The National Museum of China has a new popular product: a fridge magnet(冰箱贴) made from the design of the phoenix crown(凤冠) of Empress Xiaoduan from the Ming Dynasty.

"The phoenix crown fridge magnet sold 1,700 pieces in just two hours," said Liao Fei, who works at the museum. Fans waited in line as early as 6 a. m. , even in the rain, to buy it. In three months, sales reached80,000 magnets. All phoenix crown-themed products brought in over 10 million yuan.

The design team was surprised. "At first, we made only a few to see if people liked them," Liao said.The idea to make more magnets came after seeing many visitors share photos of the real phoenix crown on social media. This gave the team the idea to make new products.

The design team has seven members. They get ideas by visiting museum displays and checking social media to make sure the magnets are of good quality, and factories now make about 3,000 magnets a day. The museum also sells other phoenix crown products, like notebooks and keychains. Many of these are popular too. To stop people from buying too many to sell again, the museum set a daily buying rule.

"This shows how much people love cultural products," Liao said. Many buyers like taking pictures of the magnets with the real phoenix crown, which is now the most visited display in the museum.

"We want our products to show Chinese beauty and fit into daily life," Liao said. The products have even created new jobs, as factories hired more workers to meet demand.

A university in Ireland has started a new degree program to teach students how to turn their social media skills into a job. This course helps students learn how to create videos and posts on sites like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube and make money from them.

The course, run by South East Technological University(SETU) in Carlow, is the first of its kind in the country. Irene McCormick, the course leader, said, "Influencing is becoming very popular, and people want to learn how to do it well."

This program began as a short summer class called "Digital Work", which attracted 350 people for only 30 spots. Seeing the strong interest, McCormick decided to create a full degree program. After two years of planning, the four-year college course in Social Media Studies welcomed its first group of 15 students.

The students in the course already use social media often. They want to improve their skills to make their hobbies or interests more serious. For example, one student, Favour Ehuchie, shares videos of hairstyles and wants to turn this into a business. Another student, Marta Hughes, said, "Many companies now look for workers who can use social media."

The course includes making videos, storytelling, checking information, and starting a business. Students also practise using cameras and recording tools and can get real-world work experience.

McCormick said, "People think being an influencer (网红) is easy, but it takes a lot of work. It's a serious job with big chances for the future."

On May 3, 2025, Chen Yuxi made history at the FINA Diving World Cup Final. The 19-year-old Chinese diver won three gold medals in three different events. These achievements made her the "Triple Crown" winner (三冠王) in the competition.

Why Can't People Touching Museum Exhibits(展品)

When visiting the British Museum, you can see visitors touch ancient bowls even though the museum rules say no touching is allowed. Museum guards say it's impossible to stop people from breaking the no-touch rule.

Most museum-going is still a mainly visual(视觉的) experience for visitors to admire the artworks. But over the past few years, more and more museums have been working to include additional senses, like sounds and smells. But touch, especially, is only allowed in certain areas, like the Louvre's Touch Gallery, or the British Museum's Hands On Desks.

 Before there were museums, there were curiosity(好奇) rooms filled with a collection of interesting objects from around the world. When people visited the collection, the objects were passed around. Museums continued with this spirit of openness at first.

But as museums grew, the spirit no longer existed. When you've got 4 million visitors a year, you can hardly have everybody touching something. Sometimes people are likely to damage(损坏) the artworks. So the rule against touching artworks makes great sense. Smaller museums still sometimes encourage visitors to touch their objects

"We become friends now and I have often been  to her house for a cup of tea," said Bruce. "This experience has changed my life. Maybe I will never know who wrote that very first saying, but if he is out there, I'll say ‘thanks' to that  friend."

Most people love animals. Many children's books use animals as the main characters. Many people keep animals as pets. The love for animals may be why both children and adults enjoy going to zoos.

In the past, zoos were usually started by rich people. The first zoo was started by a queen in Egypt in 1500 BC. Raising animals was a way for people to show they were powerful. Sadly, the animals in the early zoos were not treated well. They didn't receive enough attention or care.

Today, zoos still bring people pleasure, but they try to protect animals. Zoos must follow rules. People must provide animals with a clean place to live in, food and water, and health care. The rules help protect the animals.

Some people think the rules are not enough. They want to do more to protect the animals they love. For example, people disapproved of the use of some large animals in shows. They thought the zoos didn't have enough space for the animals to show. They also thought the animals were not treated properly. With so many people against the shows, the zoos decided to make a change.

People see animals in zoos. At the same time, they try to learn how to protect them. Both people and animals can get a lot from each other.
