Then a white cat and two black dogs come to him.  

"Hello! I'm Dale, " the cat says.  

"I'm John.  Nice to meet you!" he says.  

"They are Alice Miller and Helen Miller.  They are sisters, " Dale says.  

"Mom says a chameleon can be green, yellow, blue … I like chameleons!" Helen says.  

"And Mom says they are good to friends, " Alice says.  

"Thanks! But you have only one color.  I …" John says.  

"It's OK.  Everyone is different, " Dale says.  

"Can I be your friend?" John asks.  

"Yes.  You're our good friend now!" the three say. 

It's a fine day in New York today.  I'm at a small supermarket near my house.  There is also a young mother there with her two children: a little boy and his sister.  The children look very happy but the young mother doesn't. 

"Sorry, dear.  I only have the money (钱) for one birthday cake this month, can both of you two share the same birthday cake?" she asks her children in a low (低的) voice (声音). 

"OK, Mum.  But can we get a gift (礼物)?" the children ask their mum. 

"I'm afraid you have to choose: cake or gift, " the young mother says. 

Seeing them reminds (使想起) me of my family: We don't have much money, but Mum and Dad always make sure (确保) we three children have enough (足够的).  I have 5 yuanin my wallet.  I give the money to the young mother and ask her to spend the five yuanon her children.  At first, she doesn't want to take it, but I ask her to accept it again and again.  Finally, she takes the money and I can see the tears in her eyes.  I'm very happy because I can help the young mother in my way. 

Mr Lee is a teacher.  He is strict with his students.  He asks them not to be late for school.  Never! Sometimes the students are late, and Mr Lee is not happy.  

This morning, Mr Lee gets up at 7:40.  Oh, no! He must be late for class.  Mr Lee doesn't have breakfast or take a shower.  He runs to the bus stop quickly.  Many people are at the bus stop, but there is no bus for Mr Lee to take.  So Mr Lee takes a taxi.  

Mr Lee works at No.  15 Middle School, but the taxi takes him to No.  50 Middle School.  At last, Mr Lee gets to school at 8:35.  

"I'm sorry, boys and girls.  I'm late for school today, " Mr Lee says to his students.  "Everyone (每个人) can make mistakes (错误).  From today on, I won't ask you never to be late for school.  Please do your best not to be late.  Can you do it?"

"Yes, we can, " the class says happily. 

One day, Jack's parents take him to a music show.  Little Jack feels happy and sad with the music.  He feels the magic of music.  Then he falls in love with music and wants to play music. 

Then they go to a musical instrument shop.  His father likes the piano, but Jack thinks it is difficult.  Mom likes the violin, but Jack doesn't like it.  He wants to play the drums.  So his dad buys some drums for him and his mom helps him sign up for a drum class. 

At first, Jack has a lot of problems when he plays the drums.  And he can't play the drums well.  So he spends a lot of time playing the drums every day.  He knows that "practice makes perfect". 

Now, Jack is good at playing the drums.  And he also does well at school.  He knows more about the magic of music.  He thinks the drums open the door of exciting life. 

My name is Kate.  I'm twelve years old.  I'm tall and slim.  My eyes are big and blue.  I have short blond hair.  I come from the US.  But I live in China now.

I used to (过去) feel a little sad and  (孤单的) when my mother was not at home during the holidays. But now, I understand that she is doing a very important job.
