The Netherlands is low-lying and influenced by the north sea wind, which caused floods to happen easily in the past. In order to deal with the problem, the Dutch used thousands of windmills(风车). So the Netherlands became the famous land of windmills. With this invention, the Dutch set a special date and held some activities. It falls on the second Saturday of May each year. Gradually, Windmill Day becomes a traditional folk festival in the Netherlands. 

On this day, things about windmills are everywhere. Many shops are full of colourful windmill art pieces. Children also like to draw windmills on the doors and windows. 

Windmills have different purposes in different states. They bring good luck to people in most situations. When the flag is hung on the windmill, it may mean that a baby is born, or a couple are holding a wedding. When the fan of the windmill is like a cross, it means that some important guests are coming and they are warmly welcomed. However, when the windmill is at rest and backward, it mainly tells us that something bad has happened. 

Nowadays, during your visit to the Netherlands, you can choose the windmill museums. Also, you can go to the local windmill villages. There are still more than 1, 000 windmills around the country, with many still in use. Every windmill is covered in red and green and is slowly running to greet you. 

Stonehenge, a rock circle, is not only one of Britain's most famous historical places but also one of its greatest mysteries(神秘的人或事物). Every year it receives thousands of visitors, People like to go to this place especially in June as they want to see the sun rising on the longest day of the year. 

For many years, historians believed Stonehenge was a temple(寺庙)where ancient leaders tried to communicate with the gods. However, historian Paul Stoker thinks this can't be true because Stonehenge was built so many centuries ago. "The leaders arrived in England much later, " he points out. 

Another popular idea is that Stonehenge might be a kind of calendar. The large stones were put together in a certain way. On midsummer's morning, the sun shines directly into the centre of the stones. Other people believe the stones have a medical purpose. They think the stones can stop illnesses and keep people healthy. "As you walk there, you can feel the energy from your feet move up your body, " said one visitor. No one is sure what Stonehenge was used for, but most agree that the position of the stones must be for a special purpose. Some think it might be a burial(埋葬) place or a place to honour ancestors(祖先). Others think it was built to celebrate a victory over an enemy. 

Stonehenge was built slowly over a long period of time. Most historians believe it must be almost 5, 000 years old. One of the greatest mysteries is how it was built because the stones are so big and heavy. In 2001, a group of English volunteers tried to build another Stonehenge but they failed. "We don't really know who built Stonehenge, " says Paul Stoker. "And perhaps we will never know, but we do know they must have been hard-working and great planners!"

In China, children have a fixed (固定的) classroom. In a classroom, you can see rows of desks and chairs and many other school things in order. There are usually about 40 or more students in every class.

In the UK, most classrooms are similar. Usually, two children share a long desk. 

  There are about 15 to 25 students in a class. The US children don't have a fixed classroom. They always go to different classrooms when the classes are different. 

In Japan, students have a fixed classroom. They also have single(单独的) desks.  At the gate of the school building, there are places for their shoes. 

Alice Green has a purple schoolbag. She likes it very much. She goes to school with it every morning. In Alice's schoolbag, you can see many school things. 

First, you can see her school ID card. On her school ID card, you can see her name, her class and her dormitory(宿舍) number. There is also a photo of Alice on it. Before she goes into the school gate (校门), the guard has to check(检查) it. Next to the card, there are some textbooks(课本). Alice often studies with them. They are important to her. Alice's pencil case is in the schoolbag too. She often puts her pencils, pens, rulers and erasers in it. She has five pencils. They are in different colours. She has two pens. One is blue and the other is black. She likes the blue one. 

In Alice's schoolbag, you can also see a baseball. It's a gift from her grandfather on her ninth birthday. Her grandfather knows she likes baseball very much. 

After school, Jack is going to go home by bike, but he cannot find his key. 

"Where is my key?" Jack asks. He looks at his desk. His key isn't on it. He looks down. Only (只有) a pink eraser is under his desk. "Is it in your schoolbag?" Jack's friend Paul asks. Jack opens his blue schoolbag. He searches(搜寻) everywhere in his schoolbag, but the key isn't in it. "I don't think your key is in the classroom. Ask Miss Green for help, " Paul says.
