The oil paper umbrella is a traditional Chinese handcraft (手工艺品).

It has a history of over 1,000 years. In the Tang Dynasty, Chinese people brought it into Japan and Korea, so it was called the "Tang Umbrella". However, as modern umbrellas appeared in the last century, the hand-made oil paper umbrellas became less used in daily life.

Yuhang in Hangzhou is known for making oil paper umbrellas for more than 230 years. They are mainly made of skin paper, bamboo and Tung oil. It takes at least a week to make such an umbrella. In 2008, these were added to the Intangible Cultural Heritage List of China (中国非物质文化遗产名录).

A young man called Liu Weixue learned the traditional art of making Yuhang oil paper umbrellas from his grandfather. "I want to bring the art to life," Liu said. He used a kind of lighter bamboo to make the umbrellas weigh less. He improved the umbrellas to win the hearts of people.

Now, more and more people are interested in it. Liu goes to a local school to teach students. He also goes to events in different places to introduce the oil paper umbrellas. Liu Weixue is creative and tries his best to keep the traditional art alive.

You might be wondering how these shows work. Well, they use a lot of drones with bright lights on them. First, someone programs a computer to tell the drones what to do. Then, that program goes to each drone. After that, people on the ground use the computer to make the drones move. When everything is ready, the show starts. All the drones fly up at the same time and move in the sky in a beautiful way.

Even though these drone light shows are really cool, there are still ways to make them better. New tools and technology can help make the shows even more amazing. Also, the people who design the shows are trying to find new ways to make them even better.

In 1957, Yang and his colleague Li Zhengdao made history by winning the Nobel Prize in Physics. They received this prize for their groundbreaking work on the" parity non-conservation" theory (宇称不守恒)—a discovery that changed how scientists understand the basic laws of the universe. Beyond this, Yang's "Yang-Mills gauge Theory" (规范场论) is also considered as a cornerstone of modern physics, as important as Einstein's theory of relativity (爱因斯坦相对论).

Though he lived abroad for more than 20 years, Yang never forgot his motherland. In 1971, he became the first Chinese scholar to visit New China after a long period of separation, helping China's science development. He advised the Chinese government on how to make basic science research stronger and paid for nearly 100 Chinese students to study in the US. In 1999, he returned to work at Tsinghua University. He spent his later years training young scientists and improving the development of physics in China.

Yang's life was a mix of scientific curiosity (好奇) and deep love for his country. His famous motto (座右铭), "Be honest instead of clever," continues to encourage young people to pursue (追求) truth in science and life.

②Man vs. Horse Marathon (马拉松) takes place in a small town in Wales, about 200 miles from London. It's called a marathon but it's actually about 7km shorter than a usual marathon. People race against horses across the hills and mountains. It started in 1981, but humans did not beat horses until 2004.

⑤In Turkey, camel wrestling (骆驼摔跤) is a very old sport. The largest camel wrestling competition takes place in Ephesus every year and thousands of people come to watch. In the sport, two male camels wrestle each other. Sometimes the camels do not want to fight and they run through the crowds, which can be dangerous.

After class, students would always play on the playground. And outside the school gate, there was always a woman1 at them. The gatekeeper would always drive her away,2 she would always come back.

Last summer, my family and I spent a wonderful week in Scotland.

Before we started, we were a little worried about the language. But when we arrived, we found the people there friendly. We started our trip in Edinburgh, the country's central city. We walked up a big hill to see the famous Edinburgh Castle. It is huge! We met a friendly Scot and he told us about its long history.

The next day, we drove to the famous lake—Loch Ness. We even took a boat trip. Dad laughed and pointed at the water, joking that we might see the "Loch Ness Monster (怪物)", just like everyone else came there for. But we just found a few ducks swimming lazily. That night, we went to a special show. People there played the bagpipes, a traditional Scottish instrument. It sounded loud and special. We also watched amazing Scottish dances. I tried wearing a kilt, a traditional Scottish skirt for men. What an experience! I never imagined myself wearing a skirt before!

The food was interesting too. I tried haggis, a traditional dish. My parents liked it, but I thought it was a little strange. I liked the shortbread cookies much better!

I was sad when the trip ended. Scotland is a beautiful place with friendly people. I will never forget this trip. I hope to go back one day!
