The following are four kinds of medicine at home. We should know how to use them. Never make any mistakes. 

1. Take the medicine with water. One pill (片) every eight hours. For further night time and every morning, take two pills at bedtime. Don't take more than six pills in 24 hours. For children six to twelve years old, give half the adult dosage (剂量). For children under six years old, go to ask your doctor. Take less dosage if restlessness or sleeplessness happens.

4. The medicine is taken three times a day. Once five pills for an adult with a cold. Half the pills for children under 10 years old. Take the medicine before three meals or before sleep. 

When you go to the park, you might notice many older people listening to audiobooks（有声书） instead of reading paper books. Audiobooks have become quite popular these days. Why are more and more people choosing audiobooks over traditional books? Is listening to an audiobook just as good as reading a book?

Reading needs us to focus（集中） all our attention on the words in a book, and we also need to find time and a place to sit down and read. However, you can listen to audiobooks anytime and anywhere you like, and it gives your eyes a break, too. That's why people like audiobooks better. 

But the big question is, do we get knowledge from audiobooks as effectively as we do from paper books? Scientists did an experiment to find the answer. Volunteers in Group One were asked to listen to an audiobook while volunteers in Group Two read a book of the same content (内容). The result showed that the volunteers remember the same amount (量) of information, whether they listened to it or read it. 

Another study published in the Journal of Neuroscience further supported the result above. In the study, researchers scanned (扫描) people's brains when they listened to and read books. The result showed that listening to audiobooks activates (激活) almost the same parts of the brain as reading does. 

However, some people still believe that they learn better from reading paper books. One reason might be that when we listen to audiobooks, we are often multitasking (处理多个任务). "If you' re trying to learn while doing two things, you' re not going to learn as well, " Daniel Willingham, a professor of psychology at the University of Virginia, told The New York Times. 

When I was in Grade 8, I had a heated argument with my classmate, Tony. I have forgotten what the argument was about, but I have never forgotten the lesson I learned that day. 

I believed that I was right and he was wrong, and Tony believed that I was wrong and he was right. Our teacher, a kind and smart lady, decided to teach us a lesson. She brought us to the front of the class and placed him on one side of her desk and me on the other. In the middle of her desk was a large and round object. I could clearly see that it was black. The teacher asked us what color the object was. "White, " Tony answered. I couldn't believe he said the object was white!"Clearly, it was black!" Another argument started between Tony and me, this time about the color of the object. 

The teacher told me to go and stand where Tony was standing and told him to go and stand where I was standing. We changed places, and now she asked me what color the object was. I had to answer, "White. " It was an object with two differently colored sides from his side it was white, while from my side it was black. "Boys, now, what do you say?" The teacher smiled at us. Tony has been my best friend ever since. 

My teacher taught me a very important lesson that day: When you disagree with others, you'd better be in their shoes. That will help you look at the situation through their eyes, and truly understand their ideas and ways of thinking.

Years ago, I lived in a flat in a city. The flat next door was only a few metres away from (I). Through the window, I could often see  woman do some reading in the flat. 

Several months went by, I began to notice that her window was (terrible)dirty. Everything was unclear through it. I wondered why the woman didn't wash her window. 

One bright morning, I decided to clean my flat, including washing the window inside. With several (hour) cleaning, my flat took on a completely new look. I sat down by the window a cup of coffee for a rest.  a surprise! Across the way, the woman who loved reading could (see) clearly. Her window was clean! I had been complaining about her dirty window, all the time I was watching hers through my own dirty one. That was quite (educate) for me. How often I had criticized others through my own shortcomings!

From then on, I changed my way of looking at others. Before judging someone, it is common (ask) myself first, "Am I looking at him through my dirty window?"Then I try to clean the window of my own world so that I may see the others'world clearly. 

In August, Shenzhen launched its first smart cat adoption center in Bao' an District. The center is a 6-square-meter room with a glass door.  Through this center, two cats have already found new homes. 

When someone rescue a street cat, they can apply to bring it the center. Once a cat is allowed to stay, 20 yuan to take care of the cat is needed per day.  People who are interested in adopting a cat can enter the center by scanning a QR code and paying 10 yuan.  Inside, they can find basic information about the cats and how to adopt the cats.  And it doesn't cost anything to adopt a cat. 

To protect the cats from being harmed by cat haters, the staff will monitor the center all the time and they can lock the doors through remote control if needed. 

With the adoption centers, over 10 pet-themed parks, and 50 pet-friendly malls, Shenzhen is on its way to becoming a"pet-friendly city". 

Last year, Geologists around the world were puzzled by something strange on their seismographs(地震仪) starting last September 16. It was a strong signal, but it wasn't an earthquake. No one knew what it was. 

Seismographs are used to measure vibrations(震动) coming through the Earth's crust (地壳). Normally, when an earthquake happens, seismographs show a busy pattern of lines. But this signal was different from that of an earthquake. It was a slow vibration and it reached a high point every 92 seconds-much slower than an earthquake. The strange signal lasted for 9 days, then slowly went away. 

Scientists were confused. They had no idea what was causing the signal. Teams of scientists began studying the mystery. About 70 scientists from 15 countries around the world began to exchange ideas and information. 

One strong clue was that seismographs showed a landslide crashing into Dickson Fjord on the east side of Greenland. A massive piece of rock-about five football fields long, and just as wide-fell off a mountain in eastern Greenland and mashed into the fjord. The result was a gigantic tsunami(海啸). The tsunami also showed up on seismographs, but it didn't explain the unusual signal, which had continued. Scientists began to use computers to test ideas about what might happen when such a huge tsunami takes place in a long, thin body of water like Dickson Fjord. 

With more detailed information, scientists improved their computer model. It matched what actually happened-a huge wave caused by the tsunami slammed back and forth in the fjord for 9 days. The wave had enough force for the vibrations to reach seismographs around the world until they slowly died out. 

As unusual as this event was, scientists say we may see more like it in the future. As temperatures rise and glaciers melt, some mountains will become less stable, making such landslides more likely. 

Australian English is known to put British and American English together. This can be understood more clearly when you look at its grammar: As for spelling, Australian English is most similar to British English. The"u" can be seen in words like"colour" and the"ise" ending is used, not like"ize" in words like"realize"in American English. 

But things are not always like this. The word"inquire" is often used instead of"enquire", which is the same as American English, while the word"program" is used instead of the British English"programme". What's more, even though the British English spelling of"labour" is most common, the Australian Labor Party's name has the American spelling. 

Much like British English, Australian English has irregular past tense and past participles（不规则的过去式和过去分词）of words like"spell" and"smell", so they become"spelt" and"smelt", However, like American English, Australians usually say numbers like 1, 100 as"eleven hundred" instead of"one thousand, one hundred". When it comes to collective nouns（集体名词）, Australian English has more in common with American English. For example, both Australians and Americans would say"the football team has won a goal", while in British English, they would say"the football team have won a goal". 

Interestingly, the naming of rivers follows either American or British ways. For most of Australia, the American naming way is used, so the word"River" appears last, as with the Hudson River or the Mississippi River. To give an Australian example, it would be the Darling River. Yet, in Southern Australia, the British naming way is used, with the word"River" coming first, as with the River Thames. So, the river discussed above would be called the River Darling. 

Chances are that you've all seen porcelain（瓷器）before, but you may not know that it can be decorated with carefully carved hollows（镂空）and beautiful clay flowers. This is Tonghua porcelain（通花瓷）, a craftwork born in Fengxi town, Chaozhou city, Guangdong province. In 2008, it was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage. 

Born in 1995 into a family of Tonghua porcelain craftsmen, Ye Hao is a young inheritor（传承人）of this art. He has been improving his skills for 10 years and creatively bringing new ideas to it. 

Seeing the number of people with Tonghua skills decrease sharply in Chaozhou, he felt responsible for learning and preserving the art. 

After mastering all the necessary skills, Ye said his biggest challenge lies in designing. Since Tonghua porcelain features as many as 10, 000 geometrically（几何学上地）shaped hollows, designing them requires careful consideration of their sizes and structures. If a hollow is carved too large, it is likely to crack or get the shape changed easily during firing. 

Determined to be creative with the art, Ye chose to combine Tonghua porcelain with everyday objects and his hobbies. For example, he created a porcelain brooch（胸针）featuring a hand-pinched rose, which was chosen as a heritage-inspired souvenir by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province. As an animation lover, Ye also designed six Tonghua vases based on main characters from the animation series The Outcast, mixing traditional art with pop culture. 

Ye said he will keep looking for ways to bring the art into everyday life and show it to more people using fresh designs. 

I live in a small town with my parents and my grandpa. My grandpa always tells me that people who laugh at their own1 will get others to laugh along. Yesterday, I learned that he is right.

My mum did not agree to buy another model racing car for me. She said it would be a waste of money. I am angry with her.
