"We hope that China's animation industry（动画产业）can be as good as 40years ago. " But why do they like these works from the 1980s? Are the young still interested in these old stories?  The 4K restoration （修复）of the Chinese animated film The Legend of Sealed Book arrived in theaters. It's a beautiful memory of many people. The Shanghai Animation Film Studio produced（制作）the classic film. Many classic animations like The Monkey King are also its works.  They used traditional skills such as paper-cutting and ink wash painting. They borrowed ideas from Chinese New Year paintings and Beijing opera.  The combination（结合）of these things makes these films different from the popular Disney-style stories. 

Since these old films are still popular among many young people today, why don't we just follow the traditions? In fact, The Legend of Sealed Book is a product of its time. We see it as a classic because of the way it shows traditional Chinese culture. 

With more and more animators entering, China's animation industry is sure to be better than before. 

Most young people know stories like Cinderella, Snow White, or Little Riding Hood. But why do both kids and grown-ups love them so much?

What Kids Think of Fantasy Stories

Michael says, "The magic is my favorite part about reading fantasy stories. " Bad witches（巫婆）, good fairies, and characters can change into different things and make kids imagine all kinds of wonderful things. They feel like everything is possible（可能的）! Zoe enjoys the exciting adventures in these stories. "Reading fantasy stories helps me leave the real world behind, " she says. Isabella, an 8-year old girl, agrees. "When I read them, I can visit amazing places I can't go to in real life. "

What Teachers Think of Fantasy Stories

Teachers also like sharing fantasy stories with kids to help them improve （提 高） their reading and writing skills. Kristen, a second-grade teacher, uses these stories to teach students about different ideas. "We read The Three Little Pigs and then another story from the Big Bad Wolf. The students thought it was really cool!" Jenni, a fifth-grade teacher, starts creative writing lessons with fantasy stories. "Books like The True Story of the Three Little Pigs show students new ways to write. They learn it's okay to change a famous story, and this makes them more creative. "

Favorite Fantasy Stories and Disney

When kids are asked about their favorite fantasy stories, they give many different answers. Some like old stories, some enjoy modern changes, and others love Disney's versions（版 本）. Kyra, 12, likes old fantasy stories because they help her think about real-life problems and give her hope. Jack, also 12, enjoys books where the stories twist（转折）, and bad people turn out to be good. 

Many kids first know these stories from Disney books and films. But not everyone likes Disney's way of telling them. Nicole says, "Disney stories are too cheesy（俗 套 的）and always end the same way. I like modern fantasy stories better because they' re more interesting and complex（复杂）。"

When Dorothy woke up, she found herself lying under her bed in a strange place. The house was on the ground. It was in a field full of flowers, and there were hundreds of beautifully colored birds flying abo ut and singing. Not far away, there was a river with clear, fresh water. 

Dorothy was still under her bed. She got up and left the house. She was surprised to see three little men and a little woman walking toward her. They were very strangely dressed. The men's clothes were blue as their hats, but the woman's clothes were white and had little stars all over them. 

When they saw Dorothy, they walked up to her and bowed（鞠躬）。

"Welcome to the land of the Munchkins, " one of the little men said. "We thank you for killing t he Witch of the East（东方女巫）. Now our people are free. "

"Your house did, " one of the little men said. "Look!"

He pointed to the house. Dorothy saw two feet sticking out from under it.

Everyone climbed into the pink boat. The boat moved gently on the chocolate river. The air smelled sweet and made everyone hungry. 

Mr. Wonka turned to Mike. "No licking the boat!" he said. "It may be tasty, but don't do it. " Mike laughed. Veruca shouted, "I want a boat like this! And I want the Oompa-Loompas to row me around whenever I want to go!"

Grandpa Joe leaned toward Charlie. "She needs a little lesson!" he said. Charlie laughed. He look ed around with wide eyes. Everything was new and exciting. 

Mr. Wonka gave Charlie and Grandpa Joe a piece of chocolate. Charlie looked at it carefully, and then put it into his mouth. He smiled with great joy. "This is the best chocolate I've ever had!" he said. Grandpa Joe smiled and nodded. "So smooth and sweet!" Mr. Wonka said. "It's made with a waterfall!T hat makes it special. "

Then, the boat went into a dark tunnel. "Faster!" Mr. Wonka said. The Oompa-Loompas rowed quickly. Everyone shouted as the boat moved faster. Lights turned on. They were inside a big white pipe（管 道）。

"Onward!" Mr. Wonka shouted. "Let' s find the next surprise!"
