Boys and girls ! Let's talk about the seasons. There are 1 seasons in a year in our country. March, April and May make up (组成) the 2 . June, July and August make up the summer. September, October and November make up the 3 . December, January 4 February make up the winter. 

Near the North Pole (北极) there are 5 seasons: winter and summer. In winter the nights are 6 . For more than (多于) two months you can't see 7 sun. In summer the 8 is long. For more than two months, the sun never (从不) sets (落下), and there are no 9 . 

In the tropics (热带) areas, there are also two seasons: a 10 season and a dry (干燥的) season. 

Everyone hopes to have a healthy lifestyle. But do you know what a healthy lifestyle is like? Here are some good ways for you to have a healthy lifestyle. 

Exercising more

This is the most important way of a healthy lifestyle. Walking, running and playing basketball and other kinds of sport can help you keep healthy. If your job needs long hours of sitting, get up often and walk. 

Keeping clean

Keep the places around you clean. It's not good to leave your things here and there. Unclean or untidy places can make you angry, and even they can make you ill. 

Eating healthily

Our health also depends on our food, so everyone should remember to eat healthy food. You need to have breakfast every day, because a good breakfast gives you enough energy to start a day well. Never eat junk food. The healthier food you eat, the healthier you will be. 

Living green

This is the easiest way to have a healthy lifestyle. Plant trees or flowers around your house. Also, try your best to save water. Stop using things if they are bad for the environment. 

The Sun is a very big and bright star. It is  because without it there would be no life on Earth. The Sun gives  light and heat.

All living things need light and heat  the Sun to live. Plants need light and heat to grow. They use the  from the Sun to make food. We cannot make our  food, but plants can. All the food we eat comes from plants in a food chain (食物链) which starts  the Sun.

Just like us, animals need sunlight, too. Sunlight is  we can see in the day. If there was no Sun, it would be  all the time. Even when the  is cloudy, the sunlight is very strong and it  through the clouds.

In our school, Bike to School Day is a school festival. . On that day, students need to ride to school. But if they have no bikes, they can walk to school or take school buses.

Now, many teachers in schools like to ask their students to do so. . Because it doesn't bring pollution (污染). It's also fun to ride bikes. . Most importantly, biking is really good for their health. For today's students, it takes them much time to play phone games or watch TV shows at home. .

Some students also ask their parents to go to work by bike on that day. After that, lots of parents begin to love riding. . After buying a bike for only two hundred to three hundred yuan, they can ride it to work every day.

Doug Tallamy is an American scientist on wildlife and insects (昆虫). He always hopes people can grow native (当地的) plants in their gardens.

His new book, Nature's Best Hope, came out on Earth Day of 2023. The book tells middle school students how to save the world in their own yards. He hopes the new book will carry its message into classrooms around the US. "The idea is that children are the future of our earth," he said.

The new book tells that children can make easy changes at home to give insects and birds better living places. For example, the students can use metal pots (金属罐) to build a "bee hotel". "Or you just plant a flower. It's free and easy to watch it grow, and it makes a big difference," Tallamy said.

Tai Montanarella, another scientist, helps lead programs for New York Botanical Garden. She said Tallamy's new book is helpful to share the idea that Americans can do things at home to improve the environment.

Tallamy starts his new book by asking readers to look closely at their yards. "Nature is everywhere. That's a good thing because humans like you and me wouldn't live a day without it." Tallamy writes. "That's what this book is about—how to create a yard that is a real part of the natural world."

Earth Day (地球日) comes each year on the twenty-second day of the fourth month. On that day, people do different things to protect (保护) the earth. Some people clean up parks. Other people recycle.

People celebrated the first Earth Day 54 years ago. They celebrated it in the United States. Today, people in many countries celebrate Earth Day. They come from China, Canada, France and so on. People around the world celebrate it every year.

As children, we can also do many things with friends and family this Earth Day. We can plant trees or clean up a park or street. We can turn off the lights (关灯) to save energy (能源). We can also choose to walk or ride a bike instead of (代替) driving a car to help keep the air clean.

Everyone can do something for the earth. And remember, every day is a good day to help our earth, not just Earth Day.

Trees are important to us. They do a lot for us, our environment (环境) and animals. 

Trees help to keep the air clean and make us healthy. They take in dirty air and give clean air to us. Go for a walk in the park in the morning, and you can feel how nice it is to be with many trees and clean air. 

Trees also give us many kinds of beautiful flowers and delicious fruits such as apples and oranges. Trees give homes to different insects, birds and other animals. Even the sap (汁液) of trees is useful as food for insects. 

____ We can use them in many ways. But we are hurting (伤害) them and they can't grow back quickly. We cut down trees to make paper, desks and chairs. Also, we sometimes clear (清空) the forest to make space to build houses, shops and so on. Clearing the forest is bad. Many animals lose (失去) their homes because of this. 

It is time for us to stop hurting our great friends—trees. Use not as much paper and join tree-planting activities. All of us can do something for our dear friends!

Let's make friends

Hi, boys and girls. Do you want to make friends with me? Now let me tell you something about me.

I am friendly to others and I like helping others in need. Let's be good friends, OK?

Do you know that people will die early if they have no friends during their lifetime? The survey shows if you want to live longer and more (happy), you need to have some friends who can share your (sad) and happiness or can be  (help) when you are in trouble. The following three types of friends are just what you need to keep the doctor away. 

A loyal best friend.

Everyone needs a friend  (support) him or her in different situations. This kind of friend knows all of your deepest and  (dark) secrets, but still loves you all the same.

A  (friend) neighbour.

These days, a lot of people don't know  (they) own neighbours. It's a pity  some neighbours can be the most helpful people. If you forget to lock the front door when you are on holiday, you can call your neighbours to lock it for you. So it's wonderful to have nice and helpful neighbours.

A workmate.

You'll find it much  (easy) to chat with someone than to eat lunch alone every day. Your workmate doesn't have to be your best friend. If you two get along well  each other, you can always start going out with him outside of the office.

If you have such kinds of friends, you will surely live longer and more happily.

Everyone has a favourite place in his or her school.

Lily likes reading English books. She wants to make her English reading better. So her favourite place is the school library. They are good for her English reading.

Jenny loves sport. She likes playing basketball. There is a big sports field on the left of the classroom building. 

Jack likes running. He wants to find a place to practice running. There is another big sports field between the dining hall and the library. Jack thinks it's a good place to practice running.

I am John. I know many of you like maths and science, and some think music and art are interesting. But I like geography best. I fall in love with reading maps and books about geography. In my vacation, I like travelling too, because it can open my mind.

I want to learn more about geography, so I always look for lots of information about it on computer. One day, I find a great book about geography. I like it so much. It is a book about a boy named Kobe. Kobe likes travelling with his friends and family. He learns many fun geographical facts (地理事实) from travelling, and he writes them in his book. It is so fun and teaches me so many useful things.
