①When I was a kid, there were no supermarkets. People went to wet markets to buy fruits,vegetables, and seafood. They picked what they wanted from different shelves, paid for it, and carried it home in a basket. These markets were often dirty and noisy.

②Supermarkets are much cleaner. They also provide a more convenient shopping experience.I still remember my first trip to a supermarket. I brought my bamboo basket along but quickly realised it was unnecessary. The supermarket provided free plastic bags at the cashier desk.

③Today, supermarkets no longer offer free plastic bags. But you can still see plenty of plastic in the food parts. In most stores, fruits and vegetables are ready-packed. Sitting in clean plastic boxes, they look fresh and nice as they line the shelves.

④These plastic boxes have got me thinking. Every time I return fromFreshippo, I take out my fruits and vegetables and throw the boxes away.These boxes can be reused. But because they take up a lot of space and because fruits and vegetables always come in new boxes, many of us throw them away after just one use. Even if we put them in the waste box, they need to be cleaned and carefully processed(处理). This needs a lot of energy. 

⑤Since we don't pay more for these boxes, most of us don't think much about them. Earlier this year, Freshippo began to ask for money, 1 yuan for each plastic bag used for delivery. It may encourage shoppers to use their bags again, but since they have to pay for a bag with every online order, they just end up with more plastic bags.

⑥Perhaps modern supermarkets can learn from the wet markets of the old days and encourage the use of baskets. At the same time, I'm hoping for new forms of bags or boxes that are easier to use again.

⑦Could you be the one to invent something like this?

①By now, you' ve spent years sitting in front of a school desk. You also need to sit while doing homework or using your computer at home. But do you really know how to sit properly at your desk? Poor posture(姿势) can lead to lower back pain,  neck pain,  and many other painful conditions. Here are some tips for you.

Tip 1: Start with your shoulders

②Our shoulders play an important role in keeping a good overall posture. Naturally, all of our body falls forward, putting pressure on our spine(脊柱). Our back muscles(肌肉) have to work all the time to keep us straight. That's why we need to keep our shoulders pulled back. That way, the weight of our arms is behind our spine, and the muscles in our back and neck don't have to work as hard. If I could only give you one piece of advice for your back, this would be it.

Tip 2: Keep your screen or book right in front of you

③It's hard enough to stay in the same position for hours without a break. If you keep your screen or book off-centre from your chair, you' ll have to turn your body and head to see it. This is a common cause of sitting pain. Put your desk well so that your screen or book is directly in front of you. Raise or lower it a little so that the top is at eye level. 

Tip 3: Your arms need a rest  

④If your arms are not supported, they will sooner or later start to pull on your neck and shoulders. Therefore, your chair should have armrests to support your elbows(肘部).

Tip 4: Take breaks

⑤Make sure you take normal breaks. Think about setting an alarm to check your posture every hour.

I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. When I was a child, my parents were very busy. And we didn't have the internet at that time. In order to relax myself, I found pens and paper, and I just started drawing.

At that time, I thought of drawing just as a hobby. But I was tired of studying for school exams. I wanted to do something creative. One day, it hit me: How nice it would be if I could do what I love for a living! I did research on the best art schools around the world. One of my friends studied art in the United States. She advised me to go to the Rhode Island School of Design(罗得岛设计学院). That was the only school I applied to after I left high school. 

Luckily, I was accepted into the RISD. There were new skills to learn every day. At first, Iwas a little worried. I tried many different things. Chris Baselli, one of my teachers, helped me to find my own style(风格).

Now, I' ve been working as a full-time illustrator(插画师) for ten years. I' ve drawn for newspapers and magazines such as The New York Times and The New Yorker. I' ve also worked with companies like McDonald's and Apple. Some clients(客户) keep coming back to me. They love my style.

When I get a task, I read it over a lot of times. I try to work out the most important message that I need to include in my work. Then, I forget about the task for a while —— the best idea often pops up when I am not thinking too hard.

I'm still in the early stages of my career. One of the biggest fears that I have is losing the excitement. I hope that will never happen so that I can keep creating wonderful designs.

Boris is a foreign student at Communication University of China. He often (share) his experiences of Chinese culture in his vlog. In one vlog, he explained how he learned the word"dongxi". He said that in ancient China, markets (build) by the government along a road from east to west. So when people say"qu mai dongxi", they mean,"I'm going to buy things. "" interesting the story is!" he said. That is  real example of language coming from life. From then on, he started(learn) more. He also performed kung fu in a traditional Chinese costume. After practicing, he became (strong) than before. Boris once thought those Chinese who practiced kung fu could fly, later he found it was wrong. 

Since Boris came to China, he (make) more than 40 Chinese culture vlogs online. He planned every vlog very (careful) and created every vlog by (he). "I learn a lot from my Chinese friends," he says. Boris hopes to bridge the two cultures together. 

Although making tea seems easy, it calls for attention. A good tea maker must be serious—— that means  (从不)  using low-quality tea leaves. Keep the leaves in a bamboo  (篮子)  to stay fresh. Next, get instruments  (准备好): a teapot, a thermometer(温度计), and a timer. There is an interesting (变化)  in tea making—— hot water pulls different chemicals out of the leaves, creating color and flavor. 

You must heat the water to the right temperature. For green tea, use about 80℃; for black tea, use100℃. Then put the leaves into the pot and (倒) the water in. Let it steep for the right time. Be careful not to steep too long, or the tea will (尝)  bitter. A good cup of tea will leave a  (甜蜜) flavor in your mouth long after you drink it. 

Many people (欣赏) tea art because it is (广泛) seen as a symbol of Chinese culture. Tea is not just a drink. It is also a bridge between people and tradition. 

Many people drink tea to start their morning on . If you are new to tea, you might think it is just hot water    leaves. However, tea is a    drink which is deeply rooted in Chinese culture. , most tea masters agree that making good tea is an art. 

If you take a close look at tea-making process, you  how much care it requires. For centuries, people have stood in front of tea tables, trying control water    and steeping  (冲泡)time. 

Last month, my class went hiking. At the mountain 1 , we saw two roads. One was wide and easy, covered with soft grass, with many people laughing along the way. The other was narrow(狭窄的)and rocky, with hard 2 and wild trees growing beside it. There were few visitors on that side, and it looked quiet and lonely. Most classmates 3 chose the easy road without much thought. But my friend Lily and I 4 each other and picked the hard one. 

Although it was tiring, we kept climbing 5 . We helped each other and shared water. And we stopped to  6  only when we felt really tired. On the way, we saw special flowers growing between the stones and  7 birds singing in the branches  (枝条)  above—— things the other group didn' t 8    because they were walking too fast on the easy road. 

When we finally got to the top, we were the 9 ones there! A cool wind blew against our hot faces. The view was amazing—— we could see the whole village  10 , and the sky seemed so close. We felt so proud of what we had done. Soon, the others arrived, looking 11 to see us already sitting there. 

Later, our teacher smiled and told us a secret:"The road that most people avoided was actually the quickest way to the top. " We soon realized 12  fewer people chose this way—— it needed more hard work and a stronger will from the very beginning. 

This experience taught  13 a valuable lesson: hard roads have fewer people because not all of us dare to try. If we want to achieve our dreams, we shouldn't give up easily. 14 , we should face challenges with courage and hope. Now, when I study  15  subjects, I always remember that every hard step will lead me closer to success. 

Is Technology Making Us Less Polite?

Technology can be a useful tool, but some people think it's affecting the way we behave, both online and in person. We interviewed two students for their opinions.

Tina:I use my phone most often. I use it to chat with friends and do my school tasks and share my life on social media every day. 

Alex: I use my phone and computer most. I use my computer for online classes and schoolwork,and my phone to keep in touch with classmates. 

◆ Do you think technology is making us less polite?

Tina: . Many people become ru der online because they can hide behind screens and

avoid bad results. 

Alex:I don't agree. . Rudeness comes from a person's own character, not the device(设备). 

Where did you get your opinion from?

Tina: I found many people speak rudely online easily because they think there are fewer bad results online than in real life. 

Alex: For me, it helps us talk to friends far away. And online games teach me to be kind and work well with teammates. 

Any advice for using the technology politely?

Tina:. Treat others the same way you would in real life. 

Alex: When you are communicating online, always stay calm and patient. If you disagree with someone, explain politely rather than arguing rudely. 

Do you think technology is making us less polite? Why? (No more than 15 words)

①Recently, a strange but interesting trend (潮流 ) called"digital lobsters"(数字龙虾 ) has become popular among young Internet users. You might be surprised —— these are not real sea lobsters. They are AI  agents, new computer programs that can really do tasks for people. 

②Different from other AI, OpenClaw can do much more things. In the past, most AI could only talk with people or answer simple questions. They could not take real actions. But today, these"digital lobsters" are able to work like real helpers. After getting your permission, they can control your computer, manage files, write simple codes(代码) , send emails, and even take notes in meetings. 

③They can also search for needed information on websites, and help you draft short messages if you want to reply your friends quickly. Some even remind you of important dates, check your timetables,and organize documents after work. What' s more, these AI agents can learn from your habits and work independently. That is why young people joke that they are"raising" a smart digital pet. 

④Ina word, this new fashion shows clearly that AI is quickly developing from a simple talking app to a practical and helpful assistant in our daily life, bringing convenience and surprises to modern life. As this trend continues to grow, "digital lobsters" may soon become common digital partners for more people, making our work and life easier and more interesting than ever before. 

In recent days, a group of special"visitors" has become famous online. They are grey herons atJiuyan Bridge in Chengdu. Grey herons are a common water bird with long legs, a long neck, and grey feathers. It can grow up to one meter tall. 

People often see dozens of these large birds standing in a line in the shallow water. Interestingly,they often stand on just one leg and stay very still (静止) for a long time. Because of this, some people jokingly call them"foot-washing birds", while others say they look like they are"practicing kung fu". 

However, experts say these birds are not actually washing their feet. They are standing silently to hunt for food! The grey heron is a smart hunter. It stands still to wait for fish and shrimp to swim by. When a fish gets close, the bird moves its long neck very quickly to catch it. 

These elegant birds have made the spot a popular attraction. Many people go there specifically to see the birds and take photos of them. 

Why are there so many herons in the city center now? The reason is the improved environment. In the past few years, Chengdu has worked hard to make the Jinjiang River cleaner. Now, the water is clear and there are plenty of fish for the birds to eat. 

If you want to see these beautiful birds, the best time is early morning. But remember: keep a distance of at least five meters and do not feed them. Let's protect these lovely guests together!

Zhang Xue is a real inspiration for Chinese teenagers. He is not a pop star or an actor, but a motorcycle pioneer. As the founder of ZXMOTO, his team won at the WorldSuperbike Championship in 2026, making him the first Chinese brand winner in this top competition. 

Zhang's story is like a movie. He was born in a poor family in Hunan Province in1987. Zhang began working as a motorcycle repair apprentice  (学徒)  at the age of 14. He loved motorcycles deeply and kept practicing riding skills. Even when he failed at first, he didn't lose heart. Later, he became an excellent rider and won many prizes. 

Because of injuries  (伤痛)  from long-term training, Zhang started to make motorcycles in 2017. He studied hard to master technology and set up his own company in 2024. He insisted on independent research and developed his own engines. He worked day and night to make the motorcycles lighter and the engines stronger. 

The result was the 820RR-RS model. It can go from 0 to 100km/h in just 2. 81  seconds. More importantly, it is 100% Chinese-made. After winning, Zhang said,"I' ve waited 20 years for this moment. "Zhang's spirit touches many people. He shows that dreams come true with passion and persistence  (坚持). He is the real star that Chinese kids should chase.

Koalas are often called koala bears, but they are not bears. They have small eyes, a large nose and round ears. And they have no tails. They can run as fast as rabbits. They are also good at climbing trees.

Koalas live in eucalyptus trees(桉树) and feed on the tree leaves. They usually sleep about 20 hours a day. The word"koala" comes from an Australian word. It means"No drinking". Koalas don't drink much.They get water from what they eat.

Much like kangaroos, koalas have pouches(育儿袋) for carrying their young. A koala mother usually gives birth to one joey(幼兽) at a time. The joey is only 2 cm long. It has no hair, no ears, and is blind. As soon as it's born, it finds its way to its mother's pouch, and stays there for about 6 months. That's about how long it takes for the joey to see, grow ears and hair, and walk on its own. By about 7 months of age, the joey gets into the pouch less, and spends more time on its mother's back. At about 12 months, it leaves its mother to build its own home. A koala usually can live up to 15 years.

Now koalas are in great danger. Their numbers are dropping every year. To save koalas, a group called 

Bangalow Koalas was set up in 2016. For years, it has planted over 400,000 trees. The group hopes to plant500,000 trees by 2025."I can't imagine a world with no koalas at all. We' re going to do everything we can to make sure that doesn't happen," said Ms Sparrow, a worker from the group.
