Qin Dynasty. Their story shows that every person, whatever their birth, can become someone great he tries his best.

When I read this book, I could see how Sima Qian made the characters come alive with words. This makes the book of strong feelings of love and hate, and I always find these stories very inspiring. The book is more than a historical record. It is a treasure that makes me think and grow.

The Han Dynasty (202 BC—220 AD) is an important period for the development of the ink brush, and it is also the time when Cai Lun improved the paper-making method. People began to widely use ink brushes at that time. Meanwhile, the first book on how to produce ink brushes came out.

In the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, many ink brush experts got together in Huzhou of Zhejiang Province and the brush-producing industry developed rapidly. Huzhou has been the center of brush making since the Qing Dynasty. Ink brushes produced there, called Hubi, are the best known.

The ink brush is made up of the stalk and the nib. The stalk is usually made of bamboo, wood or other valuable materials. The nib is made of fine, soft animal hair. For example, the animal hair includes three main kinds: rabbit's hair, wool and weasel's hair (黄鼠狼毛). People often call these nibs tuhao, yanghao, and langhao in Chinese.

The ink brush is made in three sizes: big, medium or small. Most works of calligraphy (书法) are written with a medium-sized brush. Usually, painters and calligraphers have several kinds of brushes on hand to meet personal purposes and preferences (喜好).

We always think the first impression (印象) is of great importance in life. However, is the first impression really worth being trusted? In my opinion, that is probably not the f.

A first impression is the first judgement (判断) we make about a person. The forming of first impressions may depend on direct feelings, b there is not enough information about one person. In some way, it is also influenced by our personal experiences or our emotions (情绪). So I t the first impression is inaccurate (不准确的).

While a good first impression is connected with whether we will be allowed to enter a school or a company, short information a a person may make the first impression important. What's more, the first impressions of some candidates (候选人) are not good, but they turn out to perform (表现) w after they enter a school or a company. So I do believe some opinions about first impressions should be changed.

My middle school math teacher was in his early twenties when he began to t us. At first, I thought the experienced elder math teacher in the neighbouring class must be more excellent than him. However, the y teacher was hardworking and spent long hours preparing lessons every day. It wasn't l before we saw him as an excellent teacher. With his encouragement, I also became confident in math and made progress. I was sorry for my wrong first impression of him.

From this story, I have r that emotions and stereotypes (刻板印象) can both influence our judgement of people. The first impression should never be the only s of judgement about a person.

●Get no less than 8 hours of sleep—don't stay up late at night and go to bed at a regular time. Early to bed and early to rise, you can reduce your revision time in the evening by one hour and increase it into the morning. Take a nap (打盹) at noon. Having enough sleep is the important thing to improve study efficiency (效率).

●Studying is your business and business comes before entertainment (娱乐). Pay your attention when you study, phone calls should go unanswered, TV shows should go unwatched, and computer games are not allowed, either. When you study, you must put your heart and mind into it. Studying is the only and important thing in your mind.

●Keep on physical exercise— the body is "the capital" of learning. Without a good body, students can't study well. Therefore, you can't ignore (忽视) doing exercise though you may have too much homework to do. Some students don't do exercise in order to save time to study, their body is weaker and weaker, they will feel powerless to study. How can they improve their learning efficiency?
