Wonder—Giving a helping hand
I recently finished reading the book Wonder written by the US writer R.J.Palacio. This book tells the story of August Pullman, a 10-year-old boy with facial (面部的) differences, and his journey through school.
The book teaches us to be kind to others. It really touches my heart. Students often bully Pullman for his not looking normal. But his classmates Jack and Summer don't care about how he looks. They become his real friends and like him for who he is.
It also teaches us that bullying others is wrong and that we should always stand up against it. When Pullman is bullied, his friends help him and show that they care. It shows that a small act of kindness can mean a lot to someone who is going through a hard time.
Wonder is a must-read book for everyone. The story will make you laugh, cry and think. It encourages me to be nicer and see the good in everyone, no matter how they look or where they come from.
(1)、Why is Pullman bullied by his classmates?(2)、How do Jack and Summer treat Pullman?(3)、What does the book teach us about bullying?(4)、What do you think of Jack and Summer? Write 30 words or more. -
19、 语篇填空。
Tom used to be a (joy) student and full of energy. He loved playing football and telling jokes in class. But things changed after his grandfather (pass) away last winter. Tom started (behave) very differently: he became very quiet and often shut himself away in his room all day. Some classmates even bullied him, shouting him from time to time. This made Tom feel (lonely) than before.
His physics teacher Ms Lee noticed this. She stood in front of the class and said, "Put yourself in (he) shoes. How would you feel? You have no idea how deep the pain is." She also advised Tom to take deep breath and turn his mind to positive thoughts.
(thankful), Tom tried to think differently. He joined a study group the next week. To his surprise, he found not only support friendship there. Ms Lee smiled and said, "Negative (feeling) are normal, but don't let them stay for long. Talk to someone when you feel sad."
Slowly, Tom became happier. He learned that being kind to others could turn sadness into hope.
