Voluntary work is a precious experience that brings warmth to others and growth to ourselves. For the past year, many students in our class  (devote) a lot of our free time to different kinds of voluntary work, from visiting the elderly to helping sick children in hospital.

We always prepare small gifts and interesting activities  (cheer) up the people we help, because we know that a warm word or a happy moment can drive away their sadness and loneliness. When we stay with the lonely elderly, we talk to them patiently and listen to their life stories  (careful), and we never hurry to leave them alone.

 we are busy with our schoolwork on weekdays, we still spare two hours every weekend to do voluntary work. It has become an important part of our life. Many of us used to be shy and self-centered, but now we have learned to care for others and think about their feelings first. We all believe that giving help to others is far  (happy) than any other fun activity in our daily life. It is the true meaning of voluntary work to share love and make the world a warmer place.

We often prepare small gifts and interesting activities for them. Local shops and kind-hearted residents always support us. They give us stationery, toys and snacks to pass on to the children. They do this by giving these items freely, and in other words, they d these things to help make the kids happier. We also spend our spare time, the time that we don't use for study and homework, accompanying the elderly who live alone in the nearby community. We chat with them about their life stories, help them tidy up their rooms, and teach them how to use smartphones to video call their children who work in other cities.

Volunteering is a precious experience that brings both warmth to others and growth to ourselves, and I truly understand this after six months of volunteer work in my school's Warm Heart Club. I am an eighth-grader who used to be a shy and self-centered boy. I only cared about my own study and never thought about doing something for people in need. Last semester, my teacher advised our class to take part in a volunteer service for kids with physical challenges in a community center nearby, and I joined it with my deskmate just out of curiosity at first.

The community center has many kids who have trouble moving their bodies freely and hardly join outdoor social activities. My main volunteer task is to stay with these kids, play simple puzzle games with them and teach them to make easy paper crafts like paper cranes and paper flowers. At the very beginning, I was clumsy and didn't know how to communicate with them. When I saw their sad faces, I even wanted to give up the volunteer work. But one day, a little boy who couldn't walk told me that the paper crane I made for him was the most beautiful gift he had ever got. His sincere words touched me deeply, and I made up my mind to stick to this meaningful work.

Now I spend two hours in the community center every Saturday. I prepare different small hand-made gifts for the kids each time and learn to talk with them with more patience and kindness. Gradually, I find the kids start to smile more and are willing to share their feelings with me. For myself, I am not the shy boy any more. I become more outgoing and confident, and I learn to care for others and understand their needs. This volunteer experience changes me a lot. It lets me know that a small kind act can light up others' life, and helping others is also a great way to make ourselves a better person.

Our school set up a Voluntary Work Club last term to encourage students to help people in need. At first, only a few students joined the club, because many of them didn't know what to do or how to start.  The teachers in the club gave us a lot of advice and told us that voluntary work is not as hard as we thought.

We first planned to visit the children's hospital near our school.  We prepared some storybooks, toys and hand-made cards for the sick children. When we got there, we read stories to them, played games with them and taught them to draw pictures. Their smiles made us feel warm and happy.

After that, we did more voluntary activities: we helped the elderly in the community clean their homes, we picked up litter in the park, and we taught English to the children from poor families.  Now the club has over 100 members, and more and more students want to join us.

 It not only helps people in need, but also makes us grow into better people. We learn to care for others, work with our teammates and understand the meaning of life. We believe that kindness is the most beautiful language in the world.

Kindness is not about doing big things but it's about doing small things with a warm heart. Emily is a 15-year-old girl from Canada, and she has been helping homeless animals for three years. When she was 12, she found a sick cat on her way home. She took it to the animal hospital and looked after it until it got better. Since then, she has made it her duty to help homeless dogs and cats.

Emily doesn't have much money, so she does small things to help: she makes food for the animals with her pocket money, she cleans their living places in the animal shelter, and she takes photos of them and posts them online to find new owners for them. So far, she has helped over 20 animals find their new homes.

Emily's story has inspired many of her classmates. They join Emily to help the animals, and they call themselves "the Little Animal Helpers". Emily says, "I don't think I'm doing anything great. I just hope that every animal can have a warm home. And I believe that if everyone does a little kindness, the world will be much better."

Blood donation is a silent way to help others, and it's easy for most healthy adults to do. But many people still have wrong ideas about it. Some think donating blood will make them weak, and others believe it's harmful to their health. In fact, these ideas are all wrong.

Doctors say that a healthy adult who weighs over 50kg can donate 200-400ml of blood every six months. This amount of blood is only a small part of the body's total blood, and the body will make new blood in a short time. What's more, regular blood donation can help the body update blood cells and reduce the risk of some blood diseases.

World Blood Donor Day is on June 14th every year. It aims to tell people the importance of blood donation and thank all blood donors. In many cities, there are blood donation buses on the street on that day, and many people line up to donate blood. Some of them are young people, even teenagers who are over 18. They say it's a special way to celebrate their birthday or just to do something for society.

When 14-year-old Lin Tao saw an old man fall down on the street, he didn't hesitate to help. He called the old man's family and stayed with him until the ambulance arrived. Later, the old man's son thanked him with a gift, but Lin Tao refused it. "I just did what I should do," he said.

Lin Tao is a member of his school's "Kindness Club", which was set up last year. The club has over 80 members, and they do different voluntary work every month: they help clean the community park, read stories to children in the hospital, and buy daily things for the lonely elderly. Lin Tao says the club teaches him that kindness is a circle. When you help others, they will pass the kindness on to someone else.

Last month, the club organized a book donation activity for a primary school in a mountain village. They collected over 500 books, and the students there sent them a thank-you video. "Watching the video made me feel so proud," Lin Tao said. "I realize that helping others is the happiest thing in the world."
