Yollando is also known as Yanming, the Chinese name given by his teacher at the Shaolin Temple. When he was a college student in Abidjan, he learned Chinese at the Confucius Institute. In late 2016, he had the chance to visit the Shaolin Temple in Henan Province. "The spirit of martial arts (武术) of my friends touched me a lot. They set a good example for me. I truly felt sure that this was the place I had dreamed of since childhood." he says.

After going back to the Côte d'Ivoire, Yanming still wished for life at the Shaolin Temple. In July 2017, he went back to Shaolin and stayed there for six years. His years at the temple greatly changed him, and made it easier for him to understand and enjoy traditional Chinese culture. He says the most amazing things in Chinese culture are hard work, respect and kindness. "Coming to China to study made me moredisciplined and hardworking. I used to be a little lazy, but the Shaolin Temple taught me to be on time and respectful." he says.

When he finished his studies at the temple, he began working to spread (传播) Shaolin culture at a Shaolin cultural center in Zambia, the first of its kind in Africa.

In mid-2025, scientists did an online survey (调查) about kids' housework.207 kids aged 5–13 from 15 countries took part in it. The results show that girls have a higher participation rate (参与率) than boys. For example, only 49.5% of boys make their beds, but 70.1% of girls do so. Age also matters.
