Wild birds need our help. Nearly 30% of the bird population in North America has disappeared (消失) over the past 50 years. By making a few simple changes, you can help turn your neighborhood into a safe habitat (栖息地) for birds. Here's how to get started.

③None of this stops plants and animals from making Death Valley their home. People have found more than 1,000 types of plants there. It also has 51 types of mammals (哺乳动物), 36 kinds of reptiles (爬行动物), 6 types of fish, and more than 300 kinds of birds. The animals aren't all small, either. There are big ones like bighorn sheep, mountain lions, and mule deer.

④Water is the biggest challenge for anything that lives in Death Valley. Some plants have roots that go fifty feet under the ground to find water. Kangaroo rats get the waterthey need from the seeds (种子) of desert sunflowers. Tiny pupfish can live in water that is 32℃ and five times as salty as the ocean!

①Lucky you—if you're looking for a four-leaf clover, you might be able to find one in any clover patch (一块地) you come across! However, finding this sprout (嫩枝) will actually take some time.

②Clover plants grow in most temperate (温和的) areas around the world. They appear in places like fields, forests, and lawns. These plants usually have three leaflets. Only about 1 in every 5,000 clover leaves has four leaflets.

③______?A lot of it has to do with genes (基因). In humans, genes control eye color, height, foot size, and much more. In clovers, genes decide things like the number of leaflets that a plant has. And a clover must have a special set of genes to grow four leaflets. The environment also affects how many leaflets a clover has. For example, four-leaf clovers grow better in warm temperatures than in cold ones. So, four-leaf clovers need just the right genes and environment in order to grow. This makes them difficult to see.

④Looking through a clover land one by one to find a four-leaf clover might get a little tiring. Instead, when you come across some clovers, scan them with your eyes. Three-leaf clovers look liketriangles, and four-leaf clovers look like squares. As you glance (一瞥) over the patch, look for square shapes in the sea of triangles.

⑤With time, patience and a little good luck, you have a good chance of finding your four-leaf clover!

①Zhao Wenying, a 65-year-old woman from Lishui, Zhejiang Province, recently became the world's oldest person to pass the professional (专业的) Rubik's Cube B-level exam. She also holds the world record for a person over the age of 60 to solve the Rubik's Cube blindfolded (被蒙住眼睛). She successfully completed a 3×3 Rubik's Cube in 3 minutes and 33 seconds in 2019, the fastest time in the world.

②Before retirement (退休), Zhao was a math teacher. After she stopped working, she began to solve the Rubik's Cube as a hobby. "I began to learn the Rubik's Cube in 2014. I remember the day when my granddaughter brought home a Rubik's Cube and Ifell for it at once," Zhao said.

③As a green hand, Zhao learned a little slowly at first. Yet she decided to get good at it. She found some online courses (课程) and spent more than four years learning to solve the Rubik's Cube by herself. Later, she learned how to do it blindfolded. "When I first learned to solve it blindfolded, I was curious about how other people did it. I just thought if they could do it, I could too," Zhao said. Then she found a professional to teach her. Though it is difficult for people in their 60s to learn to solve the Rubik's Cube blindfolded, Zhao did her best to learn the skills. During her learning process, she used up four notebooks in all.

A great way to help you remember something is to imagine a picture of it in your mind. If you make the picture big, strange or silly, you will remember it better. For example, to remember the word "smiles", we can imagine there is a "mile" between the first letter and the last letter. This makes it the longest word in the world. Remember: a picture is worth a thousand words.

A good method for remembering the spelling of a word is to make a short sentence (句子) with each letter of the word. For example, if you want to remember how to spell the word "because", you can use the sentence "Big elephants can always understand small elephants".

You will forget something very quickly unless you understand it well. For example, you may have trouble remembering the list of steps in the water cycle (循环). However, it is easier to remember these steps if you understand how the water cycle works.

When it comes to doing chores, I'm not always in the greatest mood.

"OK, you two," I said, "it's time to do our hamster-cage chore."

"1!" said Indi, my little sister. "I just remembered we have to make a2 for Lily's birthday party."

"Her party is not until Saturday. We'll have lots of time to make the card later." I said. "For now, the hamster, Mr. Nibble, needs to live in a3 place.

Once upon a time, a selfish and unkind prince lived in a castle (城堡). One cold winter night, the prince refused to help an old and poor lady. Then the lady became a witch (女巫) and turned the prince a beast.

Not far from the castle lived Beauty. She was a bright, brave and girl. One night, Beauty's father got lost and went into the castle by accident. The Beast was angry and made the to put the old man in prison. And the Beast didn't set him free Beauty offered to take her father's place.

However, the Beast was kind to Beauty and in love with her. So did Beauty. Their true love helped the Beast turn back to prince again. And they lived happily ever after.

Are you troubled by housework, such as folding your clothes or taking out the (垃圾)? A new robot is here to help! Recently, scientists at Stanford University in the US (发明) a robot called Mobile Aloha, and it became popular online.

In the videos posted, we can see the robot preparing dishes by (它自己), from washing the carrots to cutting potatoes with a (刀). It's also good at watering plants, (扫) the floor and washing clothes.

Sounds good? Well, (另一个) video posted by researchers may disappoint some people. Mobile Aloha has some difficulty doing some other housework. It can't finish all the tasks on its own.
