It's easy to drop and break an egg. But how about dropping one without breaking it? Students around the world take on this fun science challenge! Not long ago a team from Conestoga High School in Pennsylvania, US broke a record for doing the highest egg drop for the second time!
In 2022, the team set the first record. Derrick Wood, their teacher, helped them with the project. Three students, Jeffrey Wang, Matthew Ma, and Charlie Gawthrop used some materials to make a special box for their egg. Then they dropped the egg from a height of 43 feet, 8 inches (about 13.3m). The egg didn't break!
In 2023, a student from India broke that record by dropping an egg from a place more than 10 feet (about 3m) higher. Mr. Wood and his students wanted to win back their title. This time, another student Breckin Shefflerwood joined them. They made a change to their design and tested it many times by dropping an egg from a drone (无人机).
On August 18, 2024, the team dropped an egg from a lift (电梯) which was 83 feet (about 25.3m) high. It still didn't break! They were super happy. Guinness World Records proved (认证) the drop on September 25. The team was back on top!
