Where there is a will, there is a way. On October 30th, 2024, Wang Haoze, together with the other 2 astronauts,1 it to enter the China Space Station and met the other three astronauts who had lived there. It is a great honour of Wang to be the first Chinese woman space flight engineer2 the first post-90s to enter space!

Zheng Qinwen is a Chinese girl who is good at playing tennis. On August 3rd, she won the first gold medal in the women's singles tennis in the Paris Olympics.

Cave paintings are the oldest pictures. They do not have written words,  when we look at them, we can still get an idea how the people felt when they drew them. 

Sometime between 4, 000 and 3, 000 BC, people in Egypt and Mesopotamia developed skill of writing. They engraved(雕刻) text on stones first. But it was impossible (carry) stones from place to place. The invention of papyrus(纸莎草纸)allowed documents to be moved (easy). Writing on papyrus made it easy to correct (mistake) too. 

People (make) the first books from papyrus and from thin animal skins. Paper (invent) in China as early as 105 AD. The quality of paper soon became very good. The world's (old)printed book is from China too. It came out May 11th, 868 AD. In Europe, books were written manually(人工地) until the middle of the 15th century. For many people, their (please) is spending a few hours in a bookshop looking through books. It really helps them relax. 

Paper  by Cai Lun around105 AD. Before the invention of paper, people wrote words on  materials(材料)like leaves, animal skins or rocks. In ancient China, people recorded important events on bamboo strips(竹简), but they were very heavy and took up a lot of space. Later, Chinese people created a kind of paper which was made of silk. This kind of paper was much lighter than strips, but it was too expensive to be  used. To make a cheaper kind of paper, Cai Lun managed to use old cloth, fishing nets and other materials  silk. With the improvement of  , paper got much cheaper and it was more suitable for writing on. 

It was a rainy and windy October afternoon. Garth stood outside his house with a wide smile. This was the1 weather for testing his new invention— Umbrella Hat. He could hardly wait to see whether it could keep the rain off. He 2 placed the hat on his head. Then he started walking purposely along the 3 . It worked!

Garth picked up his Umbrella Hat from the ground in tears. "Maybe Todd was6 … in reality, who would ever need my invention? " He lowered his head and thought to himself. 

Suddenly he 7 and saw a lady looking at him.  "I was just leaving my house8 I saw you and those boys. Are you okay? "

Garth was very 14 . Gadgets4Uwas one of his favourite places and the thought of having his invention showed in that wonderful place was too exciting for words. He suddenly felt much better. And he could already feel lots of 15 ideas coming out, waiting to spring into life! He couldn't wait to take part in the competition. 

A science project can be a job or a fun hobby. But doing research can also be a chance to help others and make the world a better place. Here's an interview with two teen scientists who took part in this year's science competition, Sally and Allen. 

◆ Ca n you introduce your project?

Sally: The machine is powered by the sun's energy. It can not only find litter but also put the litter into different groups. 

Allen: I developed an app to recommend(推荐)songs. It records someone's heart rate while listening to music. The information is then used to recommend other music that can help the person relax.

Sally: When I volunteered at our local litter clean-up, I saw how much litter pollution there was, and I knew that I had to solve this problem. 

Allen: When people are listening to my music, they all have different feelings. So that's where I got the idea to start this project. 

What was your favourite part of this project?

Sally: Building the robot. I have never had any experience in robotics before, so it was a completely new experience. 

Allen: My favourite part was finding out proper music. 

Any advice for science project beginners? F

Sally: Follow the scientific rules. It might seem difficult at times, but if you stick to this and change just one variable(变量) at a time, you' ll finally make it. 

Allen: Everyone's worried,  "Oh no, what if I mess this up? " In fact, making mistakes is part of learning.

Sui Feifei is known as" beauty" on the sports ground. She (shine) in the basketball games like a star in the sky now. She is so talented(有才能的) and pretty she attracts(吸引) many sports fans.
