A map is helpful when you travel. But in Chongqing, any map becomes almost useless, especially for a  (foreign) like me. Built on mountains and along the Yangtze River, the city is like  huge 3D maze (迷宫).

I first heard of Chongqing 10 years ago, but I never knew  it was like. One day, a friend recommended it. His words "It's unlike any city you've ever seen," made me so  (interest) that I decided to see it in person.

In Chongqing, houses on hillsides  (connect) by roads 20 floors up in the air. Trains come out of mountains and go through buildings. What looks close on a map is  (actual) far away, sometimes ten floors above or below.

I walked up stairs,  (cross) walkways, and took lifts that carried me to amazing places. Every turn led to a new discovery.  the end of the day, I just closed the map and let the city guide me.

At night, with tears still in my eyes, I went to Dad. Bit by bit, I told him the day's troubles. He listened quietly, and then said, "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view. If you can learn this, Scout, you'll get along much better with people."

Lying in bed, I thought about Dad's words. I was angry at Miss Caroline for shaming Walter, yet at the table, I did the same thing. I finally fell asleep, realizing that real kindness begins with respect

Imagine having the robotic legs in the picture. You can put them on in seconds. Light and smart, this newly invented robotic exoskeleton (外骨骼机器人) makes hiking and climbing much easier.

The exoskeleton is designed to be worn around a user's waist (腰部) and legs. Its built-in AI technology can sense a person's movements in real-time. When you walk uphill, the device (装置) adds power to your steps and reduces pressure on the legs, making it feel like you are being gently pushed forward during a climb.

Developed by a company in Shenzhen, the device has quickly drawn international attention. Hundreds of tourists have tried it while hiking. An American vlogger named Glossi made a video showing how the lightweight device moved together with his steps. "It's moving for me," he said excitedly. The video became a hit online, with many viewers calling the device "amazing" and "useful."

Besides helping hikers, the robotic exoskeleton is very helpful for the elderly. For them, it is more than just a tool. It helps them live a more active and independent life. A 68-year-old user from Hainan shared his experience, "When I wore it during a long walk, it felt like a gentle pull forward. It even gave me back the confidence to take walks in the park with my grandchildren."

Do you remember "Flash," the funny sloth (树懒) who does everything slowly in the movie Zootopia? Real sloths, however, are not just funny; they show us a different way to live.

Sloths are slow because they only eat leaves, which give them very little energy. Moving slowly helps them save energy. Their stomachs work very slowly, too. It can take them a month to break down one meal of leaves.

Most sloths live high in the rainforest of Central and South America. They are fantastic climbers. In fact, they spend almost their whole lives hanging upside down in tall trees. Being high up in the trees keeps them safe from predators on the ground.

About once a week, sloths climb down to poop (大便) This trip is dangerous, but it is important to nature. Tiny moths (飞蛾) live in sloths' fur. They lay eggs in sloths' poop and then fly back to the sloths. On the way, moths bring tiny bits of algae (藻类) to sloths' fur. These algae grow and turn the fur green, so sloths can hide in the leaves. In this way, the algae, the moths, and the sloths are all able to survive in the forest.

By learning about sloths, we see that every living thing, no matter how slow or small, has a job in nature's big family. Being slow can be smart. Protecting nature means protecting every living thing

 Even small increases in daily steps can make a difference. You can take a 5-minute walk during a break. If you take a bus or the underground, getting off a stop or two early and walking the rest of the way can also help. So create chances and start small.

The Little New Year, or Xiaonian in Chinese, often comes about a week before the Spring Festival. In northern China, people traditionally celebrate it on the twenty-third day of the  (twelve) lunar month (阴历). But in southern China, it  (usual) falls on the twenty-fourth.

Xiaonian is also called the Kitchen God Festival. One story says that the Kitchen God was a man named Zhang Shan. He was rich but he left his wife  married (娶) another woman. However, his new wife used up  (they) money. Then he became a beggar (乞丐). When he was begging, only his first wife gave him food. It  (make) him so sorry that he ended his life in the kitchen. Later, he became the Kitchen God.

One  (importance) tradition of the festival is to burn a paper picture of the Kitchen God. Families think this can send him to heaven (天庭). There he reports on all families' (activity) over the past year. Later, people will put up  new picture of him to welcome him back. They hope the Kitchen God will watch over the family for another year.

Scientists have found 30 unusual new kinds of animals deep in the Southern Ocean around Antarctica. This ocean is hard to study because it's far away and freezing. But scientists think many unknown animals live in its deep waters.

Earlier in 2025, a team used a research ship. They sent a remote-controlled robot named SuBastian to explore the sea floor. It took photos and filmed videos, and collected about 2,000 animals.

One interesting find was a round, meat-eating sponge (海绵). Most sponges eat by cleaning small things from water. But this one has hooks (钩刺) that help it catch other animals. Because of its shape and the way it hunts, scientists named it the "death-ball" sponge. It was found 3.6 kilometres under the sea.

The team also found "zombie worms" (僵尸蠕虫). They eat the soft part inside dead whales. Scientists found some new sea stars and worms too, even in hot places on the ocean floor.

In fact, it takes many years to name a new species (物种). This team is working faster by asking top scientists to work together. So far, they have studied only 30% of the collected animals. They hope to find 10,000 new species in the next ten years. Soon, everyone can find all this information on a free website.
