Cats and dogs are often shown as enemies in TV shows or films but they can get on well in real life. New research suggests that the way they are introduced shapes how friendly they will be.

A study by the Dogs Trust Charity says that dogs are calmer and friendlier if they are introduced to cats gradually, over more than one day. It has been found that around one fifth (

20.1%) of pet owners introduce their new dog to their cats at once, while about 

18.9% do so in less than two hours.And then they find it hard to make the dog and cat become good friends.

"Most dogs show'unwelcome' behaviour when first introduced to a cat. For example, a dog would want to play when the cat isn't interested." said Dr Rachel Casey, from the Dogs Trust. "So you'd better take your time when introducing them. Wait until they are both well-prepared."

The study also discovered that a dog's age can influence their behiaviour towards cats. If. the dogs are younger than 12 weeks of age, they are more likely to be calm and relaxed; The study suggests that when dogs are introduced to cats over more than one day——particularly those younger than 12weeks, it is probable that they will build up a more peaceful and long-lasting relationship.

Another finding of the study is that dogs and cats should meet in a calm environment. Dr Rachel Casey suggests, "They should meet where everybody is sitting down and its really quiet. It would be better if cats have a way to run away, such as somewhere high up, in case they feel uneasy with the dog. And never set up the meeting at or near their own territories（地盘）。"

Braille is a way of writing for blind people. It uses letters and numbers with groups of dots （圆点）, which are made into holes in paper. Then the blind can"read" those dots with their fingers. The invention of Braille changed the lives of blind people around the world. But learning to read and write Braille can be hard. It needs lots of practice, which can become really boring.

Lego's Braille bricks serve as a simple and fun way for children to learn Braille. Unlike the normal Lego bricks, the small dots on the bricks are put as Braille letters. Blind children can"read"the dots to learn Braille when playing with the bricks. Lego's Braille Bricks also have printed letters on them that match the Braille letters, so sighted（有视力的）children and blind children can play with the Lego bricks together.

What's more, Lego's Braille bricks are convenient to usc. Traditional Braille is often written with a special machine. It's hard to fix when children make a wrong letter, because the letter is"written" by hitting holes into the paper. Lego, on the other hand, can be moved around easily. If a student makes a mistake, correcting it is as simple as moving or changing a brick. That's important when children are learning to spell words.

So far, Lego's Braille bricks have been tried in four countries. Next, the Lcgo company plans to test them in more countries. The company wants to learn more about how children use the bricks and how the bricks could be improved.

Fabrice Mba is a 46-year-old Kungfu master. He teaches Kungfu and traditional Chinese medicine in several schools in Cameroon,a country in Africa.

As a child, he grew up with his brother, who worked at the cinema then. He helped him sweep the cinema. He recalled（回忆）when he saw Shaolin Kungfu movies for the first time, "I discovered Kungfu and Chinese culture. They are fascinating to me." He and his friends always followed the moves in the movies, but there was no Kungfu club to train them.

Huang Xuhua: The Father of China's Nuclear Submarines (核潜艇)

Huang Xuhua, a great Chinese scientist, left us on February 6th, 2025. But his great deeds and strong spirit will always stay in our hearts and keep lighting up China's way forward. 

Huang Xuhua was born in Guangdong Province in 1926. When he was young, he saw the hard times of his country under foreign attacks (侵略). These sad memories made him study hard. He made a promise to make the country strong with his knowledge. 

In the 1950s, when China started to develop nuclear submarines, it was a very difficult job. Huang Xuhua was not afraid and stood up bravely. At that time, there was not much high technology or many resources (资源). Huang and his team faced many difficulties. To keep the project secret, they cut off communication with the outside world for years. 

During the design, they had lots of problems. Designing a nuclear reactor (核反应堆) was very hard. They couldn't get help from foreign experts, so they used simple tools like abacuses (算盘) to do the calculations (计算). Another problem was to make the submarine stable (稳定的) underwater. After many tries, they finally solved these problems. 

Finally, in 1970, China's first nuclear submarine was built and tested successfully. This made China one of the few countries that had this ability. Huang Xuhua didn't stop after this big success. He continued to work on submarine technology and received many honors. 

Now, when we think of him, we know that his life is a great inspiration to us. We especially the young people, should learn from his spirit. Let's take on the responsibility, face challenges bravely, and work hard to make China stronger. In this way, his spirit will live on forever. 

Chinese writing has a history of six or seven thousand years. Calligraphy (书法), the art of writing, is almost as old as writing itself. 

In ancient times, written Chinese was the first symbols and pictures.  Later, characters and even full sentences were written on animal bones or shells for communication. 

With time passing by, a number of written forms appeared. Each had its own local style. In the 3rd century BC, the first emperor, Qinshihuang, set the same standard for the written characters—"small seal script".  That writing system was very important in uniting (联合) the Chinese people and culture. At the same time, as people needed to write faster in daily life and work, Cheng Miao developed another style called "clerical" script.  By Han times, calligraphers had created a new style known as "regular" script. From the Tang Dynasty, it became the standard form used in government exams. 

 What we needed were the Four Treasures of the study: a brush, ink (墨) stick, ink stone and paper. Students of calligraphy practiced the main types of script and improved their skills by copying the works of past masters. With the increase of their knowledge and practice, they slowly developed their own styles. 

The art of calligraphy reached a high point in the 4th century. At that time there were many famous calligraphers.  Calligraphy remains a living art form to this day. It has become part of the school courses to pass on the Chinese culture. 

These days, DeepSeek has received a lot of attention on the Internet. So what is DeepSeek? It's a Chinese AI company (人工智能公司) set up by a man called Liang Wenfeng on July 17, 2023. The members of his team have studied in the top universities in China and have no overseas (海外的) educational experience, and most of them are under 34 years old. They are also very good at math, physics and coding (编码). The company works on AI, especially big models. You can think of it like building a super smart brain that can think and solve problems like humans. 

On January 20 2025, DeepSeek made a new AI called DeepSeek-R1. This smart program can solve math problems, write code, answer questions and even understand language like top models such as Open AI's ChatGPT-4. This made the whole world completely surprised because it cost much less to build. It only took the team 85. 58 million (1/70 of Open AI's cost) and 2, 048 computer chips (芯片), and two months to create it. 

This shows that good ideas can be a big help. On its first day online, over 19, 000 programmers around the world started projects to study it. Even Meta's (a famous U. S. tech company) top scientist said, "This kind of free AI could change the world. "

DeepSeek shows that China can make great progress in technology. Its open and cheap way of working may encourage the young to learn about AI. In the future, more students and people who make new things might use DeepSeek's ideas to create new and exciting technology.
