The typical food of the MidAutumn Festival for Chinese people is the mooncake. The special food is usually in the shape of a full moon. All my family members usually got together in my home on the MidAutumn Festival when I was a little kid. , most families were not rich at that time, so we made mooncakes by hand. I still remember the happy old times. Everyone was busy with happy smiles when my grandma was us to make mooncakes. At the same time, my grandpa always told us stories about the festival.
As I grew , my family moved to a big city. It was hard to eat mooncakes made by my grandparents. There were many kinds of mooncakes in the supermarket during this festival and they looked much more beautiful. However, my grandma still asked us to make mooncakes together instead of buying them. She told us she enjoyed doing that, because it a chance of family reunions. More importantly, it reminded us not to the hard days of the past.
Now I have my own family. My grandparents passed away years ago. It's turn to make mooncakes by ourselves. We all know a small piece of mooncake a lot to us. It not only carries people's to the ones they love and miss, but also encourages us to do something in person(亲自). The act of practicing Chinese virtues(美德) shouldn't be abandoned.
