In Jinzhong, Shanxi Province, there is a group of people who are busy drawing maps around. They are not workers in geography, but dispatchers (调度员) at the Emergency (急救) Center of the city. 

Since 2007, the dispatchers in the center have been drawing maps of the local areas. 

"A dispatcher's job is counted in seconds," says Liang Ruimei, a dispatcher in the center. She has been working in the center since it started in 2007. "We must answer the phone in 3 seconds, get clear information about the patient in 60 seconds and dispatch (调度) emergency medical workers in 3 minutes at most. If we save one second, the patient may have a better chance to live. " 

Although nowadays the center has electronic maps, the dispatchers still walk through the streets to draw maps by hand. 

After many years' hard work, the dispatchers keep every building and street of the city in mind. They even know whether or not a car can enter the gate of a building. Sometimes the caller can't tell clearly where he is, but it doesn't matter. As long as he describes the buildings around, the dispatcher can dispatch emergency medical workers to him. 

"We are trying to be quicker than death," says Liang.

Amily is 25 years old and works as a pilot. Her parents believed that girls shouldn't be pilots, but she refused to listen to them. As she did well in her exams, they finally agreed to pay for lessons for her. 

After she finished the lessons, she started to work in an airline (航空公司). Her boss (老板) promised to give her interesting work, traveling to Europe and Asia. She expected to enjoy her job. But all her work was boring, and she didn't do any traveling. She tried to talk to her boss about it, but he didn't listen. 

She always felt unhappy and didn't like how things were going in her life. Then one day last year, she thought, "I don't want to live like this." She decided to do something meaningful. That was why she became a volunteer to rescue people in trouble. Now she can use her flying skills to help lost and injured (受伤的) people when she is off work. She is happy to know that she is making a difference to their lives. 

Volunteering makes her life more colorful. It helps her feel better about herself. So she advises young people to spend some time doing volunteer work if they find their lives boring. 

With the rapid development of digital technologies, there have been a number of fresh professions (职业) in China in recent years. New professions have provided young people with more job choices. They are stepping into these new professions with great interest. 

A virtual architect (虚拟建构师) is a new profession about the game industry. It uses AI technology to build a world in virtual space. It will provide real experiences for gamers and moviegoers. Wang is a newcomer in this field. ____ That's because he thinks this technology has great potential(潜力) and he hopes more people will join him. 

In recent years, lots of new service professions have also appeared. The purpose is to meet people's special needs. Ma Xiaoyi is a declutterer who leads her team to tidy the homes of customers. "Facing a new job, we should try and get to work bravely, instead of waiting and seeing what will happen," Ma said. "You will not know whether it suits you until you try. And you will succeed only with effort." 

The new professions are a blue ocean in the job market. Young people should seize new chances. At the same time, new chances also mean new challenges. These new jobs require a higher level of knowledge and skills. So young people should improve their abilities. 

When planning for your future, are you more interested in getting a job or having a career? There is a difference between the two. A job is something that will provide you with money. A career, however, is perhaps more satisfying because you will be able to follow your interests. 

Zhong Fangrong, from a poor family in Hunan, is now a Beijing University student. She was once faced with this choice. Many people advised her to study economics (经济学) or business. A degree in these subjects would lead to a good job and good pay. It would make her be able to help her poor parents. But Zhong has decided to study archaeology (考古学). She wants to choose a career that she is fond of. 

Making a lot of money is good. However, I think being happy in your work is even better. Money, as it is said, can't buy happiness, so it makes no sense to spend your life doing work that makes you unhappy. 

If you are not sure about your future work, you should ask your parents and teachers for advice. You should also look for role models. In Zhong's case, her role model is the famous archaeologist Fan Jinshi. Fan has studied the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang for more than fifty years. When Zhong wrote to Fan about her interest in archaeology, Fan replied with some advice. I think all of you should follow it: "Don't forget your dreams. Keep them alive and focus on your studies." 

People often talk about jobs. But when I tell others what I do for a living, they can hardly believe it. I spend my day at work eating chocolate! I taste chocolate to make sure that people can get excellent chocolate from our factory. 

Every week I receive chocolate from our factory. I have to check it for taste and smell. I also have to taste raw materials (原材料) we usually use. I spend days choosing the best ones to go into the chocolate. 

Just beside my office I have a kitchen. I test and taste chocolate I make there. My kitchen is full of machines. It's wonderful to work there during the day. 

No two days are the same in this job. Sometimes I am in the kitchen. Sometimes I'm out of the country buying the raw materials we need. 

Many people ask me whether I get bored of chocolate. I've worked with it for a long time, but I've never thought that I don't want to eat it any more. In fact, I often go home and eat some more in the morning!
