Tanghulu is a Chinese snack, which has been popular on TikTok recently, with many people sharing videos of making it at home. We'll talk about something about tanghulu.
What is tanghulu made of?
Tanghulu is traditionally made of dried hawthorn berries (山楂), which look like small red apples. Street businessmen coat the hawthorn berries with sugar syrup (糖浆). Served on a stick, it becomes a popular hit in Chinese street markets. Couples on a date, children or teenagers looking for a treat will enjoy this fruit snack. And other fruits like grapes, blueberries, apples, and even pineapples can be used to make tanghulu as well.
Although tanghulu is made of fruits, it is certainly not the healthiest snack. For example, if you eat 20 candied fruits, you will get about 400 calories, equivalent (等同的) to a cheeseburger. Though the fruits can provide Vitamin C, the sugar coating can lead to tooth decay (蛀牙) if you eat it too often.
How has tanghulu developed?
As a traditional Chinese snack, tanghulu has a long history dating back to the Song Dynasty. One of them says that a woman was too ill to eat anything until a doctor suggested dried fruit with sugar. Whatever the truth is, tanghulu becomes very popular. You can see it in theatres, streets, and teahouses.
A. Is tanghulu healthy?
B. Many stories talk about how it started.
C. What is the reason for eating tanghulu?
D. This is what makes it bright and smooth.
E. Strawberry tanghulu is another popular choice among people.

17、A few months ago, a woman shared a video of her seven-year-old daughter cooking for her family online. The little girl can cook different dishes and also create new dishes with snacks. All her family love her dishes.
In fact, the girl is not an exception. In the past few years, we have seen that more and more kids are learning to cook. Then, should kids learn to cook?
The answer is clearly yes. Learning to cook is really good for kids. First, kids can learn more about nutrients (营养物) and healthy eating when they learn to cook. Then, they'll take this confidence with them to school and dare (敢于) to try new things. Third, learning to cook is a great way for kids to build good relationships (关系) with their family and friends. When cooking together, they can share stories about their favourite dishes and how they learn to cook. As well as stopping everyone from becoming bored, cooking helps people become closer.

Before you start writing, you must know exactly how much time you have to finish the writing. So make sure that you have a watch or can see a clock in the exam.
Then, how much time should you spend on each part of a writing exam? Here's my plan. If I have forty minutes to finish a writing exam, I will divide (分配) it this way:

●Writing—fifteen minutes. With a clear plan in mind, I can write smoothly (顺利地). I'll use proper words and sentences to express my ideas, and try to make my writing lively and attractive.
●Checking—five minutes. In this period, I'll check for spelling and grammar mistakes, and make sure my sentences flow (流畅) well.

Do you think you can have only one job in your lifetime? This is not true, but lots of people think so. For example, when people decide what to learn in college, they think the decisions they make now will decide their future jobs. However, there are many examples in which people achieved their dreams after changing their jobs later in life.
Ronald Reagan was an actor when he was young. Later, he decided to do political (政治的) work. The love for it made him become President of the United States.
The famous artist in the 19th century, Vincent Van Gogh, was not a painter at the beginning. He once was a preacher (牧师). It was only 10 years before he died that he decided to become an artist.
J. K. Rowling, the writer of Harry Potter, was a school teacher before she began writing books. Actually, she was out of her job before the first book Harry Potter came out. Now we know jobs can be changeable. The important thing is to find what you are really good at or what you really want to do. Once you find what you love, try your best to do it.
