The famous poem  Wang Wei talks about the traditional Chinese festival —Chongyang. Once there lived a monster (怪物) who made people sick. A brave young man, Heng Jing, decided to kill him. On the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, he (lead) the people from his village up a mountain. He asked them all to carry zhuyu and drink some chrysanthemum (菊花) wine (protect) themselves. Then he fought with the monster and killed him. The whole village (save). And that is why today is connected the festival with mountain climbing, zhuyu and chrysanthemum wine.

The story also has to do with the (tradition) Chinese idea of yin and yang. Nine is a yang number and so is a time of heat and strength. But too much yang can be dangerous. The zhuyu and chrysanthemum can make yin medicines.

Since 1989, Chongyang has been named. "Elders' Day"—a day to show admiration for our older people and wish them a long life. This is because the (pronounce) of "jiu" in Chinese also means "long". Family members go with their older (relative) to climb a mountain, or enjoy the beautiful flowers in a park.

In Hong Kong, people make the day a second Qingming Festival. They visit their(ancestor) burial places and clean them. The (center) ideas of the Chongyang Festival are respect (尊重), balance, (healthy) and love.

Woodblock printing (雕版印刷) was a large part of printing a long time ago. It first showed up during the Tang Dynasty. The invention depends on the early copy technology.  First, choose a piece of smooth wooden board and engrave (雕刻) the text on the woodblock. Engrave every word and leave a little space. Put the engraved board with ink and place the paper on its surface. And put the hand over the back of the paper. The text will "jump onto the paper". The third step is bookbinding (装订). At present, the earliest block-printed thing that can be seen is the block-printed Diamond Sutra (《金刚经》) of the Tang Dynasty. It was found in Dunhuang and was printed in 868 AD. The printing process is very wonderful.

The woodblock printing has many advantages, so it quickly takes the place of hand-copying. Its biggest advantage is that a woodblock can be used again for printing. It also requires less work. Since woodblock printing was invented in ancient China, it has brought many changes. The use of woodblock printing is useful to increase the number of books.

What's more, it is a useful tool to push the culture development forward. The ancient Chinese culture is engraved through this skill.  It also pushes for the use of paper money, making the exchange of goods faster and easier.

Qingming Festival is a time-honored tradition with great cultural significance (重大意义) in Chinese culture. It is also known as the Tomb-Sweeping Day and it is a time for families to come together to honor their ancestors, enjoy the beauty of spring, and celebrate the richness of Chinese culture and tradition.

In 2025, the Qingming Festival fell on April 4th, offering a time for families to pay respects to their ancestors and enjoy the beauty of nature. The main tradition of the Qingming Festival is tomb-sweeping. Families visit the grave-sites (墓地) of their ancestors to clean the tombs and offer food. This is done as a sign of respect and to ensure that the ancestors are well cared for in the afterlife.

The Qingming Festival is also an important time for families to come together. People spend a day traveling long distances (距离) to visit the grave-sites of their ancestors, bonding (建立亲密关系) with family members. Food plays an important role in Qingming Festival. One popular dish is qingtuan (青团). It is made from rice mixed with a special kind of plant called Chinese ai cao. It is filled with sweet red bean paste or sesame paste (芝麻馅). For kids, they love qingtuan with red bean more because it tastes much better.

Li Ziqi is very popular on the Internet. Recently she appeared at the 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala. Her performance was called "Welcoming Fortune" and showed China's rich culture. It was a beautiful show. At the same time, people were attracted by her costume!

Two years ago, my husband and I took an amazing trip to India. While in Rajasthan, we went on a 1 in a national park, hoping to see the famous Indian tiger with our own eyes.
